Hogging the Couch

March 7, 2008 by Tricia

Late Wordless Wednesday?

00033687

You guys probably think I’m nuts over my puppy, but this guys really got it bad over a pig!

Now that’s a couch hog!

I wonder if the photo above the couch is of the hogs mate or of the mans former beloved pet?

The next time my puppy climbs up on the couch and stretches out (kicking me with her feet as she gets comfy) I’ll try to remember this photo and be thankful she’s not this big!

I was just saying the other day how much I love flowers. Of course that’s common knowledge to anyone who has visited at least three of my blogs where I frequently discuss my garden and the plants I grow in it.

This rose, Compte de Chambord, is one of my all time favorite roses. It’s an antique rose and it has a beautiful heavy rose perfume scent that wafts in the air in the early morning, after a rain or after I’ve watered the garden.

I don’t think I’ll lose any roses this winter since there’s been such a nice snow cover protecting them – although we’re about to have a heavy ice storm later this evening and through the night – but if I do manage to lose any roses I think I’ll look for more Compte de Chambord roses.

Two or three more would be perfect. Unfortunately I don’t have any room for more at this time since I’ve already got more than 60 roses and God only knows how many hundreds of bulbs and perennials. No, I’m not hoping to lose any plants in order to make room, but eventually some will die out or be damaged from our harsh winters and now I know just what I’ll replace those plants with when they go!

Anyone else grow Antique roses?

Chionodoxa

I can’t wait until Spring arrives.

I was just saying on my gardening blog how protective all the snow we’ve gotten this year is for the garden, but still … enough is enough. I’m ready for nicer weather.

I miss seeing pretty flowers like these lovely Chionodoxa that bloom from mid spring to early summer.

Delicate Iris I also miss delicate miniature irises such as the one that I’ve included to the right.

Do you have a favorite spring flower? Perhaps tulips? Crocus’, Hyacinths, Muscari, snow drops, daffodils, iris, helebores, bleeding hearts or one of the many other kinds of spring flowers?

Do one of these flowers get your heart racing in anticipation of spring and the good weather to come?

A few years ago when Chris and I were traveling back and forth from Toronto to Ottawa we stopped several times to take photos of the beautiful scenery. It was the middle of July and the fields were full of wild flowers and wild grasses and the air just smelled heavenly.

I love these old wooden fences. If I ever were to purchase a property in the country I think I’d try to build a fence that looked a bit like this. Obviously it wouldn’t have much purpose, but I’d enjoy the look of it. I’d plant wild flowers, heather and perhaps lavender around the fence.

Do you enjoy the look of old fences and maybe even old barns?

My pretty girl

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

I haven’t been taking as many pictures of Midnight, my lab puppy lately as I should.

I figure that I should try to take a few pics each week as she changes so much just in that short amount of time. Soon enough she’ll start to reach her adult size and won’t be changing so much anymore.

The last photos I took were at her puppy training graduation. I’ve got some photos of her and the other puppies with graduation caps on. I just haven’t transferred them from the camera to the computer yet!

Here’s one of nicest photos I’ve taken of her to date. I took this photo in the middle of January after we came back from her first grooming session:

Midnight - black and white

She was kind of tired after the experience so it was the perfect time to snap a shot of my normally hyperactive Lab puppy.

Here’s another shot I took that day. Isn’t she just the cutest?

Of course she’s always cute when she’s sleeping. She’s really developing her jowls … look at how much extra skin she’s got on the side of her face!

Anyone else have a puppy at home or some cute puppy pictures to share?
