Natural Bath and Beauty products at the Best Bath Store

July 9, 2008 by Tricia

rose soap I love bath and beauty products, but often I have a problem using them as I’m allergic to the chemicals and artificial scents used in these products and other products for the home such as scented candles and air fresheners and even perfumes and colognes. So I’m always on the look out for companies that use natural ingredients in their products.

If you also appreciate using products that are made with natural ingredients then you’ll love the items at the Best Bath Store. As far as I can tell all of their bath and beauty products are made from natural ingredients like essential oils, extracts and dried natural ingredients.

I love their selection of natural soap. The one that I used in the photo above is their Rose Geranium body bar. It’s textured with rose petals and made with natural essential oils. Everyone that reads this blogs knows how much I like my roses so the idea of having a rose scented bath sounds delicious to me. They have several other natural bath soaps ranging from dead sea salts to cacao butter, orange, lavender and many more. There are even special acne facial bars.

lavender_lotion200.jpg Along with their range of natural soaps you’ll find bath accessories, bath bombs, bath salts, dead sea products, lotions, skin and hair care products, products specifically for men as well as gift baskets and other gift ideas.

One other thing that I like about the Best Bath Store is that they offer free product samples. you can visit their sample product page and request free items to try.

I liked the idea of being able to try their products before I made a purchase that I contacted them last week to request free samples. Unfortunately I haven’t heard back from the company yet (perhaps the holiday caused a slow down) so I’m not sure if they’ve sent me my free samples yet or not. Also I’m in Canada so it might take a bit longer than if I were in the US. If I do get my samples I’ll update this post and tell you what I got and what I thought of their bath and beauty products.

The Best Bath Store also has a point system. When you make a purchase you get points, rack up enough points and you can cash them in for a store credit. Now that’s a bonus for regular customers. Oh and they offer free USPS priority shipping on orders over $25!

If you enjoy quality bath products made with organic ingredients – items which are not tested on animals I should also say – then check out the Best Bath Store.

I feel like crap, absolute crap

July 8, 2008 by Tricia

I’m in so much pain tonight. Well … really for the last week or so. Remember last week I gushed about eating fresh corn on the cob and how rare it was for me to eat it because it usually caused my Crohn’s to flare up? Yeah, well … I bought six cobs so that means we ate corn three times last week. That was at least two times too many for me.

I knew the corn would do me in, but sometimes you just gotta do it. I’ve certainly been paying for eating it the last few days.

Today I’ve had a lot of fevers. Not great when it’s super hot outside, but you know I had such a high fever when I took the dog outside for a pee at about 4 pm that the slight breeze that was hitting me made me shiver.

I shouldn’t have been shivering outside today, it was damn hot! When I was shivering outside with a fever it was 29 Celsius (84 F) and with the humidity it supposedly felt like 38 Celsius (100.4 F). Ridiculous eh?

I feel bad since it’s Chris’ birthday today. I’m sitting here like a lump when we should be celebrating.

Well, hopefully I feel better tomorrow. Chris won tickets two weeks ago for subscribing to the Danforth Music Hall’s newsletter. They give away free tickets each month to their newsletter subscribers – well to one lucky subscriber each month, I mean. So tomorrow night we’re going to see Amos Lee. He’s supposed to be a great musician however I’m not certain that I’ve ever heard any of his songs. It’s a good venue though and it will be a great thing to go out and do for Chris’ birthday.

So wish me luck that I feel better tomorrow!

I grow several different types of roses in my garden and while I consider several of them favorites I think that this rose, Breath of Life, is perhaps my most favorite rose.

I’m not sure if it’s the pale peach to light orange blooms or it’s delicate perfection that draws me to this rose. I just think it’s beautiful. Almost every bloom I’ve ever seen this plant produce has been lovely.

I placed this tall rose at the entrance to my backyard mainly because of it’s name. Breath of Life sounded like a wonderful announcement or proclamation of what was in store for those who visit my garden. Step inside for a breath of life, instant zen … and don’t forget to look at the rose that welcomed you in as you enter the garden.

Do you have a favorite plant in your garden? If you do why is it your favorite?

Oh and if you like this rose you’ll love the rose I have on my gardening blog! It’s possible that Climbing Westerland could become another top favorite … possible? Take a look at this rose and tell me it isn’t gorgeous!

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

Anyone else having trouble getting food for your dog?

July 5, 2008 by Tricia

The last few months we’ve been having a terrible time getting a steady supply of the two brands of dry dog food that we feed our Labrador Retriever puppy.

The first few months were ok, but by March one of the brands that we were feeding our dog with a sensitive tummy became unavailable for a while. It was Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy Chicken and Rice dog food. I guess the company was having trouble getting one of the ingredients for the dog food and it messed up their whole supply until June.

Luckily we were also feeding her another dog food – Nutro Natures Choice Large Breed puppy Lamb and brown rice dog food. However now whenever we go into get pet supplies we have trouble finding this particular brand.

Chris went to the pet store early this morning specifically to look for the two brands of dry dog food that we feed Midnight and they were out of the Nutro again! A Nutro rep happened to be in the store and she told him that they are having trouble getting a supply of lamb for the food. I guess they get their lamb from New Zealand and there’s been a drought there that’s affect the livestock.

Naturally she suggested that we switch to one of their other products, but as I said earlier our dog has a very sensitive stomach so I really don’t want to start switching her food every time I need to buy her a new bag of food. I said it that way because I suspect that if we switch to one of their other products or even another brand that we’ll run into supply problems again. That seems to be our luck lately.

Are any of you having trouble getting certain brands of food for your dog? Or is it just us having terrible luck picking a company that can keep our dog supplied in healthy food?
