What a bonanza

Daylily Bonanza

This is an old day lily called Bonanza. I’m not certain how old this hybrid is, but I believe it was created 40 or more years ago.

It’s a fantastic performer in the garden. I think mine is on it’s third flush of blooms this summer. It might even have bloomed more times than that but it’s at least three times.

I like day lilies for their dependable blooms. Particularly those that re-bloom. Do you grow day lilies?

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

I will soon be preparing some bulb beds to do some fall planting for the first time in my garden. I’ll get whatever becomes available in the nurseries–and I understand that I can plant daylillies in fall and spring, so I’m going to try some!

I used to but they took over the garden (it’s quite small)…just have one now and I think it’s sulking as it’s not flowered at all this year! Happy GTS

No, not me as you already know. I didn’t have any in my former garden either, but it’s a very common garden flower in Sweden in general. I’ve never seen this one you’re showing us though! Love the inside of it.

I love daylilies, and have a few varieties and would love to have more.

Yes., I grow some daylilies, but I did not know there are remontant cultivars, Í have to look out for ‘Bonanza’. Thank you for that hint!

I have day lilies- I am fairly new to gardening. Just two years of lilies and they are beautiful and love how the spread. I did not know they had the capabilities to bloom more then once a season. So far mine have not. They probably will next year- after we have sold our house!!! -Michelle Oh but I love the lilies they are such grand looking flowers.

I really like daylillies, but our garden is to small to have to have too many.

We like to grow Stargazers and when they bloom, it’s quite lovely.

Of course we have to catch that one day when they bloom because by the next morning the deer and bunnies get them.
