Anglian Home improvements for UK home owners

August 7, 2007 by Tricia

Chris and I have been working on our own home renovation pretty much since the day we moved into our home 6 years ago. Frankly I’m getting tired of constantly being in a state of renovation and at the point where I’m almost ready to hire a company to finish what we’ve started.

If you happen to live in the UK and you are interested in renovating your home, or perhaps you’re like my husband and I and you’re ready to give up on your DIY home reno you might want to visit the Anglian Home improvements website.

Anglian has been in business for more than thirty six years and they have become renowned for their high quality home improvements.

Check out their Conservatory page to see the lovely work they’ve done creating conservatories in some of their past projects. They’re just lovely.

Anglian can help you with your home improvement project whether it’s a kitchen upgrade or a whole new door or front window. Visit their site and see what they can do for you.

Visit Taps4Less if you are updating or renovating your bathroom

August 6, 2007 by Tricia

If you are renovating or updating your bathroom you should take a moment to visit a site called Taps4Less.com. They specialize in the sale of Taps and all kinds of bathroom related items such as bathroom furniture, bathroom accessories, showers, electric showers, cabinets, bathtubs, shower enclosures and many more items.

Being both a nurse and gardener I’m partial to taps that have lever handles so that you can turn them on and off as well as adjust the flow and temperature of the water using your wrist. I’ve never thought about using an electric tap in our home, but it would accomplish the same goal.

I was pleased to note that Taps4Less.com has several of the lever handle type of taps that I like as well as a great variety of other tap styles and bathroom accessories.

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know I’m planning on renovating our tiny upstairs bathroom sometime in the near future. So we’re looking at all kinds of bathroom furnishings and accessories as we plan our reno. We still haven’t decided if we’ll expand the bathroom or leave it the way it is. If we leave it the size that it is we need a small sink and or bathroom cabinet.

Taps4Less.com definitely has some small cabinets that would fit perfectly into our current bathroom. I’m pleased to see that of course since it can be hard to find small cabinets. I really like their Reflections: Taunton complete wall hung basin set. It’s a large ceramic basin that sits on a tiny cabinet that’s more shelf than cabinet except for the fact that it has two small drawers. The set also comes with a free standing cabinet in black and white with chrome legs. It’s very modern and I just love the look.

As I said, if you are looking to update your bathroom take a look at the items at Taps4Less.com. I’m fairly certain that you’ll find some things that would suit your personal style. The prices also appear to be reasonable as well.

Our next reno project will be the bathroom

July 26, 2007 by Tricia

I have great news! Remember the other day I showed you some photos of bathroom vanities? Well I showed the website to my husband, pointing out the two main bathroom vanities that I liked best and he likes them too.

He’s agreed that our next reno project will be our upstairs bathroom! We’re going to seriously think about purchasing one of those vanities while they are still on sale.

I’m so excited! I’ll have the most beautiful bathroom when it’s done!

Help Me Pick Out A Beautiful Bathroom Vanity

July 25, 2007 by Tricia

I’m getting tired of our house being in a constant state of renovation.

Over the next month or so my husband and I hope to get back to work on our living room / dining room renovations. We’re almost done. It’s just that we’ve taken an extended break. All we have to do is put up the tin ceiling tiles, baseboard moldings, and ceiling moldings then we’ll be done and ready to move on to our next project.

Chris wants us to work on our basement next, but I’m so tired of our tiny bathroom that I might insist that our bathroom renovation take priority. After all, a girls got to have a nice bathroom, doesn’t she?

Our house was built in 1927 and it’s a solid brick somewhat old fashioned style. It has hardwood throughout and I’ve filled our home with a mix of modern and antique decor. I love modern styles and conveniences, but there’s nothing more beautiful to me than ornate well made traditional furnishings.

If our next major renovation project is the upstairs bathroom I think I’ve already found a store that sells the type of bathroom Furniture vanities that I’d like to use.

Take a look at this lovely Scroll leg Vessel Vanity Sink Cabinet:

scrolllegvessel.jpg Isn’t it lovely?

That’s what I meant when I said I love modern and antique to traditional design. This is a perfect combination of the two. I adore the look of vessel vanities, and this antique style scroll legged cabinet.

I actually wish that we were closer to beginning our bathroom renovation because this lovely bathroom vanity is on sale from now until August 7th.

There are many lovely bathroom vanities, bathroom cabinets and other types of bathroom furniture and decor at HomeLivingstyle.com. I’ve enjoyed just spending some time browsing through their selection. I’m pretty sure that if we did decide to purchase a bathroom vanity from HomeLivingstyle that I’d have a hard time deciding exactly which vanity cabinet to buy.

There’s another vanity that caught my eye that has an even more antique cabinet style.

twistcolumnvanitysink.jpg I like this Twist column vanity sink cabinet because the cabinet actually looks very similar in style to the two antique dressers that we have in our bedroom.

Now I’m getting excited about finishing our current renovation and starting the bathroom reno. The actual renovation project can be fun if you get into it, but I love picking out new furnishings and I’m pretty sure that I’ve just narrowed down some of my bathroom decor choices.

What do you think of my choices? Which one do you like best?

If you are thinking of replacing your current bathroom vanity or bathroom cabinet take a look at HomeLivingStyle. They have a large selection of bathroom vanities and cabinets in different style and sizes.

Our skylight is leaking!

July 19, 2007 by Tricia

It’s been raining and raining here all day. At around 6 am it was coming down so hard I could barely see out the window. It’s rained hard on and off all day, but I believe it rained the hardest early in the morning.

At least twice today we’ve seen the skylight in our enclosed porch leak. We installed it a couple of years and it’s been very solid without any problems except one leak after a very hard rain last year.

When we had a similar rain last year that fell directly down on the skylight ( a direction the rain doesn’t normally fall in) it leaked. Chris got up on the enclosed porch roof and did a bit of work sealing up the area we though the leak came from last year and we hadn’t had another problem until today.

This makes me wonder if we’ll ever put in another skylight. Chris would really like one upstairs in the ceiling over the staircase. I agree with him that it would help let more light into the north end of the house, but if it’s going to leak every once in a while like this one is then no … I don’t want it.

Does anyone have any repair ideas? We installed the skylight ourselves even adding extra sealant and rubber? around it to prevent leaks. I’m really disappointed that it’s leaking now.
