Passionate about Passion flowers

Passion Flower

I’m sorry that this Green Thumb Sunday post is late. I’ve had a busy weekend and wasn’t able to make my post on early Sunday morning as I normally do.

This photo of a passion flower was taken earlier this week. I took the photo with my new Digital SLR camera. Doesn’t it take a great photo?

I’ve gone nuts over vines this year. A couple of weeks ago I bought two more clematis vines, three different passion flower vines and a tropical vine that I can’t find the name of yet.

This passion flower has a faint scent. You can’t smell it until you actually put your nose to it though. It smells lemony. It’s a lovely fresh scent.

Do you enjoy passion flower vines too?

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

Chris and I went out on Saturday to see my nephews photo exhibit. We didn’t realize that there was a large outdoor art exhibit going on! My brother had made it sound like it was a small event, but it turned out that the Outdoor art exhibition has been going on for 40 years! There were 500 artists displaying their work.

I’m sure you can imagine how hard it was to find my nephew!

It’s a great thing that we went though. I visited each booth and in one of the booths we found an artist that created these glass fish. They were gorgeous!

When I saw them I thought that they’d be perfect for the “fake” theme for this weeks photo hunters. Yes I’m a little behind getting my post up, but I think I found a creative “fake” item.

Chris is driving through an area with a tornado warning!

July 8, 2007 by Tricia

It’s Chris’ birthday today.

He’s not here though!

Last night he drove to his hometown of Brantford Ontario because his brother and nephew were coming in from Chicago.

I heard from him at around 3 pm today when they were in Guelph. Chris’ nephew is here to go to hockey camp but there’s been a mess up with the schedule. He’ll be having his lessons and playing in the evenings and that kind of messes up Chris’ sisters schedule. She was going to have our nephew stay at her home and get him to camp every day, but the schedule change threw a bit of wrench into the family plans for the week.

I don’t know what solution they’ve come up with, but I do know that Chris ended up in Kitchener- where his sister and her husband lives and that they had a barbecue.

Chris called me at a little after 8 pm. He’s on his way home but he was calling to ask me what the weather was supposed to be like because all of a sudden the sky’s looked “really weird”. Turns out he’s driving through an area that was due to possibly have a tornado go through it at around 8:30.

He was already on the road and driving away from the Tornado area when I started to suggest that he drive back to his sisters and make sure that he and everyone else was safe. He’s continuing on his way.

I haven’t heard from him since he called a little more than half an hour ago, but I’ve got the weather channel on and they aren’t reporting that a tornado touched down yet so hopefully he’s safe.

I wish that he’d come home earlier like he was supposed to!

We’re expecting severe thunderstorms and hail at any time here in Toronto so he could be driving into another area of severe weather.

I ran outside after he called and took our umbrella off our patio table (hurt my back doing it too!) and made sure the plants that I haven’t put in the ground yet are safe and secure.

We can have some pretty severe storms here in Southern Ontario – particularly after we’ve had a very hot day, and today was a hot one. It was supposed to get up to 34 Celsius or so but with the humidity would feel well into the 40’s – that’s 106 + for those that don’t know the metric system.

Keep your fingers crossed would you that Chris gets home safe?

Oh BTW I know I’m behind in getting my Photo Hunters and Green Thumb Sunday posts up – but they’re coming. Well, unless a storm knocks the power out!

Great selection of jewellery and accessories for men

July 8, 2007 by Tricia

When you think of jewelry you probably usually think of women’s jewelery – rings, necklaces and earrings and so on. Men wear jewelery too and I’ve just been to a website called Purple Cufflinks that has some beautiful jewelery for men – particularly their Cufflinks designs.

As a former jewelery myself I can tell you that I’m quite impressed with the designs. Their cufflinks are quite funky.

Two pair of cufflinks in particular caught my eye. One set is of the blue wedge style which is made of stainless steel with a blue enamel wedge across the top with a clear center stripe. It’s a lovely style that a man could wear at the office or while out on the town.

The other cufflink set that I enjoyed was the round pair made of abalone shell. It has an alternating striped pattern of green jade that compliments the abalone shell and stainless steel beautifully.

If you’ve been looking for a gift for your spouse, your father or a male friend you should visit Purple Cufflinks and have a look at their many stylish items.

Along with cufflinks you’ll find a tasteful selection of ties, pendants, bracelets and rings. Apparently their online store will be expanding their selection to include wallets and belts. It will be a one stop shop for men’s jewelery and accessories.

Purple Cufflinks is located in Australia but they ship their products worldwide so feel free to browse through their items and make a purchase if you find something that would be perfect for yourself or a special man in your life.

Yeah Right, Whatever – it’s a scam

July 6, 2007 by Tricia

I just opened some snail mail that I received earlier today. It was one of those letters that said I’d won something. Hmmm what could it be I asked myself.

Obviously I wasn’t that curious about it because I waited about four hours before I opened it.

The letter proclaimed on the front that I was a “Grand Slam” winner.

I’ve apparently won the Grand Slam in our Canadian Lotto 6/49 lottery. All I have to do to claim my prize is send $10 to an Australian address.

The letter doesn’t say how much I won. I’m supposed to trust them and send them my money with no idea if I’ve apparently one a dollar or a million dollars.

Trouble is, our lottery doesn’t function online and there’s nothing called a Grand Slam in the 6/49 lottery.

Sounds like a scam eh? A quick Google search confirmed that it is indeed a scam.

The letter came from Singapore but I’m to return it to Haplin Data Services in Runaway Bay Australia.

Sure … sure I will.
