The birds are hungry!

June 25, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve mentioned before that I haven’t been getting out into my garden as much as I should or as much as I used to. In fact, we only just refilled the bird feeders on Saturday.

You should see the birds though! They must put out a neighborhood call that “diner” had arrived because our yard is just full of small little birds like house wrens, small starlings, finches and yesterday I saw a bird that I consider pretty rare in almost downtown Toronto. I saw a cardinal!

As a result of all the feasting going on the bird feeders – two big ones – are almost empty. Actually I think my husband filled them on Saturday and last night.

I think we’ve also got a few house sparrows building a nest under one of our upstairs window air conditioners. I can see them flying around the window every few minutes and they are chirping away like crazy.

If they are successful in building a nest and if we can’t get it out our July house guests will not like sleeping in that spare bedroom! Birds around here start chirping at about 3:30 a.m.! They don’t stop until around 10 p.m.. I think they need more sleep, don’t you?

It could be a noisy summer!

Topicscape 3D helps you get organized

June 25, 2007 by Tricia

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by all the information that you’ve stored on your computer and have desperately wanted to find a way to get organized so that you can find the files you need within minutes you might be interested in a unique software program called TopicScape Information Organizer in 3D!

That’s right. It’s a 3D information organizer. You can get an idea of what your organized information might look like by having a look at this chefs recipe information organizer software. If you were to organize your own recipes that you’ve stored on your computer according to ingredients it might look something like the example that I linked to above.

It’s simply a new way to look at information. If you are a visual person you’ll love this software.

To use the program simply drag and drop files and information on to topic areas. Connecting the various topics in your own way will individualize your 3D Topicscape organizer in a way that suits your way of thinking.

If this sounds interesting to you, you can visit the site via any of the links above or read this in depth article 3d mindmapping software article to get even more information about this unique software program.

There’s a TopicScape lite and a Topicscape pro addition for download on the site. You can also down load TopicScape skins that will help you individualize the look and feel of your TopicScape installation.

Give it a try, perhaps this will be the perfect organization system for you.

Illness and Anger

June 24, 2007 by Tricia

Can you believe this? My Crohn’s has me down for the count yet again. I was doing ok for a good portion of last week but then Friday came along and I couldn’t get off the couch I felt so ill.

Think that was bad enough … Saturday was even worse. I almost never take my heavy duty short acting pain killers during the day. I stick to the two long acting pain meds that I’m one and leave the shorter acting ones for night time when the pain is at it’s worst and only if I really need to take them.

Well yesterday I ended up taking two percocet. As you can tell I didn’t feel well enough to do any posting at all until around midnight last night.

I’m feeling a bit better today and I’m itching to get outside and plant some plants in my garden that I bought last weekend but I have a feeling if I go out there and get working I’ll end up making myself sicker and end up having a really bad week.

I’m getting angry at this stupid disease. It’s holding me back from so much in life.

Never lose important messages again – Backup your E-mail

June 24, 2007 by Tricia

Have you ever turned on your computer and clicked on your email program only to have it crash because a virus was attached to one of the emails that you were collecting? Or perhaps for some reason your email program has crashed for no apparent reason?

It’s not fun is it? Especially if you end up losing some of your stored email or if your stored email gets corrupted!

It’s happened to me a few times and I happen to store a lot of important emails such as internet jobs I’ve completed and payments I’ve received in folders in my email program.

If you’ve had experiences like this you might be interested in a software program that will allow you to backup e-mail. Now you’ll never lose your stored email again!

What I really like about this program is that you can schedule e-mail backups. It would probably be a wise idea to schedule back ups once a week or even daily if you get a lot of important e-mail that you need to keep on hand.

Backup E-mail supports popular email applications such as Outlook Express and Microsoft outlook and you can even use the program to back up your internet explorer favorites too. Use the program to back up your address book, mail and news accounts, messages, blocked lists and store them in a single file that is compressed and can be password protected for security.

Check out the Backup E-Mail program at http://www.backup-email.com/ where you can download a trial version or purchase the full version for just $24.95.

The Baronne is blooming

cluster Barone Prevost

Baronne Prevost is an antique rose with an amazingly strong fragrance. I seem to be on an antique rose kick today because I also posted another antique rose photo on my gardening blog today.

This rose is very hardy. It had very little die back over the winter and I didn’t give it any kind of winter protection this year either! It’s grown quite tall. It’s approximately 7 feet tall. The only complaints that I might have about it is that it has weak stems and as a result is a somewhat floppy rose. It’s also very prickly! It has both thorns and tiny fine prickles. Both of which makes working with the rose kind of dangerous to your skin!

I have Baronne Prevost growing on one side of my garden opposite another antique rose called Compte De Chambord. Both are extremely fragrant and tend to bloom at the same time so standing in the middle of the garden between these two roses when they are blooming is pure heaven.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.
