The Winnie The Pooh Store – a collectors dream

June 5, 2007 by Tricia

Almost every child receives a teddy bear as a gift when they are a baby, and some children end up with collections of teddy bears and soft toys that they continue to build upon well into adulthood.

One of our close friends is a teddy bear collector. She’s actually devoted two whole rooms of her large house to her collection as it’s just that huge. She must have more than 1000 bears of all sizes!

If you are a collector of Teddy Bear and or Winnie The Pooh related products, or perhaps would like to purchase a Winnie the Pooh bear gift for a small child and encourage a child’s love of all things teddy bear, you might be interested in visiting Beartoday.com.

Bear Today specializes in traditional teddy bears by Steiff and Gund and carries the whole Winnie The Pooh collection of Teddy Bears, soft toys and games. Bear Today has offices in both the USA and the UK.

I’ve been a Winnie the Pooh fan since childhood, but surprisingly I don’t believe that I ever had a Winnie The Pooh teddy bear. Perhaps it’s time I got one? I’m sure kids today love Winnie The Pooh teddy bears and his companions Pigglet, Tigger, Eeyore and other characters that are scattered throughout the classic animated shows and books as much as I did when I was young and in fact, if I must confess, still do today.

If you visit beartoday.com you’ll find that you can purchase the whole line of licensed Winnie The Pooh products. You can find classic and vintage Winnie The Pooh items on the site. I’ve found the prices range to be quite reasonable, and the products are all high end and of the highest quality made by respectable and well known “teddy bear” manufactures such as Gund.

You’ll also find that Bear Today carries other classic teddy bear collectibles such as Paddington bears, as well as giftware, stationary, greeting cards, birthday cards, posters, books and other items.

I’m actually quite amazed at the expanse of their collection. Not only can you find quality Winnie The Pooh products, but you can also find items from Humphreys Corner, Max and Ruby, Dora the Explorer, Sesame Street, Beatrix Potter, Disney and many others.

Just browsing through the collection brought back great childhood memories of all the things I used to love when I was young.

Visit the store if you need gift ideas for a baby, child or a bear collector.

Trillium Grandiflora

White Trillium bud

I took this photo a few weeks ago.

This is a trillium flower. The trillium is Ontario’s provincial flower, and Ontario is the Canadian province that I live in. It’s illegal to pick or dig up wild trilliums here. Why? Well, it takes forever for them to grow. They do not reproduce easily.

This of course is a trillium in my garden. It’s not a wild trillium. No, it’s a cultivated or hybrid trillium.

It’s supposed to be white but when it blooms the flowers are a deep maroon, almost brown in fact. Perhaps it was labeled wrong at the nursery and isn’t a true Trillium Grandiflora. I do have photos of it’s bloom but they are still on my camera. I’ll have to upload them to my computer soon!

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

My neglected Garden

Thirteen Things about My Garden

This is Thursday Thirteen #38

1…. I love my garden. It’s where I go to de-stress and or collect my thoughts.

2…. My garden is also where I get one of the best workouts! Cutting, bending, digging, squatting, standing up, bending down, amending soil, adding mulch, lifting heavy bags or shovel fulls of soil … for hours on end? Yeah, that’s a workout!

3…. I’m still not feeling well due to the Crohn’s so, while I say the garden is a workout, I haven’t gotten much of a workout lately as I’ve been ignoring the work that needs to be done in the garden.

4…. I still need to prune at least half of my roses. I have more than 60!

5…. I bought some veggie seedlings and annuals a week and a half ago and I still haven’t planted them.

6…. The cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuces, beets, carrots, beans, and annual flowers need to be planted soon!

7…. Once I’m done planting the new plants, and likely buying more since I only bought a few, I’ll have to get busy putting the red cedar mulch down.

8…. Ok, I told a fib a minute ago, I haven’t totally ignored the garden – I have been keeping an eye on it.

9…. Lately my visits to the garden my include my camera.

10…. Each time I go into the garden I must take at least 100 digital photos of the flowers that have been blooming. I’ve been showing off some of those flowers on this blog, my gardening blog and my photoblog.

11…. We live in a fairly small house, so we created our garden and use it as additional living space.

12…. By this I mean, we entertain our friends in the garden, we have barbeque’s and dinner parties, or just use that lovely space to relax. I even bring my laptop out to the garden at times and do some of my computer/internet work while in the garden.

13…. My favorite time in the garden is coming soon. The roses and other scented flowers will soon bloom and it’s almost intoxicating to be in the garden surrounded by so many beautiful scents all at once. I can’t wait.

Wow, I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I’ve done a Thursday Thirteen Post. It’s about time that I did one isn’t it?

Photo editing can be boring

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

You know what I hate about taking photographs? I take too many! I wish they were always framed just perfectly so I wouldn’t have to do anymore than upload them to my computer and use them as I wished.

Instead, I’ve been sitting here for a couple of hours going over my latest batch of photos – cropping images, creating duplicates that zoom in on aspects of the photograph that I want to highlight and so on. It’s kind of fun in a geeky kind of way, but when I’m not all that into it, it can sure be tedious.

I guess since I’m working on the photos you can expect to see a bunch of new photos across our sites over the next few days. Watch for them!

The Big Art Daily Community

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

You know, it’s interesting how easy it is to make great connections over the internet. It seems that every week, or even almost every day, a new interesting opportunity comes my way. It might be a friendship, or it might be a business arrangement, it might even be an exchange of ideas or a promotional exchange.

One of the interesting connections that I made this week involves the Big Art Daily community. You might remember that I’ve written about Wallhogs in the past? Wallhogs are big prints that you can put on your walls.

Well, Scott from Wallhogs liked my post and many of the others that they received and decided to pass on a bit of linky love through their Wallhogs blog. I visited the site and thanked him for giving me a link back, and somehow we got talking about photography and I was invited to submit some of my photos to their “Big Art Daily” community.

They plan on featuring a photo a day and they have an open invite for all photographers to join in.

I think this is a great site, and a great way of promoting photography, and photographers. Through this connection my art work is promoted, as is my photo site Breath of Life Photography, and all of the photographers who connect with them and allow some of their photos to be published on the site are helping them out with their commitment to their Big Art Daily project.

If you enjoy great photography or if you’d like to join in, check out the site.

I’m just paying it forward. I’m pleased by the site, honored to have my photos promoted and wanted to get the word out to other photographers.
