The Riches – They’re back!

September 11, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve been in TV heaven these last two Wednesdays. One of my favorite showtime television series is back!

Have you ever watched The Riches? It’s about a family of Grifters (con-artists, thieves, gypsies) who take over the identity of a family that came to an untimely death after a car accident (caused by the new Riches).

With each episode the lie they are living gets more and more complicated – people get hurt, life gets more difficult, it gets harder to remember their lies and occasionally someone gets murdered.

It’s fun, entertaining and intriguing. If you haven’t seen The Riches yet try to catch it on Showtime (in Canada) on Wednesday evenings.

Tonight I’ll be watching one of my other new favorite shows – Flashpoint!

Win a trip to the World of Coke Museum in Atlanta with iCoke

September 10, 2008 by Tricia

If you are a Canadian resident and you enjoy drinking Coca Cola products I have a contest for you that might be right up your alley.

How would you like to Win a trip with iCoke.ca ? Ok, maybe you want to know what the prizes are first?

You could win a trip for four to Atlanta Georgia – where John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola in 1886. If you win your airfare to Atlanta will be paid for as well as 3 days, 4 nights hotel accommodation, plus 2-day Coke Museum passes for four and to top it all off you’ll also get $1000 US cash to spend as you please.

Secondary prizes that you could be eligible to win include Best Buy and Cineplex Odeon gift certificates.

The contest is in celebration of John Pemberton and his lasting invention! I honestly didn’t know that Coca-Cola was invented in 1886! I thought it was invented in the 1920’s. 122 years – isn’t that something?

Ok, so as I said you must be a Canadian resident to enter the contest. Plus, you’ll need to register at iCoke.ca in order to enter the contest.

The contest started August 31, 2008, and it ends at 11:59:00 a.m. EDT, October 31, 2008. During this time period you can enter up to five times a day if I read the rules correctly. So you can amass quite a few entries!

Of course you need to have 500 Coke coins per entry.

What are Coke coins? Well .. you earn them buy submitting the special alphanumeric pin code that you can find beneath the cap on 591 ml and 2L Coca Cola product bottles or on special promotional materials like iCoke contest cards. Usually each pin code is worth 500 coke coins, but for a limited time you can earn 1000 Coke coins on specially marked 591 ml Coca Cola product bottles. So when you’re out shopping watch for those specially marked 591 ml bottles as the pin numbers will be worth two contest entries if you choose to use them in that way!

I entered the contest last night and I plan on making more entries. Why not? I’ve never been to Atlanta and I think visiting the World of Coke Museum would be kind of cool.

Are you going to enter?

What’s that smell? Oh – wet dog!

September 10, 2008 by Tricia

Chris got called into work an hour early this morning when one of his co-workers called in sick and as a result he ended up getting off work an hour earlier than he normally would have.

So … when he got home, since it was so nice out today, he decided that he’d take our dog to a hiking trail area that he discovered last Saturday or Sunday.

They discovered a river or creek while they were out today! I guess Midnight had a great time splashing around in the water.

When they got home I thought Midnight was dry. She certainly looked dry … but then she came over to me and leaned on my leg and literally soaked my pant leg. Actually, she started rubbing herself on my leg in order to dry off! Darn smart dog!

So now not only does she have that lovely wet dog smell … but so do I! Don’t you just love that scent? (NOT!)

Moving out of State or across the country? Try U-Pack Moving

September 10, 2008 by Tricia

It seems like a lot of people in my neighborhood are packing up and moving away this year. At one point, back in June, the two houses closest to use were empty and a house a few doors down went up for sale and the owner moved out almost immediately after she sold her house.

The house beside us, Sofie’s – my elderly neighbor, just went up for sale. She had a mild stroke in February and her family spent the summer fixing up the house and they just put it up for sale a week ago. Now another neighbor is selling their home too.

All these neighbors moving away and new neighbors moving in got me thinking about the hassles of moving. It’s a big job and it can be quite expensive to move too, especially if you are moving to a new city or perhaps even a new State.

I just learned of a company that offers what I think is a unique moving system. It’s called U-Pack Moving.

The concept is simple. You contact them regarding a Truck Rental and then on your moving day they’ll deliver a trailer or one of their ReloCubes to your home, you pack the truck with your items and then the company will drive the truck to the location of your new home.

The cost of your move is based on the amount of space your items take up in the trailer or the ReloCubes rather than the weight of your items. You can save a lot of money this way.

Plus, I don’t know about you, but when you rent a moving truck to do a move yourself … well .. someone has to drive it. I know when we moved I wasn’t comfortable driving the truck so my husband had to do all of the driving. Since the U-Pack Moving company drives the truck for you that’s bound to ease some of the stress of a move especially if you’re moving out of State!

If you are planning a move in the near future you might want to go online and get a free quote for their Moving Services or you can call their 1-800 number to get a free quote.

I wonder if any of my neighbors that have moved away have used a moving service like this. It sounds like a great idea.

The dog’s under the table

Wordless Wednesday

I love this picture of Midnight. She was lying under our teak table in the backyard when i snapped the shot. I love how the legs of the teak table frame her face.

I really like our Teak table. It’s made with recovered teak wood – as in teak tree stumps and or old fallen branches. These pictures aren’t great, but you can get an idea of what the whole table looks like:
