Scummy renter neighbors about to be kicked out

March 3, 2010 by Tricia

I know I’ve said it before, but it really does look like we might be getting rid of our awful renter neighbors soon. I certainly hope that we will!

We got a call last week from the home owners daughter in law. She said that they’d been trying to kick out our horrid renter neighbors since December! That was news to me because we’d called them to complain about a few of the things the renter neighbors were doing in December and they didn’t say a word.

Anyway … they haven’t paid rent since December and we know they were late on rent in November …pretty bad record since they only moved in in the middle of September huh? But of course our friends that had lived in an apartment building with these scummy people had told us that they wouldn’t be there long as they have a record of not paying rent or bills and just generally being awful people.

They were supposed to be out my March 1st. If they weren’t out, according to the owners daughter in law, the Sheriff was going to come on March 2nd – yesterday, and lock them out.

Well that didn’t happen. So I don’t know if they came up with the almost $5000 they apparently owe or if the Sheriff’s office is backed up and there’s been a delay in their eviction. I think I’ll be called the owners daughter in law later this evening to see what’s happening because we want these people gone just as much or possibly more than they do!

I have a feeling once they get their house back and the scum of the earth renters are gone they are going to find a lot of damage to the house. We’ve heard them pounding things on and off for the last three months. They’ve either been building something in the basement or they are destroying stuff. I certainly wouldn’t want to hear the insurance quote the owners are going to get once they see the house and need to fix it up again.

Oh and these people are really stupid. The home owners I mean – not the renters … they’re seriously considering renting again!

Hmmm .. lets see their first renter destroyed the carpets, broke a chandelier and a window or two and painted over oil painted walls with latex so that everything was peeling. Now these people owe about $5000 in rent and have built up legal expenses for the home owners, plus they’ve probably damaged the house … and yet they still think they might rent out to a third person?

They’re stupid! They’d be better off letting the house sit empty rather than renting again. They obviously can’t pick good renters and they still didn’t go back and call the employers that the bad renter neighbors listed on their application (they only called the supplied phone numbers which were obviously set up as the guy had just got out of jail so he couldn’t have been working for the company he’d said he was.).

I’m just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that the conniving renters didn’t come up with a way to delay their eviction and that the sheriff will be coming to kick them out sometime soon! I’m also hoping that if it does come down the sheriff showing up to lock them out that it goes down smoothly. these people are really bad news … I just have a feeling that it could come down to a stand off with the police or something. Yeah – that’s how bad they are!

Go Canada!

February 24, 2010 by Tricia

I can’t believe it, I’m sick with a damn cold again!

It started on Monday evening with a sore throat that progressed to a runny nose and a throat so sore I could barely swallow yesterday. I thought for a while that I might have strep throat, but my throat feels somewhat better today than it did yesterday.

You know when you have a sore throat and you realize that you’re actually not swallowing your own saliva? That’s how I was yesterday. I was avoiding swallowing.

I don’t feel all that well today – lots of fevers and like I said my nose is running a lot, but I’m a bit better than yesterday. Man I wish I could afford to check into one of the top Toronto hotels for some luxurious spa treatments right now. I’m sure some pampering would do me good. LOL

Instead of getting pampered I we’re going to be watching the big Olympic hockey game between Canada and Russia tonight. It’s just started. Man I hope Canada wins! If they do, they’ll go on to play USA for the gold on Sunday! Speaking of Hockey the Canadian women will be playing the USA for gold tomorrow evening. Again – Go Canada!

Ha! First Canadian goal in minute 3 of the game! YEAH!!!!! Go guys!

I know I have a lot of American readers but I have to root for my own country.

Are any of you watching these big hockey games or any of the other Olympic sports?

Father in law going in for a procedure

February 18, 2010 by Tricia

My father in law is having a gastroscopy tomorrow. Much better than a colonoscopy … but still he’s kind of nervous.

He’s apparently been having some trouble swallowing when he’s eating so his doctor wanted to make sure there’s nothing wrong with his esophagus or stomach.

We’re a little worried for him too. He’s 81 now I believe so any operation is a little more risky than if he were younger.

Like I said earlier I’m glad he’s not having a colonoscopy though .. the prep for that is kind of like doing quick trim burn and cleanse but worse! I should know – with my crohn’s I have to have that test at least once a year and sometimes twice or more. It’s awful.

I don’t get along all that well with my in-laws because of some things they did in the past, but still, I’ll be waiting to hear that everything went well. So will my husband.

Are you watching the Olympics?

February 18, 2010 by Tricia

So – are you watching the Olympics?

I’m kind of obligated to watch since the Olympics are being held in my own country this year. 😉

I have a feeling that we’ll be watching men’s hockey in just a little while as my husband is a HUGE hockey fan. Canada is playing Switzerland. Hopefully it’s another sweep for our guys. Bet those guys don’t need maxoderm LOL!

I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about the Olympics from foreign media. That makes me sad. I know there’s been problems with the speed skating ice and of course the weather doesn’t help any for skiing, snowboarding or any of the other outdoor sports. Hey … Vancouver is the warmest it’s ever been in 104 years! Who could have predicted that?

Ironically I think Canada is having a warm spell this winter. We’ve had an almost snowless winter here in Toronto. Right now there’s only a tiny bit of snow on the ground and it’s melting because it’s above zero outside. So I’m not all that surprised that Vancouver and it’s nearby mountains have barely any snow. I feel sorry for those in the US who’ve been slammed time after time with snow storms this winter and here we are up here in the Great White North enjoying a spring like setting.

Anyway … back to the Olympics … if you’ve been watching what’s your favorite sport or sports to watch?

How do you talk about an acne problem with a teenager?

January 20, 2010 by Tricia

Just before Christmas my husbands brother and his two sons came to our house (from Chicago) for a visit. They were the first of three rounds of house guests that we had over the holidays.

While they were here visiting I noticed that my nephew suffers from really bad acne … maybe it’s because he’s a hockey player and gets so sweaty. I think he plays just about every day and in fact most of their visits to Canada, especially in the summer, revolve around hockey and hockey camps.

I decided that I’d try to do a little research on acne treatments for him … try to find some of the best acne treatments however I’m unsure how to broach the subject with him.

I mean, I want to help him out. I know the teen years are hard enough without having terrible acne, but it must be bad when you have terrible acne!

Any ideas as to how I can bring up this subject with my teenage nephew – especially if I find something that might really help him out?
