Peaceful sleep

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

This was me yesterday!

I didn’t sleep all night Tuesday night and when I finally did fall asleep in the morning my puppy started making a ton of noise in her crate. She was pulling her dog bed apart! So of course that got me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep. By noon or so I could barely see! My vision was blurred and I was also seeing double. I seriously thought that either something was wrong with my eyes or that I’d accidentally taken an extra pain pill and was o.d.’ing! I think I was just so overtired that my eyes were the first to fail!

I finally fell asleep that day at 2:30 in the afternoon but woke up at 4:30 when the puppy again got me up. Chris got home around 6 pm and by 8 pm I fell asleep on the couch and slept on and off all night (on the couch) right through until maybe 10 am Thursday.

I’m sure I probably looked like this cat as I slept soundly on the couch!

I miss my nursing job

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

I really miss working as a nurse. I know there’s no way I can go back to my job right now. I’ll have to get a lot better before I could even think of going back to those 12 hour days and shift work. However I do miss working with the patients.

I liked spending time with each one that was on my care. Now I worked in Emerg for almost half my nursing career and you can’t spend anywhere near as much time with patients there as you probably should, but I always tried to give my patients special attention.

Perhaps if I do go back to nursing I should work in a different department. One with a slower pace where I’d get to spend more time with each patient if I wanted to or if they needed the extra care. Perhaps I could even work in one of the therapy units … maybe doing cerebral palsy therapy or some other form of mobility rehabilitation.

As I said I’ve got to get me better before I can go back to work and try to make others better. I hope I start to feel better soon!

Peek-a-boo!

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

Doesn’t it look like this giraffe and the woman are playing peek-a-boo or hide and seek or something?

I know it’s not the funniest picture but it’s unusual.

What do you think is really going on? Perhaps she’s trying to steal the giraffe and she’s sneaking it out?

Too cold for outdoor activity

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

Well so much for my attempt at weight loss. I made quite a bit of progress in the first month that we had our puppy but since then I’ve either been feeling so sick or it’s been so cold outside (or both) that I haven’t been as active. So my progress has slowed.

What a vicious cycle. I’m sick and in pain so I’m not all that active which caused me to gain a bit of weight (my medications have as well (steroids)) and then when I want to get more active I can’t – again because of the pain. Arghhh!

I hope the weather starts to get better soon. It’s too easy to make the excuse that I’m not going to walk the dog because it’s -20 or even -30 Celsius (-22 F) outside (that’s darn cold!). Of course I’m not just making the excuse because I don’t want to go. Even the puppy doesn’t want to walk very far when it’s that cold out either!

Only a month or so ’till Spring and nicer weather. I can’t wait.

Bear and Bare Naked

February 20, 2008 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

Isn’t this a fantastic photo?

I didn’t take it and unfortunately I don’t know who did or how it was set up.

It certainly looks real doesn’t it? I suspect it’s a photo-shopped photo as I can’t think of any parent that would allow their child to be held in the huge paws of a live bear!
