Read about Asian Celebrities

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Here’s an interesting site for my Asian visitors. I just visited an Asian Entertainment site, and by all appearances it looks to be very much like a celebrity site, similar to my own Celebrity Scoop except that it’s all about famous Asian celebrities.

The site is called Asia entertainment news, and it features news about Asian celebrities and socialites from China, HK, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The site keeps up with news of these celebrities whether they are in their home Countries or abroad in Europe or North America. It’s also written in English.

It’s an interesting read even for non Asians as I’ve recognized some of the stars who’ve been written about on the site as having made a name in film or music here in North America.

The site has a nice, easy to read format and it’s filled with photos of the stars. Visit the site if you are interested in Asian celebrities.

Get a better job with a language training course

January 17, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve just come across a site that my readers might be interested in if you are either planning a vacation to a Country where the language spoken isn’t one that you know well, or if you are planning on working in a Country where having a second or third language might be to your advantage.

Travelers, nurses, doctors and engineers might be interested in visiting the Language Trainers website. They offer courses for people with no previous knowledge of a language – ie in the case of someone visiting a foreign Country for an extended vacation. I know I’d love to have at least a basic understanding of a Countries native tongue if I was going to visit a Country for a month or more.

They also offer Business Language Courses for people who are moving to other Countries for work purposes. That’s why I mentioned professions such as Nursing, Doctors and Engineers earlier as all of these professionals are often needed for work in the Middle East, and Europe and knowing the language of the people with whom you are working is very important.

The Language Trainers not only offer Business Language Courses. They also offer exam preparation Courses for people who need to prove knowledge and training in a particular language for their employer or in order to enter University. Business courses are also available to those who need to learn a second or third language for their workplace.

Courses are offered in many different languages. Please visit the Language Trainers for more information and pricing.

I’ll never be rich

January 11, 2007 by Tricia

Do you ever wonder who the richest people in the world are? I got into a conversation with a friend the other day, and I can’t remember exactly how it started but we ended up talking about not just millionaires, but billionaires. Do you know how much money a billion dollars really is? I was being silly and I tried to look up how much space a billion dollars would take to store but I couldn’t come up with an answer. My guess is that it would probably fill my house.

Bill Gates is, of course, the worlds richest man with an estimated 46 billion dollars according to a 2004 list of billionaires that I found. I guess he’s probably worth even more now. Can you imagine having that much money? I’d be happy to have a spare $50,000. Then there’s guys like George Lindemann Jr. who only had 1.2 billion dollars in 2004. Poor in comparison to a man like Bill Gates. Actually Lindemann was number 494 on the list of 2004 billionaires. Can you imagine that with 1.2 billion dollars in your name that there are still 493 people who are even richer than you?

It’s just mind boggling!

If I earn, let alone have 1 million dollars in the bank in my life time it will be a miracle. Doesn’t that just make you feel so poor? Billions and billions of dollars and here we are struggling to pay the bills.

Back to normal

January 9, 2007 by Tricia

Alright. I should be back to normal posting now. I’ve been up all night, nothing unusual in that, writing in all my sites, and creating back up posts. This is the last blog I’m working on for a while.

I got my first true flame yesterday. Not my first flame ever – I’ve had those on the reptile mailing lists that I run, not usually directed towards me though.

Amazingly my first blog flame was on As the Garden Grows, my gardening blog. What do you think I could have possibly posted that would get someone so angry that they’d call me an idiot three or four times? Well, it was my post “Amazing Weather“.

It seems that the person took offense to the fact that I said it’s often -10 Celsius (14 F) during the day here in Toronto in January and even colder at night. They told me that I should discuss things that I know nothing of. Unfortunately they didn’t seem to notice that they were commenting on a gardening blog – I think most gardeners are very aware of the weather year round. Plus I’ve lived in Toronto for 23 years. I think I know what I’m talking about.

My commenter, who wrote like this “so know b4 u speak u stupid idiot. ppl like u that don’t know facts b4 the speak make others think that Toronto is that cold” Gee with grammar and proper spelling like that I should take this person seriously shouldn’t I? Especially when they compliment me by calling me a stupid idiot. LOL

I think that persons just a heart attack waiting to happen if they let a gardening post about nice weather get them so upset.

I don’t understand why people letting the little things in life like this get them so upset. It doesn’t make sense.

What kind of person are you?

Do you fly off the handle at little things when you think you are right and someone else is wrong?

Or do you let it slide and save your energy for bigger problems that really do need a response?

Disasterous Hockey game

January 3, 2007 by Tricia

We’re home from the hockey game. The Toronto Marlee’s lost something like 8 or 9 to 1, Geeeeez the Marlees are a bunch of brawlers. If those are the guys that are going to be sent to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the next year or two we’re going to keep losing for a long time to come.

Within the first 14 seconds of the game there was a pile of players punching each other and 4 penalties given out. I think the marlees got over 20 penalties through the game. Plus, when they have the puck and have an opening they don’t shoot the puck. They wait until their blocked and then shoot it. I must have seen 5 brawls in all. The last two were most of the teams fighting each other again – so that happened three times!

As I said earlier I’m not a big hockey fan at all. I barely understand the rules, but even if someone like me could see how bad they were playing then it’s bad.

Oh well it was nice to get out. I don’t get out much lately so this was fun – even if the marlee’s sucked the big one.
