Are they really Dead on Lost?

May 3, 2007 by Tricia

Does anyone watch Lost?

I enjoy watching it each week just to see if I can figure out what kinds of twists and turns might happen before they actually happen.

So it seems that flight 815 was found in the Ocean it was confirmed that all the passengers were dead? Huh? Then what does that mean? Is everyone that’s on the island now really dead? Living in some kind of hell as was implied on Wednesdays show by Locks father?

Oh yeah, I totally knew that Locke didn’t kidnap Ben. I knew he was leading Sawyer to his father, and I wasn’t all that surprised to find that Sawyer had a connections with Lockes’ father too. It seems that everyone of the characters on the show has had a past connection of some kind.

I think there’s a couple shows left to go before the season ends. How do you think they’ll leave things for the summer?

Broadband providers in the UK

May 3, 2007 by Tricia

If you live in the Uk and you’d like to find a cheap broadband service you should take a moment and look at Broadbandsuppliers.co.uk. They have listings of all the major broadband providers throughout the UK.

Looking through their list of broadband providers I see listing for companies that provided unlimited broadband, and ADSL broadband. You can compare broadband providers to see who will offer you the best prices and services that you need.

Companies such as AOL, Eclipse, BT, Tiscali, Pipex, Plusnet, Talktalk, BE, and Virgin are all listed. Check it out for yourself and see if you can find a new cheap broadband provider.

Do Follow blogroll update

May 2, 2007 by Tricia

I started a blogroll for blogs that have removed the nofollow tags from their comment area about two weeks ago and already the blogroll has grown to a list of about 110 sites! It’s gonna be huge!

The blogroll is called the Do Follow Blogroll, and if you have taken the time to remove the nofollow tags from your site manually or with a plugin I’d be happy to add you to the list. Just visit the blogroll page and leave me a comment.

While you are on the blogroll page please notice that there are now some logos that you can use above your copy of the blogroll or as a link to your Do follow blogroll page/post. You have five different colours to chose from. Zorn from Don’t Fear the Truth was kind enough to make these graphics for us. All I ask is that you copy the graphic of your choice to your own computer and or server – do not link to the images on my site.

I’d like to take the time to thank everyone who’s joined the blogroll so far. Many of the list members are going around and visiting the sites on the blogroll and leaving great comments.

As you might know by now, sites that Follow give you a real link that can be picked up by the search engines, so commenting on these sites provides more comments for the site owner and they in turn give you a true link. Great for bloggers and visitors alike.

All I ask, and I’m sure many of the blog owners will agree is that you do leave a valid comment. Don’t just stop by and say “nice post”. Please only comment if you really have something to say. I do think the majority of people have been leaving great comments but I just wanted to mention this because I know the do follow bloggers probably don’t appreciate people leaving lame comments just for the sake of getting a link. Find a post that you connect with and leave a good comment.

Likewise, don’t fill the body of your comment with links to your other sites unless it really pertains to whatever the comment is that you are leaving. Links inside the body of comments look spammy and in fact, spam plugins tend to think it’s spam and end up putting it in the spam folder. A lot of bloggers don’t go through their spam folders and just delete, so that means you’ve just wasted your time.

Again, thanks to everyone who joined the list. I hope that you are all getting something out of it. For those that haven’t signed up yet – what the heck are you waiting for?

Teen boot camps help troubled teens

May 2, 2007 by Tricia

When I was still a young teenager myself my oldest brother, 19 years my senior, got married and had a son with his then wife. My brother worked a lot of long hours during the day and evening and his wife ended up at first what we believed was post-partum depression, but then it turned out that she was schizophrenic. She just couldn’t handle carry for my baby nephew and he was in fact being neglected when my brother was not home to care for both the baby and his wife.

My mother and I stepped and took care of the baby, and for most of his first year of life he lived with us. I was just 12 at the time and it felt like I was already a mother, especially considering that my own mother was getting close to 60 at the time and tired more easily than when she had her own children to care for. Believe me, after that I knew I didn’t want to get pregnant as a teen!

My brother and his wife eventually broke up, and since custody was normally given to the mother back in those days my little nephew ended up living with his maternal grandparents because his mother was just too ill to care for him properly.

Just to keep a long story short, lets just say that as a teen my nephew didn’t do very well. I don’t know if it was his messed up upbringing or the fact that much of his maternal family had a history of mental illness, but when my nephew eventually returned to live with his father he was a hellion.

He tried to set fire to the house with my brother in it, and made what we are sure a few other attempts on his life, stole things and did all kinds of cruel things. He eventually took off at 16 and lived on his own in a number of different cities throughout North America.

I’m happy to say that he got his life back in order and he’s married and a father himself. I honestly never thought that he’d straighten out.

If there ever was a candidate for Boot Camp my nephew surely was one. I only wish that we’d thought of putting him into a boot camp when he was still a teen because he might have straightened his life out that much earlier.

Boot-Camp-Boot-Camps.com is a great site for anyone looking for information on the various types of boot camps available. They have listings for Military style boot camps and Teen Boot Camp – Help For Troubled Teens. It seems that they have listings for most of the United States and Eastern Canada.

Originally boot camps were started as an alternative to jail for troubled teens, but now there are several types of boot camps available. There are State/Province run camps, as well as private camps.

These camps challenge teens mentally and physically and give them some order in their lives. I know that some of the kids that have gone through these programs really straighten out. They go back to school and get their life in order.

If you, or someone you know has a troubled teen, you might want to visit Boot-Camp-Boot-Camps.com and see what types of camps are available for the child, as well as read through the many articles and resources on the site.

Worst job ever?

May 2, 2007 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

00030455

Isn’t that amazing that one person can move such a heavy load! Can you imagine how your back would feel after a few years of doing that? Ok maybe a few months of doing that? I can’t imagine.

We are so lucky to not have to do this kind of work aren’t we?

Speaking of jobs – what’s the worst job you ever had?
