I’m missing out

September 8, 2007 by Tricia

I’m not feeling well again today. Are you as sick of hearing that as I am?

It’s a real drag. I had plans for the day. Exciting plans.

I wanted to go downtown and perhaps see one of the films being shown at the Toronto Film Festival. If I couldn’t get into one of the films I’d planned to walk around the area where the majority of films and parties were being held to see if I could spot some stars.

Naturally I would have had my camera with me to take photographs of the stars.

The other thing that I had on the agenda was to plant some plants that I purchased last week. I bought some beautiful carnations, some very cool looking daisies, two different colors of Heather, and some kale and ornamental cabbage plants. I love the last two in the fall as they get quite colorful when the weather gets cool and look very attractive in the garden.

Oh and we also wanted to get some fire glass for our gas fireplace. Man is that stuff cool. We’ve got to get some by the time autumn comes around and we start using the fireplace more often.

Well there’s still tomorrow. Actually the film festivals on all week so there’s lots of time for me to get downtown to do some film and star sightings. I suspect some of the best sightings might be this weekend though.

I’ve had enough

September 6, 2007 by Tricia

I had an awful day yesterday. I didn’t sleep and by late morning my stomach started acting up which of course made it impossible to sleep as I had to keep getting up to run to the washroom. Yeah that kind of bad day.

I’m so sick of being sick. I wish I could just get a transplant for my intestines or something.

Buy a clue!

August 24, 2007 by Tricia

You know, as bad as Crohns is for me, there’s a few things that come with it that often make me laugh. Well, when I’m in a good mood anyways, sometimes it can be hurtful or insulting.

What am I talking about? Well when people don’t understand the disease. In no way do I expect everyone that I happen to meet or talk to, to become an expert on Crohns, but a little understanding would be nice.

Chris’ family just has NO clue about what crohn’s is. I mean, I’ve only known them for seventeen years and I’ve had crohn’s the whole time. You’d expect that they’d know what I go through, but they don’t.

Chris’ aunt for example is convince that I’ll feels so much better if I do one of those colon cleanse treatments. Well I suppose if I was blocked up maybe I would, but I’ve never read anything about those treatments curing Crohn’s or inflammation of the bowel or healing scar tissue.

Every time I talk to my mother in law she’s surprised if I tell her I’m in pain. If we discuss the fact that I regularly take pain medication she always seems like she’s never heard me talk about it before too. It’s so weird!

What are your in laws like? Obviously mine are a little clueless.

It’d be nice to be able to see a doctor when I’m sick

August 22, 2007 by Tricia

Here it is another Wednesday and I still haven’t done my Wordless Wednesday post. At least this time I don’t think it’s Tuesday or something. That’s happened recently.

I’m still just plain not feeling well. Yesterday I had massive fevers and I suspect that I do today as well. I just haven’t bothered to stick a thermometer in my mouth yet to find out. What’s the point anyway – I’ve almost always got a fever these days.

I can’t get an appointment with my gastrointernologist for two months! Even though I’ve gone downhill he’s just too booked up to see me until then. I am on the waiting list though so if someone cancels I might get an earlier appointment.

I guess if I get any worse before I can see my doctor I’ll have to go to the ER. I really don’t want to do that, but the fact that I’m getting sicker and having so many more fevers probably means I’ve got an abscess somewhere in my abdomen, or that the one that they’ve thought I’ve had for a couple of years is getting worse. Isn’t Crohn’s a lovely disease.

I’ve also still got my headache. It was a full blown migraine on Sunday, but since then it’s just been a tolerable headache. Funny that it gets worse when my fever goes up. That’s why I think I’ve got another abscess or infection going on. Headaches, fevers and infection seem to go hand in hand.

So, as a result of my not feeling so hot I have been slow to respond to email, blogroll requests and as you can see I haven’t been replying to comments on my blogs either. I’m very sorry about that.

I really appreciate the kind words that have been left on my “I’m sick” posts, and your sometimes funny and always interesting comments that you’ve been leaving on my regular posts. I will try to get around to replying to those soon.

I always appreciate the visitors to my various sites and I hope that no one has taken my lack of response the wrong way. I just don’t have the energy to reply sometimes.

Oh my head!

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

I’m having terrible luck these days.

I feel like I’ve been getting sicker and sicker with my Crohn’s disease over the last few weeks. Then last week I had flu like symptoms that hung on until Saturday or so and then as if that wasn’t bad enough I woke up with a terrible migraine on Sunday.

My headache was so bad that I lay on the couch most of the day and evening and took far too many Tylenol. Late in the evening I tried putting a heating pad on my neck and shoulders and it helped a bit but not enough.

Finally Chris offered to massage my neck and shoulders so I sat on the floor in front of him while he kneaded my neck, shoulders and back. Every time he tried to massage with a bit of force it hurt really bad. I know he wasn’t massaging hard at all but it left my whole upper back and lower neck feeling bruised! In fact the area still has a tender bruised feeling and it’s more than 48 hours later!

Oh and I still have a headache! Not as bad as on Sunday, but it’s still there.

I wish all these aches, pains and symptoms would just go away. Even if they’d only disappear for a day I’d be happy.
