PureCosta has information about Costa Rica Real Estate and Living in Costa Rica

January 4, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve always had a list of places that I’d like to visit at least once in my life. Some places I’d even consider moving to if I enjoyed the area or country enough.

One of the places that I’d like to visit and would consider moving to is Costa Rica. I’ve been drawn to the country because if it’s wildlife.

If you’re interested in learning more about Costa Rica and perhaps interested in investing in property there you should visit the purecosta.com website.

The website is owned by Coldwell Banker. They are very passionate about Costa Rica – particularly the Southern Nicoya Peninsula. Their agents are licensed in both the USA and Costa Rica and they have a lot of experience in helping anyone who is interested in Costa Rica.

You can learn quite a bit about Costa Rica on the site. They have information about the country, the economy, what it’s like to live there, the people, the climate, currency, cost of living and taxes as well as information about investing in Costa Rica.

At this time there are 13 pages of property listings in the Listings section of the site. All I can say is you must take a look at the listings. The properties are beautiful! If you have any interest in purchasing a property in Costa Rica the listings page will make you seriously consider making an investment. Check it out.

Furnished Apartments for Rent in Dubai

December 9, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve known a number of nurses and doctors over the last decade who’ve traveled abroad to work for a few months to a couple of years in foreign locations. I think I know about five nurses that have worked in Dubai.

Obviously people who in other professionals also take temporary work – engineers, contractors and so on.

If you will be traveling to Dubai for vacation or for a short stay, possibly due to work, you might want to look into staying in one of the lovely dubai hotel apartments or dubai villas that are being rented at dubaiapartments.biz.

The apartments are furnished and dubaiapartments.biz only accepts rentals that are up to their high standards. What does this mean? Well it means that all of their rentals are the equivalent of 3 star ratings or higher.

In fact, dubaiapartments.biz is the largest online short term rental portal in Dubai. There are over 120 self catering properties, listed by the owners themselves or property managers. The easy to use site is a great way for those with properties to rent to connect with tourists or those who are in Dubai for short term work who need a comfortable place to stay with all of the amenities.

If you’d prefer to stay in on of the luxurious dubai hotels you’ll find them listed on the site as well.

The site is very easy to use. Simple visit the site and right there on the main page you can begin your search for a furnished apartment by location. You can also use a variety of search features to make sure that the list of properties in your search result are really what you are looking for by listing how many bedrooms, price range and of course your rental start date.

Photos accompany many of the listings so you’ll be able to see your future accommodation before you book your stay.

At the bottom of the page you’ll see links that will take you to pages that describe the various locations that the various furnished apartments are located in. This might make it easier to decide which location you’d like to rent within.

Visit the dubaiapartments.biz to learn more about the furnished apartment rentals.

I’m a bad bad person

November 2, 2007 by Tricia

The house next door to use is for sale. The semi-detached … really attached house I mean.

Am I a bad person to make noise in my house when I hear a really noisy crowd of people go through the house next door? Am I?

Seriously. The other day when I wasn’t feeling well I was asleep on the couch and I was rudely awoken when the realtor or the people he/she was showing the house next door to started talking loudly at the top of his voice. I mean – he was so loud he woke me up out of a deep sleep!

In fear of the loud talker being a potential home buyer, I got up off the couch and started walking around my home – loudly. You know, walking on my heels. Thump, thump thump up and down the stairs. I also closed a few doors noisily, coughed a bit and turned the TV up a bit.

Nothing too terrible or was it?

All I was doing was trying to show the potential home buyer that if someone makes really loud noises in either home it can be heard.

You know, as much as I complain about our current karaoke neighbors they aren’t that bad. Unless their son is jumping on the couch or playing a really loud video game (sound up high, probably when parents aren’t home) we don’t hear them that much. I mean, we can’t hear normal conversations or anything. It’s just when they start playing their musical instruments – tuba? electric guitar, start singing gawd awful karaoke or have a party (with fellow karaoke buddies) that we really hear them.

But if a loud talker moves in … someone that we’ll be able to hear all the time, every day? Ahhhh! I swear we’ll have to move.

The person that was either showing or viewing the house the other day was sooooo loud!

So. Am I bad for making some noise of my own?

Have a room to rent out or are you looking for a roommate?

September 23, 2007 by Tricia

The cost of renting an apartment or a house just seems to keep going up and up doesn’t it? Meanwhile our salaries don’t seem increase at anywhere the same rate. Sometimes the best way to get around the cost of renting is to share your space with a roommate. Whether that be renting out a room or moving in with someone else.

Many years ago when I was single and had my own apartment I decided to started my own business and those first few months were hard. I had to build my client list and start earning money. How was I to cover the rent of my apartment? I got a roommate.

Finding a roommate wasn’t easy. I took out ads in the local paper and interviewed prospective roommates. These days it’s so much easier to find a roommate with the services provided by companies such as roomster.net. I only wish that a website such as this was available all those years ago when I had roommates!

Roomster is an advanced housing rental site. The site provides those who want to rent out rooms, floors, houses, apartments or condos with the ability to list their rental spaces. Those are searching for a room or home to share with another can look through the listings and easily find a place that fits their budget.

How Does Roomster Work?

Well as you can see from this screen shot, there are listings for all of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Roomster has a large and active membership and there’s thousands of listings from which to find a new roommate.

roomster2.jpg

By creating a simple profile on Roomster those looking to rent a room or to sublet an apartment can contact property owners directly through the Roomster service. Likewise, property owners can search for potential tenants and contact them directly.

Of course you can go to the site, select the city you live in or the one that you plan on moving to, and begin looking through the listings without creating a profile. However, you will not be able to see the full details of the listing. Without registering you can only see a short summary such as:

“Respectful Renter/Roommate Wanted!” – woman, 65, San Francisco, CA, $400.00

Once you sign up and create a simple profile you’ll be able to use the search functions to find a room or potential renter:

Of course there’s plenty of other ways to search too. You can search through all of the roommate listings, rooms to rent, by rooms that have photos included, search for woman or men that have rooms to rent or who are looking to rent, search by a persons age, by how many rooms are available in the rental and or by price and coolest of all, you can even search for a potential roommate by their zodiac sign.

Additional features of the site include the ability to look at an area where a rental is located by using google maps, as well as the ability to leave quick messages, quick links, IM, and view the profile of last member that logged in.

Roomster offers free and full memberships. Free basic memberships allow members to search, post and contact all registered members absolutely free.

The site seems very easy to use and there’s so many different ways to search for a potential roommate that I’m sure most people will feel quite comfortable on Roomster. I know that if I ever decide to rent out a room in our house I’ll be visiting Roomster.

Check it out for yourself if you are renting out a room or looking for a roommate.

I wonder if I’ll live in a house or a condo when I get older?

September 7, 2007 by Tricia

The other day when I was walking with my brother after we’d finished our boat cruise my brother surprised me by saying that he and his wife were thinking of moving to downtown Toronto. They currently live outside of the city in a small, but very nice town called Aurora. They’ve been busy renovating their home over the last few years. Modernizing it and just making it more comfortable for themselves.

I guess that’s why I was so surprised when he said that they, well his wife, had been thinking of looking at some condominiums in the downtown area. Of course they’re not thinking of doing this immediately. They’re getting older and as my brother said, some day they might not want to maintain a large house. A condo might be easier to manage. Plus they’d be in the city and free to do some of the things they love to do such as attending live theater and musical performances.

I’m not sure that I’ll want to live in a condo when I get older. Prior to buying this house I lived in a very tiny apartment for over a decade! I loved the neighborhood, but hated the small apartment. I’m not sure that I’d want to live in an apartment style home again when I’m older. Perhaps when that time comes I’ll settle for a one story house. No stairs to climb, everything on the same floor. I think that would be easy enough to manage. I’d also still be able to garden if I was able to – I wouldn’t be able to do that in a condo!

Anyway, I recalled this conversation when I happened upon a website called 55+ communities which lists 55 different communities across the US that have been developed especially for aging baby boomers and retired folks. If you’ve been thinking of moving to a more manageable home have a look at the site. There’s some very nice communities highlighted there.
