How do you organize all your wires and accessories for your gadgets?

February 17, 2011 by Tricia

It seems like my husband and I are accumulating more and more gadgets. In the past year I bought a Kindle, and now we have an iPod and then there’s the Flip camera and our other digital cameras.

It’s great to have all of these things, but now I’m trying to figure out what to do with all of the wires and things like the Cell phone accessories and how to keep them organized or simply keep them from getting lost.

For example .. I mainly keep my Kindle in the bedroom beside the bed because I generally only use it to read in bed at night. I also keep the Wifi turned off most of the time to conserve the battery so I only need to charge it about once a month. So I keep the USB wire and charging accessories downstairs on the main floor in a drawer.

Of course that drawer is in my dining room in my Buffet and I really don’t want to keep all the wires and accessories for all of my new gadgets in my china buffet. LOL So … I think this weekend I’ll do a little shopping around for a nice wicker basket or some kind of nice box that I can keep in my living room – handy yet nice enough to look at – where I can store all of the extras for our new and old tech toys.

I’m sure many of you have multiple tech gadgets like cellphones, iPods, digital cameras, camcorders and so on … how do you keep all of the wires, chargers and accessories organized? Or are you always hunting throughout your house for the right wire to charge your gadget?

I have a hard time finding even the charger for my cell phone. The problem is that I need the charger to be with me all the time…I think i have to buy a bigger bag.

Yes i agree and you seem to get multiple chargers usb cables etc nowadays for 1 item. They are almost always black and all look the same, unfortunately we have them all over the house, in that messy kitchen drawer everyone seems to have, in the bedroom. I like your idea of buying a nice basket to store them in!

I think life had become too complicated when you have problems to organize the gadgets of all of your accessories! I have this problem, too 😉 And if don’t put it in my writing desk every time I used it, it’s lost. Every time. Why can’t they create an all-in-one gear with only one cable or anything else. THIS would be progress *lol*

if you can figure out a good system, I would love to piggy back it. I generally am shuffling different electronics between my briefcase, my gym bag, my car, my desk, and my night stand… Same issues.

My partner was all geared up to buy me a powermat last xmas only to later realise that my phone was not supported. Awesome idea if you’re one of the few that can actually use the product. Seriously though, they really need to revolutionize the charging and data connection technology…it’s just becoming too much.

I put all my tech gadgets and wires in a nice box, including my battery rechargers etc. There’s no way I would find all the bits and pieces if I didn’t do that. I just have too much stuff to contend with and I don’t even have an ipad yet.

I recently bought a kindle 3 and i needed a good quality cover for it so i purchased this great Sleeve Case that cared for my Kindle on the inside as on the outside too. Meanwhile the back pocket gave me space for accessories storage like charging cables or reading lights. This storage feature reduced the amount of clutter that i have to take with me, keeping everything in one handy package : ) thank you
