The Face of the Sun

We have some garden decorations in our garden and one of the latest items to adorn one of the surrounding walls is a large metal sun. It looks really cool with the vines growing around it.

Yesterday while I was out take just a few pictures I took this close up photo of the face of the sun. I think it looks kind of cool.

It’s just a rose

Just Joey Rose

Yes, it’s just a rose, one called Just Joey. Isn’t it just lovely?

This rose doesn’t bloom far enough for my tastes. I’d be happy if it bloomed from late spring right into late autumn, but it only seems to bloom at most three times a season and only has five to ten flowers at a time.

The flowers are quite large at approximately four inches in diameter. Just Joey is also a scented rose. It’s not strong smelling, just a light pleasant smell when you are close to it.

A rose with it’s own sunrise

Morden Sunrise Rose

I can see why this rose is called Morden Sunrise. The inside of the bloom looks like the rising sun doesn’t it?

The weather was cool enough in July that this rose actually started to set rose hips! I plucked them all off so we’ll get another round of blooms or two. Certainly this heat wave that we’re currently going through should wake this lovely rose up again and make it bloom it’s pretty little head off.

Clematis

This is a photo of the clematis flowers growing at the front of my house near the driveway. I like how our flag was captured in this photo as well.

This clematis bloomed profusely this year and made the front of the house look quite nice with their pink blooms.

I think the vine has mostly finished flowering but the flowers have turned into beautiful seed heads. I’ll have to take a photo of the rounded seed heads to show you how pretty they are.

Surrounded by Reflections

On Saturday Chris and I attended an outdoor art exhibition, then we went to Dundas and Yonge in Toronto to see part of the Toronto street festival where they had “green” exhibits.

The buildings surrounding Dundas and Yonge at Dundas Square have glass panes. I quite like the way they look so I decided to take some photos to show you.

You can click on the photo and visit my Flickr account to see everything I took photos of on Saturday. Warning – I took about 200 photos!
