The Big Art Daily Community

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

You know, it’s interesting how easy it is to make great connections over the internet. It seems that every week, or even almost every day, a new interesting opportunity comes my way. It might be a friendship, or it might be a business arrangement, it might even be an exchange of ideas or a promotional exchange.

One of the interesting connections that I made this week involves the Big Art Daily community. You might remember that I’ve written about Wallhogs in the past? Wallhogs are big prints that you can put on your walls.

Well, Scott from Wallhogs liked my post and many of the others that they received and decided to pass on a bit of linky love through their Wallhogs blog. I visited the site and thanked him for giving me a link back, and somehow we got talking about photography and I was invited to submit some of my photos to their “Big Art Daily” community.

They plan on featuring a photo a day and they have an open invite for all photographers to join in.

I think this is a great site, and a great way of promoting photography, and photographers. Through this connection my art work is promoted, as is my photo site Breath of Life Photography, and all of the photographers who connect with them and allow some of their photos to be published on the site are helping them out with their commitment to their Big Art Daily project.

If you enjoy great photography or if you’d like to join in, check out the site.

I’m just paying it forward. I’m pleased by the site, honored to have my photos promoted and wanted to get the word out to other photographers.

I need to travel

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

I think I’ve had a real wander lust lately! Ever since the weather got warmer and Spring hit I’ve been thinking about traveling somewhere. Anywhere. I guess after being stuck inside the house all winter it’s normal … especially in my case because I’ve really been stuck indoors since I’m off sick and not going to work each week. It’s really getting old.

I think I need to start planning some short vacations for Chris and I. Earlier I was saying how nice it would be if Chris and I went and spend a weekend in Niagara falls. I’ve also recently talked about traveling to a number of other places. I seriously think I should stop thinking about traveling and start making some plans. Even if it’s just to get away for a weekend or perhaps four days or so, I’m sure I’d enjoy it.

I went to Chicago last year, and I might go to Vegas later this year … let see … maybe I should fit in a trip to New York city? I’ve never been there and it’s a place I’ve always wanted to go. If we go to New York I’d love to see some plays on Broadway or off Broadway … guess I’d better get in touch with a new york ticket broker if we want to see some shows or even attend a baseball game while we are there. If we go.

I envy one of my brothers! Over the last five or six years he and his wife have taken elaborate vacations to almost every continent! They went to India this past January. I forget what next years vacation plan is, but it’s something exotic if I remember correctly. It’d be nice if Chris and I could pick up and travel like that.

Perhaps along with planning some mini getaways I should purchase a lottery ticket?

Guy catches sunglasses on face over and over again

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

OMG you have to see this … this guy throws a pair of sunglasses at his friend and they seem to magically land on his face properly.

I thought it was amazing once but they go on to do it again and again …dropping sunglasses from a roof, a bridge, throwing them behind as they skateboard and most amazing of all, the guy throws them threw an open car window and each time they just land perfectly on his friends face.

I’ve never seen anything like this! I don’t know which is more amazing – the guy who’s throwing the sunglasses or the one who happens to catch them on his face perfectly each time.

Slant board inversion therapy

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

Have you heard of inversion therapy? If so, you’re probably familiar with the version where people actually hang upside down by their feet or legs. While there are benefits to that particular form of inversion therapy it too can be hard on your body. Particularly if you already have a back problem. These positions can often be quite uncomfortable too.

A gentler and much easier form of Inversion therapy is through the use of slant boards. Slant boards have often been recommended by such specialists as chiropractors, colon therapists, doctors and other health professionals.

Slant boards can be used to reduce fatigue, relieve stress and to strengthen and firm muscles.

Inversion therapy is said to relieve fatigue and stress by taking some of the pressure off the bodies organs.

Considering that your body is only slightly inverted – head down, feet up on literally a slanted board, the position is much easier on your body and much more comfortable over all. I can see how this kind of inversion therapy might help relieve the stress on a person with a sore back, or even a pinched nerve in their back. Also, perhaps this is why colon therapists recommend the slant board as well. People with pinched nerves in their back can and often do have problems going to the washroom. Perhaps relieving some of the stress on the nerves of the back also helps the bowels to function better too. Also, if the board helps you strengthen your muscles we all know that strong stomach muscles help a bad back. It makes sense to me.

Certainly if I were going to try inversion therapy I would be more likely to try a slant board over the totally upside down method of inversion therapy. Since it’s a more natural position for our bodies I’d think that I’d be more likely to use it regularly.

What do you think? Has anyone tried using a Slant Board or other forms of Inversion therapy before? What was your experience like?

Did you see the Colbert show on Thursday?

May 9, 2007 by Tricia

Ok this is a really bad video – not mine! I was watching the Steven Colbert show on Thursday night and his guest ended up being Jane Fonda. Instead of sitting across the tablef from him like all his other guest normally do, she sat in his lap, kissed him several times and got him totally flustered! It was hilarious!

What’d you think?
