September 5, 2007 by Tricia

Who’s interested in entering a contest where you could win a $5000 shopping spree? I know I am!

Shop.com has a new version of their Cart Me Away contest. There’s even more luxurious prizes now than ever before.

If you enjoy shopping you’ll love this new contest which is said to be a fusion of Sex in the City and The Price is Right. Each week those who’ve registered for the contest will get to participate in a fantasy shopping experience.

There’ll be four different fantasy shopping story-lines, one for each week of the contest which began on September 2nd and ends on September 29th. Pick the right combination of products to match the fantasy shopping scenario and you’ll qualify to win the weekly $1000 prize and gain an entry for the $5,000 shopping spree grand prize.

You’ll get three chances daily to pick the perfect match of products to fit the shopping fantasy. New challenges are presented each day.

Along with the chance to win the $1000 weekly prize and or the $5000 grand prize, instant shop.com cash back offers will be given away each day.

Doesn’t this sound like a fun contest? There’s certainly a lot of chances to qualify for the great prizes too. What are you waiting for? Go enter the contest!

The Sun Sets over Toronto

Wordless Wednesday

Is that not a postcard worthy photo? I took that picture while on the boat cruise on Saturday night. The evening was lovely and the sun setting over Toronto was absolutely gorgeous.

I think next to my love of gardening and roses, gazing at beautiful sunsets is one of my most favorite things.

It was kind of like Deja Vu when I was on the boats deck.

I’d been inside the boat in the dinning room and I noticed that the sun was going to set soon so Chris and I went up on the deck to take some photos and just look at the scenery.

I suddenly realized while on the boat that all the beautiful postcard photos of our cityscape must have been taken while on a boat on the lake. It makes sense of course, but I’d never thought of it before. It was so beautiful.

Another storm?

September 5, 2007 by Tricia

It always seems that whenever I’m on a roll posting away on my computer late at night we have a thunder storm. The house a few minutes ago since the storm and thunder was so close.

Actually we need rain. We’ve barely had any rain here in Toronto over the last month. Perhaps I should stay up late posting like crazy more often so we’ll get some rain.

I’m just hoping, as I usually do, that the power doesn’t go out. I hate when the power goes out during a storm. Thunder storms freak me out. I wonder if they sell decent looking battery powered home lighting that won’t go out during a storm? Now that would be a great invention wouldn’t it? A nice lamp that has back up batteries in it like some alarm clocks do so that when the power goes out the clock, or in this case light, will keep on working.

Yes I’m rambling. Time to go to bed I think. At least if I’m bed it won’t matter if the power goes out.

Uploading photos is taking forever!

September 5, 2007 by Tricia

I took so many photos over the weekend! I didn’t check my folders when I uploaded the photos from camera to computer but I think there must be 500 new photos!

I’ve spent the evening as I’ve worked on the computer doing other things – like catching up on blog posts, uploading the best of the photos to my flickr account. I generally just use a link to my photo on flickr when I add photos to my posts. It’s easier and doesn’t take up space on my hosting account.

The trouble is it’s slow going. My photos are large so they take a long time to upload! I think I’ve been uploading photos since at least 10 p.m. and it’s now after 5 a.m. That’s a lot of big photos!

Do you upload your photos to a free hosting account so that you can share them or use them in your blog posts?

Crazy appliance warnings

September 5, 2007 by Tricia

Have you ever looked at the packaging on some products? Open up a box and read the beginning of the instructions booklet and take a look at all the silly instructions. You know, say you just bought an iron. The instruction booklet says at the front not to use it while in the bathtub. I believe the same instructions can be found for curling irons and hair dryers and I wouldn’t be surprised if toasters had a similar warning.

You’ve got to figure that the product liability attorney for some of these companies must be wracking his or her brain thinking of all the really dumb ways that someone might use a product or state that they used a product in such and such a way just to claim an injury in order to sue the company.

That’s what these crazy warnings are all about right? Someones done something really stupid with an appliance and then sue the company for their stupidity. That’s why they have to write out those warnings.

What are some of the funnier warnings you’ve seen for appliances or other products?
