Yummy Abs

June 5, 2010 by Tricia

The other night my husband and I watched an episode of The Hour on CBC. I wanted to watch the interview with Jake Gyllenhaal …. man have you seen his abs? I don’t know that kind of abs workout he did, but it worked and it worked well!

I haven’t seen the movie Prince of Persia and I probably won’t – at least not in a movie theater as it’s not really my kind of movie. Maybe I’ll wait until it’s on the movie network so I can watch it at home.

Anyway .. Jake seems like a really nice down to earth guy. He did a great interview with George Stroumboulopoulos (say that 10 times fast).

There’s always great guests on that show. Since it’s taped in Toronto I put my husband and I’s name in for free tickets. Maybe we’ll get some tickets on a day when a star or musciain that we’re really interested in is being interviewed.

I saw the behind the scenes of Prince of Persia on E! and yep, Jake Gyllenhaal’s abs are tight!

Reminds me when I used to be on the lean with abs. Now they’re covered in a roll of fat that has seemingly decided to stay for good less of course I get me some lipo. lol

I got this from an article written by Simon Waterson, he is Jake Gyllenhaal’s trainer, he said these are the routine he did to get that abs:
    * Pre-workout Snack: Half a banana, some nuts and an espresso.

    * Morning Workout: An hour-and-a-half cardio workout while wearing a 20 lb. flak jacket to simulate the weight of armor. Interval training (10 minute uphill sprint, followed by abs exercises). Repeat sequence five times, then a 10 minute run, followed by stretching.

    * Breakfast: An egg-white omelet, a small protein shake and an isotonic drink to replenish salts lost during training.

    * Lunch: Baked potato with tuna and salad.

    * Evening Workout: An hour of resistance training using cables to simulate sword fights; pull-ups, press-ups, abs exercises using weights; finish with stretching.

    * Dinner: Soup and a protein shake

    * Snacks/supplements: Two liters of water, protein bars, dark chocolate, supplements rich in omega-3, 6 and 9. No foods containing refined sugar, occasional glass of wine allowed.

My wife thinks that Jake is the bomb too but even myself as an ultra red blooded man can see why the girls go nuts for Taylor Lautner from Twilight! Quite a physique but I think that many of us forget or chhose not to acknowledge exactly how much training, work and sacrfice that goes into achieving these perfect bodies.

In trying to copy these celebrity looks, everyone looks for the magic solution to fitness and weight loss but most of us actually know what the secret is – it’s just way too hard! 🙂 Better that we just admire these celebrities rather than work as hard!
