Neighbors bestowing gifts of food!

December 7, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve told you before that I live in a great neighborhood and have great neighbors, right?

A few of our neighbors seem to have taken us under their wing so to speak and give us food whenever they have special family occasions or during the holidays. Remember I told you about our neighbor giving us a literal feast when they celebrated Greek Orthodox Easter?

Well … now that Christmas is getting closer some of our neighbors are starting to bestow gifts upon us. The little old lady two doors down traditionally gives us home made Baklava every year oh and sweet bread, but this year she brought us paella.

Maybe she’s bored or experimenting, but it was a nice treat! It was filled with seafood! Mmmm I love getting gifts of food! Now I just have to return her paella pan before I forget!

Do any of your neighbors drop off gifts during the holidays?

As I was saying in my last post we have no extra money so I can’t really afford to get any of our neighbors gifts, but maybe I can wipe up some treats in the kitchen.

I have a friend, John, whose wife i have only met a few times, but every year at Christmas she makes a 9X13 pan full of wonderful cheese and onion enchiladas and has John drop them off to us. It always makes several meals for us. It is really a blessing during the busy holiday times.

I think we need to move to your neighbourhood if they bestow gifts!

We had neighbors bring us goodies when we moved in, but they’ve all moved away. Now we have neighbors that don’t even like to wave when they see us!

I also live in a great neighborhood with great neighbors, too! I remembered the day we moved in, our neighbors gave us some baskets with muffins and fruits. Until now, they will still give us some fruits once in a while. I have a neighbor that every time he harvest some fruits in his farm, he would give us some. I love my generous and kind neighbors.

You sure have some generous neighbours. Shame I don’t have any!
You can’t beat a seafood paella though. Fantastic.

Our neighbors haven’t bestowed any gifts on us just yet, but one of our neighbors is taking care of our cats while we go to California to visit family. We currently live in Florida. We are getting a couple of gifts for her as a way of saying “Thanks.”
