My sick man

May 12, 2007 by Tricia

When Chris came home from work on Friday night just after 8 p.m. he said he was so tired he pretty much just wanted to go to bed. Normally when he works the 12 noon to 8 pm shift he’s not all that tired because he tends to get more rest than when he works the 7:30 am shift and ends up getting up at 5 am!

So this was unusual.

Since he was so tired I decided we’d better eat right away, but he didn’t even want to eat dinner.

That was totally not like him. Wiped out, no appetite and his stomach had uhm … caused him to run to the washroom twice the evening before .. So I walked up to him and put my hand on his forehead and sure enough he had a fever.

I spent the rest of the evening checking on him as he lay on the couch watching TV. I gave him a Tylenol as soon as I discovered his fever, and managed to get another one into him before he headed for bed at about 1 am. Why he stayed up so late when he came home so wiped out I don’t know – but he did.

He doesn’t get sick too often but when he does he’s miserable. I’m hoping that he feels better when he wakes up.

I’m the one who gets fevers all the time in this house. I get fevers at least five times a day! At least now he’s got a recent reminder of how zapped you can feel when you get a fever.

Other than feeling feverish and wiped out he said he didn’t feel too bad. No headache or upset stomach.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he’s back to normal by morning or else this is going to be one long weekend!

Alentus now offers SharePoint Hosting

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

If you own or work for a small to large business you might be interested to know that Alentus is now offering SharePoint hosting.

SharePoint is packed with cool features for your organizations hosting needs. It’s the leading Microsoft web solution for document management, information sharing and team collaboration, and Alentus is offering the new Windows SharePoint Services in shared or dedicated hosting environments.

Some fantastic features of SharePoint are the 40 different templates that you can choose from, as well as project tracking. Each Windows SharePoint website comes pre-configured with a wealth of built in features. If you need a website for project management, a Class room or even HR management templates can be installed and customized to your exact needs. With SharePoint you can create blogs, forums, and wikis to compliment your businesses website.

This Microsoft web solution is great for document management, information sharing and team collaboration. Your employees will be able to work collaboratively on many different tasks such as documents, lists, events, images, calendars, announcements, contacts and many more projects. There’s even a new portal tool with mobile access that will allow members of your team to collaborate and manage content remotely.

Package prices begin at $30.95/month for the SharePoint professional Plan and go up to 99.50/month for the SharePoint Fortune 500 plan.

Plans include support for WSS 3.0, customized templates, 500 mb to 2 gb of Web server disk space, 40 to 200 SharePoint user accounts, 40 to 200 email accounts, 50 gb to 200 gb of monthly bandwidth, 200 mb to 1 gb of SharePoint document storage, Custom Web Parts supported, SSL certificate support, document search, and MS exchange 2003 support which is optional. All packages come with same day setup.

There are so many great features I can’t see how a small to large organization wouldn’t want to try this new Microsoft Windows SharePoint Hosting at Alentus. The prices of the three available packages seem reasonable as well.

I should mention that SharePoint is a secure tool that’s been built in a secure environment. Another important fact that any business would want when hosting their companies website.

The Alentus staff are knowledgeable, and the Alentus hosting site has a reputable uptime record.

Still working on those photos and getting some ideas

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

I’m just about done all that photo editing. I can’t believe how long it’s taken. I have to remind myself the next time I get a camera in my hands not to take 100 photos! Geezz!

Well I have been busy photographing lots of things this week. In a little while I’ll be posting some recipes for some of the fantastic dinners we had this week – with pictures of course! Who knows, the way I’ve been cooking and talking about cooking this week perhaps I’ll even start up a recipe/cooking blog. Yummy. Hmmm maybe I’ll call it “Drool Worthy”? LOL

This photo may not be drool worthy, but it is a picture of my favorite little Japanese Maple tree in the back corner of my garden. I love this tree. It’s leaves just opened in the last day or so and it’s looking lovely:

Prosper Learning leads its students to success

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

There’s an article in US Business Review that discusses the company – Prosper Inc, which is a company that offers courses to people that help them build their businesses.

The prosper learning programs begin by offering students classes in online investing on the Stock Market and then slowly move into aspects of e-commerce. The prosper learning courses goals are to teach people how to grow their online businesses and prosper from them.

Students are taught by industry experts and are given one on one coaching. The courses are designed specifically for each students interests, ambitions and previous experience. Prosper inc. works with students in 76 Countries through web and telephone conferences, online chatting and small group coaching sessions.

The program sounds like it’s quite intense and as a result Prosper inc attempts to determine each students commitment to their goals and ensures that their spouse or family members are also offering the student their full support in their endeavors.

The article goes on to say that the students who’ve taken the Prosper learning courses have gone on to become quite successful in their business related ventures.

It certainly sounds like the Prosper learning courses would be quite a good thing to take if you are determined to be successful in an online business. Read the full article for more details.

Photo editing can be boring

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

You know what I hate about taking photographs? I take too many! I wish they were always framed just perfectly so I wouldn’t have to do anymore than upload them to my computer and use them as I wished.

Instead, I’ve been sitting here for a couple of hours going over my latest batch of photos – cropping images, creating duplicates that zoom in on aspects of the photograph that I want to highlight and so on. It’s kind of fun in a geeky kind of way, but when I’m not all that into it, it can sure be tedious.

I guess since I’m working on the photos you can expect to see a bunch of new photos across our sites over the next few days. Watch for them!
