The Toad Lily and it’s freckled petals

If you thought Lilies only bloomed in the spring or early summer I have one for you that blooms during Autumn. It’s called the Toad Lily:

These little beauties are just starting to form buds and only a few have begun to bloom. However in a week or so they will all be in bloom and what a pretty sight that will be! I love the Toad Lilies freckled petals. They are so tiny and delicate.

I must admit that the plant isn’t much to look at as it grows through the summer, but once it begins to bloom it becomes one of the stars of my Fall garden.

Do any of you grow any of the Toad Lily species?

Green Thumb Sunday tip – If you visit GTS sites regularly why don’t you subscribe to each blogs RSS feed so that you can visit the sites all at once in an RSS reader like Google reader? Then you can easily see who’s made a new Green Thumb Post and visit their site to leave a comment.

Great photo. Thanks for the tip. Going through the GTS list is really getting burdensome, especially when so few of the blogs have GTS posts, and some are just advertising sites. Some are even dangerous to enter as they put spyware on your computer. It never occured to me to use the RSS feed.
