So tired this week

February 14, 2012 by Tricia

I’m really tired this week. I’m not sure why. I suppose it’s because I was so busy last week and last weekend what with my cousin passing away and my traveling out of town for her funeral. It all happened so fast. Then when I got home I was very tired on the Sunday and kind of nauseated so I didn’t do anything at all that day.

I was still really tired and out of sorts on Monday too. I think I’m just starting to feel a little more like myself today, but I’m still tired.

Oh well … I’ll live!

In other news I’m working at keeping in touch with family members like I said in a recent post. I was just talking with a cousin of mine in the US. We haven’t talked much in the last few years so we talked for quite a while earlier today. He’s doing ok and his kids are doing well in school, but I guess times are tough there. I guess he’s had a bit of financial trouble and he said something about title loans philadelphia. I think he had to get a title loan on his car? I don’t really understand title loans all that much. I think he’s fixed that situation now though.

It was good talking with my cousin. I’m going to try to keep in touch with him and a few of my other cousins and other relatives more often. If I’m still feeling a little off this week I’ll just relax and make phone calls. At least I’ll be doing something productive.

What’s with the power failures tonight?

February 11, 2012 by Tricia

I can’t believe how many times the powers gone out tonight!

I was out of town for two days and I came home to the power being out. I have no idea how long it was off that first time or if that was even the first time it was off today. Luckily it was still daylight out so I didn’t might the power failure all that much.

The next time the power went out I was trying to eat dinner and of course just as I was starting to eat I was suddenly in darkness. Just as I got up to get a flash light so I could start lighting some candles the lights and the led over the dinner table went on. It was out for long enough that I went searching for alternative light sources.

Then just a few minutes ago the power went out again for about five minutes!

It’s snowing out fairly hard now too … so I have a feeling that the power will go out one or two more times. It’s also absolutely freezing too! I could be in for a very cold dark night

My traveling brother

January 31, 2012 by Tricia

I feel a little sorry for one of my brothers. He’s traveled every week so far this year for his job. I know some people do that all the time, but it’s unusual for him and when you aren’t used to traveling that often it can take a lot out of you.

I suppose it’s a good sign for him that his company is having him travel to their head office in Montreal so often. They must have a lot of confidence in him. At least he can visit with his son when he’s in Montreal – that’s one plus. Another plus is that my brother used the conferencing service to call my sister, my brother in Vancouver and I last week for a family conference call. That was kind of cool. Of course he could do that any time from his Toronto office, but he rarely does.

I don’t think my brother is traveling this week. If he isn’t it’s the first week this year that he hasn’t had to fly out of town. I’m sure he’s happy!

Do you travel for work a lot? Do you like it?

Helping a relative start a business

January 31, 2012 by Tricia

One of my nephews has been thinking of starting his own business for a while now. I’ve been talking with him on and off for months, giving him ideas and helping him come up with a business plan. Now he’s at the stage of putting all his plans into action and I’m just dying to see his business take off. I know he can do it.

First though .. he needs to rent some space and I think he’ll have to look into small business equipment financing because I don’t think he can afford all of the equipment he needs on his own just yet.

I don’t want to say what his business idea is just yet, but once he gets started you can be sure I’ll be writing about it and helping getting the word out about his new business. He considers me his PR person. LOL

Up and down the stairs – doing the laundry …

January 24, 2012 by Tricia

I’m trying to get some laundry done tonight but I started late so I think the dryers going to be going until midnight. Oops!

I should have started doing the laundry earlier but I was busy doing something else and completely forgot. I have a guest coming this weekend so I stripped the bed in one of the spare rooms and I’m washing all the bedding.

I wish I had a laundry room upstairs rather than in the basement. Our basement has a low ceiling and I’m tall so I’m always hitting my head on the duct work. Not fun! Plus the floor is really cold to walk on at this time of year. What we really should do is put in new basement floor tiles – maybe with some radiant heating below them. Now that would be nice. Actually, before doing that it would make sense to dig out the basement floor so that the ceiling wouldn’t be so low.

Must win Lottery!
