Grape Hyacinths and hosta – Oh My!

Muscari and Hosta 2

Don’t these grape hyacinths (muscari) look just lovely in front of the yellow green leaves of Hosta Sum and Substance? It’s a lovely color combination isn’t it?

This photo was actually taken last summer. I’ve been too busy this week to get the photos of the garden that I did take this past week transfered from my camera to the computer. If anything the muscari looks even nicer this year. I will get to those photos shortly!

I picked this picture for this post because I thought it might look great with the new theme for Tricia’s Musings too.

My garden is doing wonderfully this year. There’s only one rose that’s struggling and all the rest of the roses and other plants seem to be doing well. I think we’ll really enjoy our backyard this year.

Oh speaking of enjoying the backyard and garden, our puppies having fun with it too. Yesterday we watered the garden and of course Midnight was outside with us on her leash. She loves the garden hose. She spent all her time trying to get her head and mouth under the water. I kept telling her that she’s going to love that cool hose water come summer.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

I love those flowers. It is a shame that they do not do well in Houston.

They look really beautiful. Almost like grapes!

I like how “Trisha’s Musings” is in the new green font. It looks more professional. Good job with that!

    Oh, that’s gorgeous!

Funny thing is I had never paid attention to flowers and plants before. But since I live in Canada, I find spring (well, snow melting season) extra-beautiful. After months of a white landscape, colors are back… and it’s so nice!

(I’m browsing expats blogs, just founds yours ;-))

Beautiful combination Tricia. The purple of the grape hyacinths is fantastic against the offset of the lime.

I actually spotted this photo on Flickr so keep them up, would be great to view this years muscari if you get a chance to take more pictures.

Funny thing…those grape hyacinths look just like the Muscari I planted last fall. They are up and perhaps just a little bluer, but they sure look the same.

Stunning photo there, the grape shaped buds really pop against the green leaves in the background. And Midnight sure sounds like a great little helper out there in the garden. Can’ wait to see more photos.
