She loves sticks, water and food!

Midnight in her new favorite place – The Beach!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen her any happier than when she’s in the water with a stick to fetch and other dogs to play with, she just loves it.

Well ok … when she’s eating or offered a treat she’s just as happy. It’s a very close tie, too close to call.

Oh and the last time we were at the beach (last weekend) there were a number of wind and Kite surfers there. Man those guys are built! They don’t need any kind of bodybuilding supplements with the workout they get on the lake. We had a hard time keeping Midnight away from the kites that came down close to shore!

Midnight is such a beautiful dog! Now I wish my own pet dog Max would go near water – she’s so terrified to do so *sigh* Have a great Thursday!

What a beautiful name – Midnight! I read somewhere dogs naturally love the water, but if a dog has had a traumatic experience involving water or associates water with something bad that had happened to them, then they avoid the water altogether. Must be what happened to your dog, ZJ!

Labs belong in the water, there is no doubt. Did I ever tell you when Mookie, our chocolate lab/German Shepherd, was alive how she loved to jump into the nearby pond I used to take her to for walks and chase the Canada Geese?

Unbeknownst to her, the Geese were incredibly dangerous and with one hard flap of their wings could have seriously hurt her.

Fortunately for Mookie, the Geese decided that retreat was the better part of valor and usually flew off when Mookie came calling.

Then Mookie would return to me, shake the stinking Goose pond water all over me, and then we would both need baths.

Ah, what great times you’re going to have with Midnight, especially when you take her to Lake Ontario. Dogs love the Great Lakes, our first dog, Buffy, loved Lake Michigan. She followed my brothers and I into the cold lake when she was only 3 months old and afterwards looked like a drowned sewer rat after she got out and rolled in the sand. When we got in the car to head back to Detroit, Buffy cried the whole way back. Every vacation we took with her when we went up north to Lake Michigan, she was excited and fine. Every return trip she would not stop crying. She LOVED the smell of the fresh air and being by the water. There is no doubt.

    I hope you’re feeling better!

    Cheers!

Hell, I’m happiest when I get to play fetch in water with a stick. Beats working.

Dogs in water, what could be more natural? Your dog is beautiful and what a joy to share with him? When you can’t get to the beach do you have a pool for Midnight to play in?
