Looking Young and Beautiful

September 25, 2012 by Trish

Looking Young and Beautiful
The quest for the fountain of youth has been pursued for hundreds of years, and no one has truly found all of the secrets. However, you can look as young and beautiful as possible at all times by following some simple techniques.

Keep Skin Vibrant
It is generally recommended that people should drink 64 ounces of water per day. Doing so will make you feel better, but it will also help your skin to look more vibrant. Once you start consuming this much water per day, you will likely notice a difference on your face very soon. You should also exfoliate your face and body to remove dry and dead skin cells.

Take Pride
One of the reasons people often start to look frumpy is because they stop caring about their looks. Hop into the shower in the morning, and you’ll feel so much better. Unless you’re just lounging around the house all day, put on fresh clothing and do your hair and makeup. If you don’t have the time for a full application, use some foundation, blush and mascara and put some mousse into your hair for a casual vibe. How you look and how you feel are closely connected. If you feel like a slob who is constantly adorned in sweatpants, you are going to start feeling like a bum.

Buy New Products
Each type of makeup has its own lifespan. This is especially for sanitary reasons, as mascaras, for instance, can transmit bacteria to your eyes if they are left around for too long. However, when makeup is old, its color and staying power also start to fade. Eyeshadows can lose their luster. Foundations that were once the perfect fit may start to slightly discolor, so be sure to replace makeup products regularly. Additionally, sometimes your hair can grow tired of the same shampoo and conditioner. If you notice strands looking dull, try a new shampoo and conditioner combination to give them the extra bursts of energy that they need.

Diet and Exercise
Of course, no one should assume that only thin people can be beautiful. Beauty is attributable to people of all shapes and sizes. However, health-whether it comes in a large box or a small one-is certainly a sign of beauty and youth. Engaging in physical activities and exercises can make your body healthier overall, and your stamina and strength will shine through making you appear younger. Just as water can help the body take on that youthful glow, so can eating the right foods. Remember, youth and beauty are often associated with health, so do all that you can to keep yourself in optimal shape.

Looking young and beautiful is a goal that so many people have. However, remember that looks are not the most important part of a person. It’s more important to be happy on the inside. When you are happy on the inside, that will absolutely shine through to the outside world and you will appear just as beautiful as a supermodel.

I seem to be fighting a bug

November 12, 2011 by Tricia

I’ve been so busy working on another project the last couple of weeks that I haven’t had time to update this blog. Sorry! I guess it doesn’t help that I’ve also been sick with some kind of respiratory infection too does it? I think that’s getting worse as well – I’m kind of wheezy this evening and I’m crossing my fingers hoping that whatever this is isn’t turning into bronchitis or pneumonia!

I think I’m going to pamper myself later tonight. Soak in the tub and then treat my skin with some premier dead sea skin care products that a friend sent me this past week. The steam from the bath will do my respiratory system good and the skin care products will do my skin good.

Have you been fighting any bugs that are going around at this time of year? Usually I’m ok and I don’t get every little thing that’s going around, but this year I seem to be catching everything. I think I’m just too stressed out lately or something.

My skin is tired of winters cold dry air

February 26, 2011 by Tricia

My skin is so dry. I hate winter! It’s so hard on the skin. We have humidifiers running in our house and I know that helps, my skin would be even drier without them, but I can’t wait until spring arrives and the air begins to have a little more moisture in it. I know my skin will appreciate it.

I complain that my skin feels dry but I’m not always the best about putting moisturizer on. So every few days when my skin really feels dry I really slather my hands and arms with hand cream until it feels better. I’m sure if I did it regularly my skin wouldn’t suddenly feel like I just came out of the desert or something. Of course, ever since we got our dog I kind of stopped putting hand and body cream on my skin because my dog is a licker. I can’t get a good answer from most of the skin cream companies as to whether their products are safe if pets lick them off our skin … so I don’t use them as much as I would if I didn’t have a dog that loved to lick.

I just slathered my hands with hand cream … I almost feel like I should have put wrinkle cream on them though! Hopefully they feel better soon. Does your skin ever get so dry that you feel like one coat of skin cream just won’t fix the problem?

As I said earlier I’ll be happier when spring and summer arrive. My skin loves the humidity.

Eczema worse in Winter?

February 26, 2011 by Tricia

I don’t know if it’s the cold dry air, the weather or just me, but my eczema seems to be getting worse and worse.

I’ve had eczema on and off ever since I was a young child. I think it first appeared on one of my legs oddly enough. In fact, I didn’t get a smallpox vaccine as a child because of the eczema and because my sister had/has as bad case of eczema as well. Apparently eczema and the smallpox vaccine don’t get along so they didn’t want to take a chance vaccinating me for something that there was little chance of me getting.

Skip forward to 2001/ 2002 when the government was seriously thinking of having all front line workers vaccinated against smallpox in case of terrorist threats etc. Being an Emergency Room nurse I would have been required to be vaccinated. I would have either had to risk my health and get the vaccination or change jobs. As it turned out the government canceled the plan for some reason, but I’m sure at some point in the future they’ll think about activating that plan again. Sigh.

Anyway … back to my current eczema problem .. I have this spot on my wrist that just won’t go away. I’m going to try a new treatment for eczema that I’m hoping will make it go away once and for all. I’ve tried so many over the years with varying results, I guess it’s worth giving yet another one a try.

If you have eczema does it get worse in the winter time or at any other particular time of year?
