Pretty Petunias

Petunia

As the month drags on I’m longing more and more for Spring and Summer to hurry up and get here.

My petunia’s last year were just lovely. I often grow red and purple ones because the birds like them best. Particularly Hummingbirds (red petunias) which I’m trying to entice into my yard each summer. I do however purchase or grow a large number of white flowers as well because they accent the colored flowers and in the dark of the garden you can still see white flowers.

As many of you who have read this site for a while, or my gardening blog know, I do seem to enjoy gardening or being in my garden at night. Evening dinners or get together’s on the patio, watering the flower beds and lawn at night so my noisy stalker elderly neighbor doesn’t see me and slow me down … heck I’ve even been known to pull out a spot light and do some planting at 11 pm. So yes, my garden is to be enjoyed and worked in as much during the day as at night and the white flowers sure light up the place in the evening.

What can I say. I’m either a crazy or an extreme gardener. Take your pick.

In the Pink

gladiola bud

Here’s a photo of one of my pink gladiolas from this past summer. It’s blossoms aren’t quite fully open in this photo.

I love the multiple shades of pink that you can see on each petal. From deep dark rose to the palest of pink. Isn’t nature amazing? You’ve got to wonder how a blossom can develop with so many shades of one color and have them blend together so perfectly.

This is why I love my garden. There’s something so simple, yet so absolutely amazing to look at each day with wonder.

I grow a number of Antique roses. Many of them date back into the early 1800’s. Their perfume is heavenly and in fact these roses are/were used to make perfume.

The rose that I chose to show you today is called Compte de Chambord. It looks like a more modern rose when it first opens, but then it divides and quarters – as shown in the last picture. That’s a classic feature of a true antique rose.

This rose puts out most of it’s scent in the early morning. My neighbors can actually smell it when they step into their yards.

Now, I haven’t been working lately because of my illness, but when I was working in the ER department I’d work a night shift each week, and in the summer time I’d often visit my garden in the early morning to wind down. I was always drawn to that rose just by it’s scent. It’s heavenly.

Magestic Trees

Wordless Wednesday

I thought I’d post another one of Jordans photos today. Perhaps I should really be posting something to do with Valentines day, but I figured that a lot of other people would be doing that and you know how I like to be different.

Jordan had no way of knowing when he sent me this photo that I love taking photographs of trees. Why? I’m not really sure, but they just seem to speak to me. So I was amazed and pleased when I opened my email the other day and discovered this beautiful photo from Jordan sitting there.

I love it. Don’t you?

My friend Jordan

February 13, 2007 by Tricia

I seem to have made a new friend last week.

Jordan and his boat I was checking my email and I read a note from Jordan that said he’d found my blog interesting and inspiring. Wow. That was interesting to hear so I kept reading. Then he said “living on the end of the world ” he’d noticed my existence and would be pleased if I’d notice his.

He had included a beautiful photograph of, I assume, himself sitting near a kayak I believe, on an outcrop above what appears to be the ocean. Jordan had included two links to his sites, MJL Photography and a site that I’ll simply call happiness, both being photography related so I naturally assumed that he’d discovered my photoblog. He was hoping that we might exchange links.

I wrote back thanking him for his note, and complimented him on his gorgeous photos that I’d discovered on his two sites. You really must visit his websites, his photography skills are amazing and the photos within are jaw droppingly lovely.

This man needs to be promoted and should be earning some money with his photography. That’s truly how talented I think he is.

Much to my surprise I soon discovered that it was this blog that he’d enjoyed and found inspiring. We’ve been corresponding ever since and I believe he’s sent me at least two photo’s each day.

I’ve enjoyed each and everyone of his photos. I love landscape photography, and almost anything natural and the majority of the photos that he’s sent have fallen into those categories.

I believe that many of his photos are from his home Country of Poland. I never would have imagined that Poland was so lovely but it most obviously is quite a pretty place.

Jordan has been very kind and has given me permission to share some of his photography with you. All of the photos that I’ve included in this post were taken by Jordan and of course are his property. Please do not copy them for your own use without asking his permission first – please visit his website if you wish to speak with him. Actually I think anyone who enjoys photography or looking at beautiful photos should visit his site. Please do tell him that Tricia sent you if you visit.

From time to time I may include one of Jordan’s photos in my posts. They are just so beautiful. I want to show them off for him.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed Jordan’s Photos.
