Such a nice tidy garden this year

My garden is just lovely this year. I think it’s doing well because it had so much so cover this past winter and because I actually got out there and tidied it up and did quite a bit of garden maintenance work this spring. I know last spring I was feeling really ill and I just couldn’t get myself motivated to get outside and do a lot of garden work all at once.See how it’s paying off?

This is just a small portion of my garden. These daylilies and astilbe are in what I call the oval which separates the patio area near the house from the back lawn.

This is what my backyard looked like on May 1st.

It isn’t spectacular but it’s neat and tidy and shows lots of promise. The plants have grown in the past week too, plus new ones have come up so the raised garden beds look even fuller now. Click on the photo to see a large image in my flickr account if you want to see more details.

It does look fabulous! As you say very tidy and I just can imagine how beautiful it’s going to be later on 🙂

Hey, is that a grill I’m spotting there, covered up? Mmmm, a BBQ out there would be really nice…. *giggles*

Oh, I miss that part, but I can’t have it all…

What a lovely garden – yea: you really have green fingers!

Good to see spring is in the air at your place too. We’ve had the loveliest sunny weather the last week in Norway too. The nature has exploded – out of hibernation – the trees are already green and that is two weeks before normal.

    Happy Mother’s Day 🙂

Your backyard looks so different without the snow. I’ve seen lots of your pictures with your yard covered up in that white stuff. Looks like you may be seeing more pretty days ahead!!!

Your garden is looking very lively. We had a tough winter here in Chicago, but most of my perennials have come thru well with the snow cover being so thick (as you mentioned).
It’s my lawn that suffered most with the snow pack, but judging by your tiny back yard, lawn isn’t your biggest green space.
    Have you tried day lillies?

I think it’s lovely. It’s just the size I would like to have. My property is becoming a burden, so I’m looking forward to having a smaller garden again one day. Happy GTS,
    Aiyana

I stopped by after your visit to say everyone has room for a pond but looking at your photos I can see I need to revise that to everyone but you.

I like the way you ‘knocked out’ the “Oval”. It really helps to break up that long narrow look. And don’t give winter any credit for how good things look. Take the credit you deserve.

It’s looking good! It really does make a difference to get out there early doesn’t it. I hope I can get my kids out in the yard to help more. I would like to plant more perrinials this year. Is it too late? I live in southeast utah.
