Wordless Wednesday

trees at beach

I feel bleak, cold, gray ….

Sorry. I haven’t posted for a few days because I’ve been very sick.

I’ve had fevers high enough to melt the little pads off my mouse (that make it glide easily) when I lie on my side on the couch looking at my laptop computer. Now that’s hot.

Just as I was about to start posting on Tuesday afternoon I looked at the stats for several of my sites and discovered that some very hypocritical elite bloggers had made a post about my gardening blog. My first post after my illness imposed blogging break was a rebuttal on my gardening blog against hypocritical bloggers.

So yes this old picture of trees in early spring that I took at Toronto’s beaches a few years ago reflects how I’m feeling right now.

Sad. Angry. frustrated. Bleak …

I wonder if someone were to kiss this crowned frog if it would turn into Prince Charming?

This is another piece of metal artwork that my husband and I saw when we went to the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in downtown Toronto during the summer.

The show was fantastic, but I enjoyed the metal art work the most.

I’d love to have this metal sculpture either in my garden or on our front porch to greet visitors.

Our neighbors house is for sale!

September 28, 2007 by Tricia

Chris should be home from work any minute so I just went to the door to unlock it for him and while I was there I peeked outside. Chris walks home from work since we only live about three blocks away from the Hospital. I didn’t see him, but I did see a For Sale sign on our karaoke neighbors lawn!

Yeah! Finally!

They must have had a ton of repairs to do before they could put their house up for sale. I heard sawing noises as late as yesterday and hammering etc as early as what? Mid- August or so?

I’m not certain it’s their best moving putting their house up for sale at this time of year. They have a teenage son and they say that they want to move close to the husbands work (which really isn’t all that far from here) so does that mean their son will have to change schools? I think he’s in grade nine or ten. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have wanted to change schools while in one of those grades. Poor kid.

Well, we’ll see how things go. If they do sell I hope we get better, quieter neighbors! If we don’t, well, that will just re-enforce the fact that the next home we buy will be detached!

Found a new Greek restaurant – Yum!

September 27, 2007 by Tricia

The other night we ordered Greek food from a new Greek restaurant in the area. OMG it was sooooo good!

Our favorite Greek restaurant to order from closed last year for renovations. They were closed for months. When they finally opened up again they no longer delivered or even did take out! What a pity.

We’d found another Greek restaurant to order take out food from, but it wasn’t as good as our previous favorite so we hadn’t had a Greek dinner that we’d truly enjoyed for quite a while.

Until Tuesday night that is.

Tuesday night we decided to order from the new Greek restaurant. We’d had a flyer/menu stuck in our door a few weeks ago. Chris had wanted to try the restaurant earlier this month, but I was hesitant. Since I was so busy doing work on the computer that night I finally gave in and said “sure lets give it a try”.

I’m so happy that I did say yes!

I think I was saying Mmmmm for most of the meal. Very unusual for me because I can be kind of picky about my food.

We ordered Saganaki, Spanakopita, a Greek salad all to share and then Chris ordered a gyro dinner for himself while I had the grilled lamb chops. The servings were quite large so we only ate half the food we ordered. This was good of course because you know we had some tasty leftovers last night. The other bonus is that this meal was at least $20 cheaper than what we would have paid at our former favorite Greek restaurant.

Mmmmmmmmmm

Now I’ve got to think of something for tonights dinner … hmmm … probably too soon to order out again, eh?

Is it summer again? It’s so hot and humid!

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

I can’t believe how hot it is today! It’s after 9 pm and it’s 28 Celsius with a humidity factor that makes it feel like it’s 36 Celsius outside! Do you know how hot 36 C is? That’s 96.8 F.

Isn’t it autumn now? Am I not in a country that the rest of the world thinks is cold all the time?

It’s normal for it to be in the low 70’s or high 60’s during the day and cool to perhaps the low 50’s at this time of year in this area. That won’t be happening tonight. It’s supposed to be fairly warm for another day or two and then we’ll get back to normal seasonal temperatures.

Well … maybe my Tomatoes that I had to bring into our enclosed porch last week when the night time temps dropped to freezing last week will have a chance at continuing to grow. There’s several small to medium sized green tomatoes on the two plants that I brought into the porch. I’d love for them to ripen!

We got off to a slow start with our Tomatoes this year. I planted them too late and the strange “cool then hot plus not enough rain” summer we had didn’t help. We’ve only had one ripe full sized tomato so far and I love tomatoes.

I learned my lesson though. Next year I’m starting my tomatoes in March and planting them in mid-May if the weathers co-operating.

You know how much I love tomatoes? I can eat them like an apple. Yum.
