Lodging Hunt is another great site to find deals on hotel rooms

I hate to say it, but summers almost over. Hopefully many of you managed to get away for long weekend or at least short vacations throughout the summer.

I find that people always talk about dream vacations and they often involve leaving the country traveling to Europe or some exotic land. I’ve done it myself, but you know what? Some of the best vacations I’ve had have been in my own Country and often even not all that far from home.

Almost everyone takes a vacation every now and then – even me, so I figured that you might be interested in perhaps taking a look at, and maybe even bookmarking the Lodging Hunt website.

Why? Well the Lodging Hunt website is a great place to search for hotel and motel reservations. Lodging Hunt not only has listings for big hotel chains, but they also list smaller chains and individual independent hotels that you won’t find listed on the big reservation sites. I know from my own experiences that some of the smaller hotels can be quite nice and you might find that they offer a more personal touch that will end up topping off your vacation experience.

You’ll find listings for all of the US states at Lodging Hunt. Just go to the main page and select the state that you’d like to search for lodgings in and then narrow your search down to a particular city or area of the state. It’s that easy.

For example if you were perhaps going to take a trip to Las Vegas you might visit the Nevada Lodging page to find some great hotel deals. Then, perhaps if part of your holiday plans include a trip to the Grand Canyon you might visit the Arizona Lodging listings to find a hotel near the Grand Canyon.

I was pleased to see that there are also hotel lodging listings for all of the Canadian provinces and territories, and there are also listings for what I believe are all of the countries in Europe.

The owner of Lodging Hunt states that he works hard to search for the best rates at big hotel chains like Best Western so you are bound to find some very good accommodation deals.

Another thing that I like about the Lodging Hunt website is the fact that if you were to select a state page, say the Illinois Lodging page for example, you can select the city that you’re searching for lodgings in and your search results will be listed from lowest price lodging to highest priced lodgings. From there you can click on hotels that interest you.

Many of the hotel listings contain photos of the rooms, and you’ll also find information such as check in and check out times, a listing of the hotels amenities and even a short discussion of local attractions near the hotel.

On the main page and on each hotel page you can type in the city that you wish to find lodgings in and the dates that you’ll want to make reservations for in order to narrow the results to hotels that have openings during the time period you’re interested in. Once you find lodgings that suit your needs you can book it right then and there.

Your summer vacation may be over, but do bookmark this site and visit it the next time you are planning a vacation or traveling. I’m sure you’ll find a good deal.

If you want something leave a message we’ll get back to you!

August 17, 2007 by Tricia

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Since Wednesday our phone keeps ringing and ringing and ringing!

Chris is off work this week and his coworker keeps calling. This guy must have called from work or from his cell phone at least 20 times. Did he leave a message each time? No. He finally left a message earlier today asking Chris to call him back regarding the work schedule for next week.

This guy is always calling in sick or trying to make deals with Chris to trade shifts. Actually he even managed to talk my husband into changing his permanent schedule! My husband, when he started in the OR attendant job last December was supposed to work Tuesday to Friday. Now ever since this guy got hired they’ve alternated the schedule so sometimes Chris has a Monday off and on alternate weeks he’s got a Tuesday off.

This guy has even called our home at 5 in the morning to tell Chris he’s sick and that he’ll have to do his shift never bothering to call in sick at work. Chris even has more seniority. It’s just nuts what Chris has let this guy get away. Yes it’s Chris’ fault. There’s no doubt about that.

So now we’ve got this guy ruining Chris’ holiday by calling all the time. If he wants something why doesn’t he just leave a proper message with his request?

Chris and I are purposely not answering his calls ’cause we figure that it’s either some schedule switch or that he might even have wanted to Chris to work on one of his holiday days. No, the guy can think we aren’t home and haven’t been home all week.

This is the problem with being too nice.

We often go out of our way to do something nice for people. Sometimes putting ourselves out while trying to make someone happy and you know what? People rarely appreciate it. It’s like a ticket for taking advantage of us in the future when ever they want something else.

It’s our own fault, but I’d rather be kind to others than nasty.

Now I’ve got the flu?

August 17, 2007 by Tricia

I swear I’m getting sicker and sicker. Now I think I might have the flu or a similar bug.

When I got up yesterday I noticed that the right side of my neck hurt. I thought that maybe I’d just slept in a funny position.

Usually if something like that happens the sore area feels better once you get up and start moving around. Unfortunately the painful area grew and grew. Soon my right shoulder was hurting and I had pain going down my back. After an hour or two the crampy sore muscle pain even went into my right leg and around my right rib cage.

So effectively my whole right side was hurting from the top of my neck to just below my knee.

I was puzzled. I even asked my husband who’s home on holiday if I was sleeping in a weird position or thrashing around. Did I fall out of bed?

On top of all this muscle pain I had a fever. Fevers are pretty common for me but I can usually control them with Tylenol. Yesterday my fever only went down for an hour even though I had 3 extra strength Tylenol spaced out over 12 hours.

So on top of a steadily worsening Crohn’s flare I now seem to be fighting the flu. Or something.

I finally fell asleep on the couch last night at about 2:30 am but I woke up around 4:30 am and I’ve been up ever since. It’s just after 10 am now. I can’t even get a decent sleep anymore. Forget sleeping for eight or even six hours, four in a row would be nice. With this lack of sleep and constant pain it’s no wonder I seem to have picked up a summer bug.

The clean out begins

August 17, 2007 by Tricia

My neighbors are serious. If the tapping and repairs going on weren’t enough of a message that they mean to sell their home successfully the pile of discarded items outside there house should be enough to convince me.

I just looked outside and they’ve been cleaning out their home. There’s old rolled up carpeting, a few blinds, what looks like a painting or a photo frame, an old couch and a few bags of garbage.

Gee I hope they’re going to cart that stuff to the dump on their own because this past Tuesday was Garbage day and garbage is only picked up twice a month in our area of Toronto. They’d better not be planning on leaving that pile on the boulevard grass for the next week and a half.

Oh now a wooden chair has joined the pile. Hmmm if anyone needs some used furniture I might have a deal for you.

They’re going to sell!

August 17, 2007 by Tricia

Yesterday I awoke to the sound of tapping on my bedroom wall.

It was the neighbors.

As the day passed I don’t think there was a wall adjoining our house that was tapped, banged or hammered.

What on earth were the neighbors doing?

Chris happened to see our neighbor outside when he walked to the corner store in the early evening and he found out that they’d spent the day doing minor repairs to their home. We’d already figured as much, but it was nice to confirm the source of all the tap tap tapping.

Their real estate agent had given them a list of suggestions for repairs.

So yeeaaaaahhhhh it looks like the neighbors will soon be putting their house up on the market!

I’m not surprised that they had at least some minor repairs to do. Since they moved in five and half years ago they’d never done a thing to the house and I think it was badly in need of repairs. I’m sure there’s more that they haven’t got to yet and might not do.

Believe it or not the constant tapping throughout the day was no where near as irritating as the loud guitar, tuba or karaoke that we’re subject to from time to time. In fact the tapping didn’t even really bother me at all. Perhaps that’s just because I knew it might mean that our Karaoke neighbors would soon be moving on.
