Bad migraine knocking me out of commission

August 7, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve had a really bad migraine the last few days. I don’t know what caused it, but it’s stopping me from getting much of anything done! It’s better today than it was yesterday!

Yesterday I spent the day lying on the couch dreading each time the dog would go to the door asking to go outside. Of course, every time I did go out with the dog she wanted to stand in the bright sunlight and if you’ve ever had a migraine or a very bad headache you know that bright light just makes your head pound even more.

I think the headache started sometime on Monday hence the lack of new posts! I just hate being knocked out of commission by my own body! Hopefully the migraine is going to finally go away, it seems like it is, but you can never tell for sure until it’s suddenly gone.

My sympathies! I get them too. All I can do is lie down in a dark room until the pounding stops. Hope you feel better soon!

Migraines are the worst. I hate the ones that keep you awake they hurt so bad.

    Tricia,

I suffered from migraines for years until I started using Imitrex. I used to loose 3 days of productivity out of every two weeks. The pain is bad enough, but being unable to accomplish anything feels just as bad.

Go to your doctor and get a prescription for Imitrex. You can get it in pill form, and you’ll be feeling better in 30 minutes after taking a pill. I also believe there is a cumulative effect because I hardly ever have them anymore. Of course that could be because I’m older now.

There is no need for anyone to suffer with migraines anymore. I’m so greatful to the person that invented it because it really changed my life.

My daughter often gets what she describes as migraine headaches. I used to get them, but seem to have licked them and haven’t been bothered by them lately. I think being stressed can cause them to come on. Sometimes you eat the wrong thing and it triggers one.

I hope you get well soon, Tricia. My wife suffers from migraines a bit, and they’re definitely not fun.

Headaches are really awful. I have found that the only way for me to get rid of mine is a massage and a couple of essential oils used on neck and head( I trade with a friend for massage.) or if that isn’t an option then two Excedrin, an ice pack placed at the base of my head while lying down until I fall asleep. Sometimes I need both options.
Hopefully you migraine will go away soon!

I am so sorry! I used to have the same disabling migraines but they are finally under control. A great headache doctor, some lifestyle changes and a short course of daily meds..worked wonders.

I you haven’t tried a triptan yet (Imitrex, Relpax, Frova or the new one, Treximet), these are wonder drugs! Pain gone within 1/2 hour and I am off and running. Good luck…
