Sudden desire to get a puppy

October 24, 2007 by Tricia

When I woke up yesterday morning I got this strange idea in my head that I just can’t shake.

I want a puppy.

It’s a crazy idea. But it’s like the lights turned on in my head and I can’t shut it off. I say it’s crazy because my husband and I are both allergic to furry animals.

Of course what I really want is a baby, but that’s not happening and due to my illness it might not happen at all. So what’s wrong with a puppy?

I think we can handle the allergy part of the equation. We’re both allergic to dust mites and a few other things so we take allergy medication every day anyway. That should cover our allergy to a dog.

Obviously I won’t just go out and get a puppy to test my theory. I haven’t even told Chris yet that I have this crazy idea turning around and around in my head. When I do though, maybe we’ll spend some time visiting several of our friends that have furry pets to see how we do on those visits. If we’re ok we’ll probably be ok as long as we keep taking our allergy medications right?

Sigh … yeah it’s a crazy idea.

Does TV suck or is it just me?

October 24, 2007 by Tricia

Is it just me or are some of the TV shows that were big hits last year just not as good this year?

I’m still enjoying shows like Ugly Betty, but then there’s shows like My name is Earl that has a whole different story line this year that I just don’t like. I mean, Earl isn’t magic when he’s in jail. He’s just not. Neither is House with his group of doctors that he’s methodically picking off. Heck, I didn’t even watch House last night. I taped it, but I just didn’t feel like watching it.

There’s lots of other shows that just aren’t doing it for me either.

How do you feel about shows that were your favorites last year? Are you still into them or have the shows changed too much?

Cool photo-Morpher software

October 23, 2007 by Tricia

Wow! I was given the opportunity to try a new photo morphing software earlier today and I must say I really enjoyed playing around with this software!

I went to the Zoombli website and downloaded a copy of their Morpheus Photo-Morpher application. I know a few other bloggers who have started using this software to morph photos from one thing into another and I thought it was about time I try it out myself.

The software was very easy to install. Once installed the program opened up right away. There were instructions on how to use the software properly in the right side of the Photo-Morpher application so it was easy to follow the directions to create my own photo morph.

bud.jpg As you are editing your photo morph you be able to view a time line window so that you can see every frame, just like when you are editing a movie or video file.

As you know I love taking photographs of the flowers in my garden. So I went searching through my photos and found a beautiful photo a perfect Graham Thomas English rose bud. I then found a lovely photo of this rose fully open. I thought it would be neat to see how the program morphed the two photos from bud to fully open flower.

rose.jpg Hey I might use this on my gardening blog! It would be very useful to show people the different stages a plant goes through as it grows.

I’m sure you could come up with hundreds of things to morph – perhaps a baby photo of your child to how they look right now?

The program renders the morphs in a variety of formats including flash. I chose to render my morph into an avi so that I could upload it to YouTube.

This is my bud to full blooming Graham Thomas English rose:

The full standard version of this software only costs $29.95 and there’s also a Pro version that will allow you to to have even more features than you already do with the Standard version. Check out the software for yourself. I’m sure you could think of all kinds of cool things to morph. Hey a morphed photo might even make an interesting present for someone you love.

Sedum is lovely in the Fall

Sedum - Fall Colour

Our Sedum plants have been flowering for about a month now. I took this photo shortly after they’d started blooming. Aren’t their tiny delicate little flowers pretty?

I even enjoy this plant when the flowers begin to die and dry up. The flowers and their stalks dry and turn a brownish color. You’d think that would be ugly, but it’s quite ornamental. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that some people cut these dried flowers and stalks and put them in Winter dried flower displays in their home. That’s how nice they look even when they are dead.

It’s my wedding anniversary tomorrow

October 21, 2007 by Tricia

You know what? I just remembered that it’s my wedding anniversary tomorrow. Yes I knew it was coming up, but I didn’t realize how close we were to the 22nd until just now. Tomorrow … gee I wonder what we should do to celebrate?

It’s our 13th anniversary. Hmmm with a number like that maybe we should just ignore it. Nah, it should be a lucky thirteen in this case. We’re happy.

Thinking back I believe I can remember every detail of our wedding day, but for the life of me I can’t remember what kind of bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts gifts we gave out. Strange. It was probably jewelery related since Chris and I had been jewelers when we met, but weren’t any longer by the time we got married.

Do you remember all the details of your wedding day or did it just go by in a blur?
