This is the Tiffany Rose. Aren’t it’s delicate petals beautiful?

I’ve only got one of these rose plants and I find it rather stingy with it’s beautiful flowers, but when it does produce some blooms they are absolutely outstanding!

Cool photo-Morpher software

October 23, 2007 by Tricia

Wow! I was given the opportunity to try a new photo morphing software earlier today and I must say I really enjoyed playing around with this software!

I went to the Zoombli website and downloaded a copy of their Morpheus Photo-Morpher application. I know a few other bloggers who have started using this software to morph photos from one thing into another and I thought it was about time I try it out myself.

The software was very easy to install. Once installed the program opened up right away. There were instructions on how to use the software properly in the right side of the Photo-Morpher application so it was easy to follow the directions to create my own photo morph.

bud.jpg As you are editing your photo morph you be able to view a time line window so that you can see every frame, just like when you are editing a movie or video file.

As you know I love taking photographs of the flowers in my garden. So I went searching through my photos and found a beautiful photo a perfect Graham Thomas English rose bud. I then found a lovely photo of this rose fully open. I thought it would be neat to see how the program morphed the two photos from bud to fully open flower.

rose.jpg Hey I might use this on my gardening blog! It would be very useful to show people the different stages a plant goes through as it grows.

I’m sure you could come up with hundreds of things to morph – perhaps a baby photo of your child to how they look right now?

The program renders the morphs in a variety of formats including flash. I chose to render my morph into an avi so that I could upload it to YouTube.

This is my bud to full blooming Graham Thomas English rose:

The full standard version of this software only costs $29.95 and there’s also a Pro version that will allow you to to have even more features than you already do with the Standard version. Check out the software for yourself. I’m sure you could think of all kinds of cool things to morph. Hey a morphed photo might even make an interesting present for someone you love.

Sedum is lovely in the Fall

Sedum - Fall Colour

Our Sedum plants have been flowering for about a month now. I took this photo shortly after they’d started blooming. Aren’t their tiny delicate little flowers pretty?

I even enjoy this plant when the flowers begin to die and dry up. The flowers and their stalks dry and turn a brownish color. You’d think that would be ugly, but it’s quite ornamental. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that some people cut these dried flowers and stalks and put them in Winter dried flower displays in their home. That’s how nice they look even when they are dead.

This weeks theme is Practical

Ok well this might be exactly my dream house, but I’d like one with many of it’s features.

I love this houses wrap around verandas and upstairs balconies. I think it’s a very practical use of space and well, practically or not I just love houses with upper and lower balconies and porches.

This house is in the Beaches area of Toronto.

Coming out of hiding

October 19, 2007 by Tricia

Some of you know that I’ll be going to a blogging convention in November. I’m going to BlogWorld first and then I’ll be attending P0stieCon.

Some time over the summer I was asked to be part of a panel at P0stiecon. I still don’t really know what this will involve other than I won’t be on stage all by myself.

Well earlier this week one of the folks in charge of P0stiecon got in touch with me and told me that they’d need a photo and a bio for a program pamphlet they were preparing.

Yikes!

A photo?

I’m the one behind the camera – never in front of it! Not to mention the fact that I simply hate having my photo taken.

Well my time ran out and I had to hand in a photo. I still don’t even know if I handed it in, in time or not.

Last night my husband got behind the camera and took a number of photos of me. I mean a lot of photos! I really didn’t like many of them. I haven’t been feeling very well for about two weeks and had in fact been sleeping just before our photo session. My eyes are puffy in a number of the photos. My husband managed to capture me with my eyes closed or my mouth is a strange position a number of times, but if you take enough photos eventually you’ll manage to take a few decent ones.

So I figured since I’ll finally have a chance to meet other bloggers in about three weeks I might as well come out of hiding and give you a little peek.

So here you go. This is me:
