More doctors appointments ahead

December 5, 2011 by Tricia

Well it looks like I’m going to have a busy week with doctors appointments – again.

Tomorrow I have to see my Endocrinologist to find out the results of my thyroid biopsy and blood test results. Hopefully everything is ok and we’ll just keep an eye on the tumor on my thyroid for a while longer.

Then, on Wednesday I have an appointment with my family doctor. She’s always behind by about an hour, so I’ll be bringing my Kindle with me to keep me busy!

Speaking of keeping busy … I was bored on the weekend – Chris was away again and I decided to see what was on TV. I ended up watching an old episode of Restaurant Makeover. Do you ever watch that show? It ended up being about a restaurant I know – in fact the restaurant is owned by a friend of ours wife’s family. I know when they had the makeover done the restaurant was practically torn down top to bottom and the menu was redone. They even had a new Restaurant System put in. It wasn’t the same restaurant at all when the makeover team was finished.

Have you ever been to a restaurant that’s had a makeover – either one they’ve done themselves or had done professionally as in by a designer etc? Did you like the restaurant as much or more afterwards?

My dog is so spoiled!

November 29, 2011 by Tricia

I think by now everyone in our neighborhood knows our dog Midnight. Luckily it’s a fairly dog friendly neighborhood as there are quite a few people around with dogs of their own. Our Lab seems to be well liked by most people that meet her – and I’m thankful for that. Of course she’s a friendly girl and I’ve tried my best to train her well.

I think our dog has been getting spoiled lately.  Naturally she’s just loving every minute of it.  About three months ago we found a very nice round dog bed and we put it in our bedroom for her to use whenever she’s upstairs and she just loves it.  Whenever she comes upstairs she goes in each room – two spare rooms and the main bedroom and jumps on each bed, and then she jumps down and rolls around on her doggy bed.  I guess it’s no wonder that I’ve nicknamed her “Goldy Locks” what with her trying out all the beds to see which one she likes best. LOL

Just like the information listed above, my dog must have her favorite toy. I think she has it with her pretty much wherever she goes in the house.  She tries to bring it outside with her too .. but when she has brought it outside she’s tried to bury it so we don’t let her bring her favorite bone outdoors too often.  I’m sure she’d freak out if she lost it!

Do you spend a lot of time with your dog or cat?  Do you pamper your pet too?  Tell me what you do with your pet.

Puncture marks in my neck!

November 24, 2011 by Tricia

I’m in recovery mode tonight. Earlier today I had to go to the hospital for a thyroid biopsy. I’ve had thyroid biopsies before and normally it’s not that bad, but this time my neck is pretty sore. It’s swollen too. I think everything is ok though – I’m certainly keeping an eye on things.

The irony of the situation is that I’m supposed to have a thyroid biopsy every 6 months but because my doctors be very slow this “6 month check up” has taken almost two years! Hopefully the results are benign again. If they are I’ll buy my doctor some cohiba cigars dominican as a gift … well maybe not … I have been waiting a long time to have this test done.

I think I’ll go and get an icepack to put on the side of my neck. It sort of feels like a cross between a sore throat (it hurts a bit to swallow) and pulled neck muscles, so I’m sure the cold pack will help a bit.

I seem to be fighting a bug

November 12, 2011 by Tricia

I’ve been so busy working on another project the last couple of weeks that I haven’t had time to update this blog. Sorry! I guess it doesn’t help that I’ve also been sick with some kind of respiratory infection too does it? I think that’s getting worse as well – I’m kind of wheezy this evening and I’m crossing my fingers hoping that whatever this is isn’t turning into bronchitis or pneumonia!

I think I’m going to pamper myself later tonight. Soak in the tub and then treat my skin with some premier dead sea skin care products that a friend sent me this past week. The steam from the bath will do my respiratory system good and the skin care products will do my skin good.

Have you been fighting any bugs that are going around at this time of year? Usually I’m ok and I don’t get every little thing that’s going around, but this year I seem to be catching everything. I think I’m just too stressed out lately or something.

Getting the house and yard ready for Fall and Winter

October 20, 2011 by Tricia

Winter is coming and we’ve started working to prepare our yard and garden for winter and now it’s time to get the house ready for winter too.

Can you believe I still have plants on my enclosed front porch? It’s getting cold out and usually by now I have all those plants indoors but I haven’t brought any of them in yet. I guess I’d better do that very soon.

We’ve also been doing things like cleaning our windows so that we go into the winter with clean windows. One side of our house is covered in plaster dust it seems from our neighbors renovations and we’ve been trying to get the dirt off our windows for a while .. I think it’s almost gone.

I think some time this weekend I’ll also go into our basement storage area and look at our Halloween and Christmas Decorations. I haven’t decorated for either holiday for a couple of years but this year I might decorate for both. I usually decorate the front porch and front yard. It’s quite festive. Of course it’s a little early for the Christmas stuff .. but I can make sure the lights work and so on.

One other thing I’d like to do is get a new door mat. The one that we have now is getting old and tired looking. It’d be nice to get a custom door mat perhaps with our names on it or a custom greeting. One of my brothers used to always have a custom door mat and I always thought it was a nice touch.

Have started getting your house and yard ready for the cool season – if you have a cool season that is? It’s a bit of work isn’t it?
