This is almost how I react when Chris steals my pen

May 23, 2007 by Tricia

Ok I just wrote a post about Chris being the biggest pen thief in the world. Is it no wonder, is it, that I get kind of paranoid about my own pens?

Just like this Kids in the Hall video, I will not accept a pen from him that isn’t mine or the one that I specifically want to use. Part of that comes from having my favorite pens stolen by him, and the other part is that I’m a lefty and only certain pens are comfortable for me to use for writing.

I’m not quite as bad as the guy in this video, but to Chris – who immediately went and found this video when I had him read the post I just wrote about him, I must seem this way at times:

My Pennnnnnn!!!!! You’ve got my Pen!!! At least we can laugh at each other.

BTW have you noticed that I’ve really upped the Canadian related content this week? It’s purely by accident. Kids in the Hall is of course an old Canadian program produced by Loren Michaels, a Canadian, the producer of Saturday Night Live.

Nightmares over past loan and debt experiences

May 23, 2007 by Tricia

Have you ever gone through a bad debt experience and even though you hopefully no longer have those debts you still get flashbacks to those stressful times?

That’s the way I feel about Chris’ past school loan debts.

Yeah, I had loans for school too that I had to pay back, but Chris’, thanks to him going to one of those private colleges that are supposed to speed up the learning process and charge an extraordinarily high fee often without producing the results they claim they will, we had a huge loan to pay off. I only wish that we had done one of those school loan consolidation programs instead of suffering through years and years of payments that we couldn’t afford and the stress that it caused.

I know if we had done some research and taken out a consolidation loan for his school debt, and mine that we were paying off at the same time I wouldn’t have these terrible “owing money” flashbacks.

Fundamental offers school loan consolidation for those who qualify. They have a secure online application process that can significantly lower your monthly payments, and might even save you a lot of money.

Oh and they don’t charge any prepayment fee’s or penalize you for making larger payments. That’s great too, because if you did some how have enough money to pay off a chunk of your loan wouldn’t it be great to do so without any kind of penalty. I know a lot of places that offer loans only allow you to pay back a certain amount of what you owe over your regular payments. Fundamental doesn’t.

I bet if we consolidated our school loans we would have paid them off faster and with a lot less stress. Instead I think I have post traumatic loan disorder?

Anytime we start to think about taking out a loan I get the hebejeebees over it. I’m certainly not a tight wad, but now that we pretty much only owe money for our mortgage I’ve come to like it that way. I’d rather be able to pay for something outright, or only owe a very small amount, than to look forward to years of payments.

Have you had bad loan or debt experiences that have stressed you out too? Or were you smarter than we were and went the school loan consolidation way?

Chris is a pen-kleptomaniac

May 23, 2007 by Tricia

Well, Chris got off work early today so that he could go to the Q107 radio station again today to talk with Kim Mitchell and hopefully get tickets to the 30 year reunion concert for Max Webster tomorrow night at the docks.

Before he left we had a mad hunt for a pen of all things.

Have I ever told you that as far as pens go, Chris is a kleptomaniac? If I put a pen out he steals it. It’s not like I can ever find where he’s put these lost pens either because he takes them out of the house, perhaps to work, and promptly loses them! It’s worse than the constant lose of socks in the dryer phenomena that I know many of you are familiar with.

After we found a pen, that I know I’ll never see again, I went searching for a place where I could purchase discount pens. I’m totally buying a carton of pens from this place. By carton I mean crate, like 1000 or more pens. I think if I do that we might actually have some pens to write with for a couple of months before they all magically disappear again.

I do keep a pen on my desk. Chris knows that if he uses it he must put it right back or he’ll suffer. All other pens are free game though it seems!

Now, consider yourself warned.

If you ever get a chance to meet Chris and I, HIDE YOUR PENS! Oh and if you use a lighter for any reason keep it in your pocket because the same thing happens with lighters too.

School Shooting in Toronto

May 23, 2007 by Tricia

OMG I’ve just heard that at about 2:30 pm this afternoon there was a school shooting here in Toronto.

The male student was shoot in one of the schools hallways. He was rushed to one of our trauma hospitals shortly after the incident, but I’ve just heard that he’s died.

Yes, we’ve had school shootings before, knifing’s and mob attacks. Once such mob attack incident happened just down the street from here about two years ago. It’s still a tragic and unusual event when it happens.

I feel just terrible that this has happened.
