Funny commercials

February 9, 2007 by Tricia

I just spent the last half hour or so over at Youtube.com watching videos. It’s kind of fun searching for something in particular and then just traveling from one video to another as Youtube suggests new ones for you to watch.

That’s how I happened to find this funny commercial video. It has four or five partial commercials in it and it’s pretty funny.

I think I like the lady beating up the vending machine best.

Which one did you enjoy the most?

Catch up on your Soap Opera episodes

January 25, 2007 by Tricia

Who likes watching a good Soap Opera every now and then? I’m sure many of my readers are into the soaps. I know people who’ve watched them since they were teenagers, coming home from school on their lunch breaks, watching their favorite soaps as they had their meal and then rushing home after school to catch a late afternoon soap opera.

Can you believe that I’ve never really been all that into Soaps? Yes, I know, I’m an unusual woman. You guys should have already figured that one out by now though. I did however watch an episode of the Young and the Restless this afternoon. It was the first time I’ve watched a whole episode in perhaps two years! Oh I know you Soap lovers are shaking your heads at what I’ve been missing aren’t you?

Well, since I know that so many of you adore soap operas I thought I’d tell you about a soap opera website that I just visited. It has recaps of your favorite episodes, juicy gossip in the discussion forums, interviews with the soap stars and even some spoilers about what’s coming up in the popular soaps that you guys love.

I think it’s great for the Soap Opera watchers that there’s such a well rounded informative site to visit. I know, having worked in the ER department of the hospital (not lately because I’m sick) that many nurses and shift workers watch the Soaps but often end up missing an episode here and there because of their work. Well now, if you miss an episode at least you’ll have a great new site to go to and catch up on what you missed.

Check it out.

Comment on Watching House and you could win $500

January 11, 2007 by Tricia

I just discovered that 451press is having a contest. One of my other blogs is located on the 451press network. It’s called Watching House and it’s all about the hit television show House M.D.. I also dish about Hugh Laurie and the other stars of the show on the site too.

It would be great to get some more visitors and some regular readers for my newest blog, and now 451press has created a contest that will help me, and all the other bloggers on the 451press network gain some readers.

Stop by and leave a quality comment on Watching House or any of the other 451press blogs, and for each comment that you leave that adds to the sites content or contributes to the article you will receive an entry to win the grand prize of $500.

The 451press Comment Contest will be held from now until January 31st, and at the end of the contest a random draw will take place and 6 prizes will be awarded. 1 for $500 and 5 more for $100 each. Nice eh? I bet you could use that money right after the expense of the holidays.

Visit the 451press blog for complete contest rules. BTW that’s the only site on 451press where you comments won’t count as entries for the contest.

I luv my DVR

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned in the past that I have a DVR. In case you aren’t sure what a DVR is, it’s a Digital Video Recorder. You might know it by names such a TIVO. I rent mine through my cable provider Rogers Cable, but since not everyone uses Rogers you might get one from companies such as DirectTV or other large cable and satellite television providers.

We used ours this past weekend to record some of the World Junior Hockey Championship – which of course it appears Canada is winning. HA! Some of the games were early, and others fell when my husband was out of town at his families home so he wanted to record them so that he could see the full games, and also because his brother and nephew from Chicago were coming here for a visit. They’re a hockey loving family so having some pre-recorded games on the DVR was great. They sat around watching hockey games last night. (I fell asleep on the couch- oh well).

When the regular TV season is upon us – like next week when shows like 24 start up, when Lost Returns and when all the regulars that we’ve been watching since September like House, Desperate Housewives, all the CSI’s etc come back on I’ll be using my DVR to record the programs. You see many of the shows that both my husband and I like to watch are on at the same time. Without a DVR we’d be out of luck as far as catching both shows. My DVR also comes in handy when I go out of town or when I’m working (I know I’m off sick now, but when I was working) because I would never miss my favorite shows. Even if I came home at midnight I could still sit and watch all the shows that I love and skip the commercials too by using my remote to fast forward through them.

Who else has a DVR or Tivo? Do you love it? If you don’t have a DVR and want to learn more about these amazing digital recorders you can get more info on the DVR Websites listed on this page. I think it would be a good item to have in your home if you have kids or if you have a busy lifestyle.

The DVR actually begins to record every show that you watch. So if the phone rings while you are watching your favorite show you can use your remote and put the show on pause, take your call, or put your kids to bed, and then come back and hit play and your show will begin where you left off. Or if you forget to do that you can rewind back to where you left off.

I Love it!

Saddam Dead!

December 29, 2006 by Tricia

Sadam was hanged at 9:55 pm EST, sunrise in Iraq. this happened less than 30 minutes ago.

Digg this story – http://digg.com/politics/Saddam_Hussein_Dead_3

Update: 4:25 a.m EST December 30th – We ended up watching CNN for hours. In fact as I sit here writing posts for the next few days I still have CNN playing on my TV. I really wasn’t watching in the hope that I would seen Saddam hanged. I would never want to watch something like that – no matter how evil a person might be.

At 4:10 a.m. CNN finally was able to show some video related to Saddam Hussein’s hanging. The video had just been aired on Iraq TV, and quickly dispersed throughout the worlds news agencies. CNN showed video of Saddam being led into the gallows, shackled and handcuffed, and wearing what appeared to be a dark suit coat. He refused the head covering that was offered to him.

The gallowmen, what do you call those people anyway?, were wearing what appeared to be ski masks and looked very much like men dressed to rob a bank or a store. One of the men placed the head gear around Husseins neck, perhaps to protect his skin, and then placed the noose over his head and tightened it around his neck. The video freezes, as it apparently did on Iraq TV as well, with Saddam standing in position on the gallows looking straight ahead.

He looked resigned to his fate – but neither brave nor defiant – just resigned.

I’m still deciding how I feel about his hanging. Certainly he was an evil man who harmed and killed many. One commentator on CNN said that he might be responsible for killing as many as 2 million of his own people. I do think he might have been hanged too soon. I would have liked to see him stand trial for his crimes against the Kurds.

When Chris and I lived in the apartment we had a very nice Kurdish couple living above us. Both of them had lost many family members to Saddam when he gassed his own people. The Iraqi couple that lived above us left the country shortly after Husseins attack on the kurds. They missed their family, living and dead, terribly but new that they needed to make a life for themselves away from their homeland. Perhaps moving from the country was the only way they could make a good life for themselves after that.

It’s for my former neighbors, and other Iraqis that I know that I wish Saddam had stood trial for the majority of the wrongs that he’d done.

How do you feel about his death?
