Can old computer software be a collectors item?

June 24, 2007 by Tricia

I was in the basement yesterday sorting through the many items that are stored down there and I discovered that I had a stash of old software! There’s some really old software there, I wonder if any of the old items could even be considered collectors items? Now wouldn’t that be funny?

I think I might make a list of all the old software and perhaps post it as kind of a pc software inventory list just to show you how old some of this stuff really is!

I think some of it dates back to when we got our first computer in 1991. Do you remember floppy disks? Yeah, well I’ve got old Windows 3.1 floppy disks! Tell me that’s not a collectors item.

Interchangable memory

June 24, 2007 by Tricia

One of my friends has a Dell computer and she was telling me that she wanted to increase her computers memory but she was having a hard time getting Dell Memory for her computer.

I still find it funny sometimes when people assume that they must stick with a brand name, or the exact brand name of their product, when getting accessories or in this case improving their computers capacity.

I explained to her that as long as she got the same type of memory it didn’t matter if it was made by Dell. Of course you also have to get the same size, so if she had one 256K memory then she’d have to get another of the same size other wise she might run into trouble.

I just thought I’d post about this in case others were under the same assumption that you always have to buy the product by the same manufacturer.

This is a photo of Cloud Gate. It’s a sculpture in Downtown Chicago. Locals call it “The Bean”. It’s amazing! When we were in Chicago I spent more time walking around the bean, and under it, than I did any other sight that I went to in all of Chicago.

Isn’t that amazing?

Here’s a close up view. The large structure that you can see reflected in the background is Millennium Park. I posted a photo of the outdoor theater on my gardening website. You should visit to take a better look at it because it’s an amazing design too.

Cool.

I just loved Chicago. I was only there for three days, but I found that it was very much like Toronto. I felt very much at home there.

Maybe Chris and I will end up going to Chicago again this summer.

BTW when these photo was posted on another site someone wondered if it was photoshopped. Nope. This is the way The Bean looks. It’s just that cool. If you ever go to Chicago you must see Cloud Gate.

My neighbors need singing lessons

June 22, 2007 by Tricia

Well it seems the Karaoke neighbors next door were at it again! This time Chris was home to hear all the noise. It was even irritating him so you know it was bad!

Perhaps school is finally out for their young teen aged son and they decided to have a Thursday night party? They sure has a lot of people over and they got their awful Karaoke machine going too.

I must admit that they weren’t quite as loud as they were two weeks ago, but they were still extremely loud and what’s worse is that they still can’t sing!

Do you think it would be really bad of me to contact some professional voice trainers and have them call my neighbors house?

I mean, if they are going to keep on singing and driving me mad they might as well sound good doing it!

It’s 1 a.m and they are still up. The music has stopped but I can hear them jumping around in their house. I swear they are the noisiest neighbors I’ve ever had!
