So many channels yet nothings on

May 16, 2007 by Tricia

I can’t believe that there was almost nothing on TV Tuesday evening. Yeah there was Dancing with the Stars, and I wouldn’t be surprised if American idol was on too but I don’t watch those shows. I just don’t get anything out of them. Even if I did like them there’d be no way that I could get Chris to watch them!

Heck, he gave up on the Amazing Race on me when the contestants started to get too whiny and he actually likes that show. LOL I don’t even like the show that much when the couples, friends or relatives start bitching at each other a lot.

At least House was on. I taped it, but didn’t get a chance to watch it yet. We watched Monday nights CSI Miami instead.

I didn’t even sort through the new clothes that we bought yet! Man I hope most of them fit. Well … for our budget it’d be better if I only like half of them because we sure spent a lot of money at Winners yesterday afternoon!

Do you have what it takes to seduce a celebrity?

May 15, 2007 by Tricia

Are you a fan of Mirelly Taylor? If so, you could win a date with her in GoFish.com’s Seduce a Celeb contest!

If you’re interested in win a trip, a hotel stay and most of all a date with a beautiful celebrity go on over to Go Fish and watch some Free videos at GoFish.com. Watch Mirelly’s video where she’ll explain what you have to do to enter the contest and then do the three tasks which involves making three different videos and submit them as directed. The contest will run for the next 14 weeks.

That’s all you have to do to enter this interesting contest. By the way, did you know that since the viewing audience is able to fully participate in this online show that this is the first program of it’s kind? Yes there’s some television shows like American Idol where the viewing audience has a say in what’s happening in the show, but for this show audience members who chose to participate become part of the show through their video entries.

Now in case you don’t recognize the name Mirelly Taylor – she’s been seen on shows such as Las Vegas, Punk’d and Numb3rs, as well as in the movies Kiss Me Again and Serving Sara. She’s a rising star.

Whether you enter the contest or not you’ve got to check out the video entries! Some of them are really funny. Of course, if you want to stand out from the crowd you should submit a video that’s creative to say the least.

I think this sounds like a fun contest to enter and to watch. I’m sure there’ll be some great video submissions and I can’t wait to see some of them. Since this is a unique kind of contest it will be interesting to watch how it plays out. I wonder if they’ll have sequels? I hope they do a male celeb next. Yeah, I’m married, but I think Chris would let me go on a date with a celebrity just once.

I didn’t even try them on!

May 15, 2007 by Tricia

Ok, we’re back from that silly doctors appointment.

It was so hot here today, that as we went back to the car after the appointment Chris and I looked at each other and we decided right then and there to go to a store and buy some summer clothes.

I’d been looking for shorts on and off for the last month or two but I hadn’t really found anything that I liked. Since it was already in the 80’s and getting hotter it was definitely time to go hunting for some cooler clothes!

We went to Winners.

You know what it’s like there. Either they have nothing that interests you, or you feel like you won the lottery. At least it’s that way for me.

Since I wasn’t feeling that well and I wanted to get back home to hopefully make a bit of money via the internet I opted to not try on any of the clothes that I picked out. Hopefully that wasn’t a huge mistake! I kept the receipt – I can always return them!

I purchased one new top, 6 pairs of shorts, 6 pairs of Capri pants and other pants, and one of those really soft fluffy house coats. Chris got four shirts and two pairs of shorts.

Why do they call shorts a pair of shorts when it’s only one item?

So uhm … the bill was pretty high! Most of the items were only $20 to $29 each, but when you purchase that many items it adds up!

Obviously I didn’t need all those pairs of shorts and pants and I fully expect that I’ll be taking some back since I didn’t bother to try them on – and still haven’t. However, since I don’t really go out shopping all that often, and since I have been looking for these items for a few months I figured I might as well pick out several of each and if they fit well and I like them, well I won’t have to buy any more this year!

Don’t ya just love a good shopping spree?

NAHETS enables Americian Indians in the Heavy equiptment training field

May 15, 2007 by Tricia

Nahets, which stands for the National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools, and is located at http://www.nahets.com has just announced that it will use it’s own funds to enable American Indians to enter the construction field. The American Indians who take this course will be trained as heavy equipment operators.

I think this is great news for the American Indians. Free training for anyone is always good news. Considering that construction is booming all across North American I’m sure that people who successfully complete the course will not have any trouble finding work. I believe that Native Americans often have higher unemployment rates – sometimes due to where they are located of course – so this will be a good boost for those we get into the training program.

Read more about Nahets in this press release:

On May 2, 2007, the Nevada School of Construction and NAHETS Corporate offices hosted a visit by members of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Lynn Forcia, Division Chief of the Office of Indian Energy & Economic Development-Division of Workforce Development, as well has two of her colleagues, Jody LeCompte-Garrison and Francis Dunne, were taken on a tour of the Nevada Campus and Field Site by Debra Forbush, campus president, and Sharla Patterson, Native American Liaison.

Discussed were the three different levels of Heavy Equipment Operation offered, as well as the Crane Operation program and housing options for out-of-state students. Tuition costs, financial aid, job-placement assistance, and success stories of previous students were also topics of note. While at the field site campus representatives were able to discuss in detail seat time on equipment, practical field site projects, instructor qualifications, and unique teaching techniques, including the use of Ipod’s.

At NAHETS Corporate Offices, the group was given a tour by Mike Martens, Brian Thornton, and Rhett Nielson. Discussed were out Heavy Metal Program, and our soon-to-be implemented online course study. The online course was of particular interest to the visitors as it would potentially cut housing costs for out-of-state students as well as facilitate an intense study of material until a high level of proficiency is met.

They were very impressed with our program and have committed to give our education information to the Native American tribes they visit at least once a year. They also personally invited Sharla Patterson to their National Indian Economic Development Conference in Reno, Nevada on October 31, 2007.

Off to see the doctor – again!

May 15, 2007 by Tricia

Chris and I are off to the family doctor in a little while. Due to Chris’ work schedule we actually haven’t been able to get there since sometime in January! Our Doctor doesn’t work on Mondays and since Chris started his new job in December he always had Mondays off but he recently changed his schedule and now gets every second Monday off, and on odd weeks he gets Tuesdays off. So now we can see our family doc again.

This is a doctor that I had been seeing just about every two weeks for the last two years because I’ve been so sick so it feels weird to have had this long of a stretch between visits. It’s not like I ever really needed to see her that much since nothings been changing with my health. I’m still sick, still having fevers every day and still in pain. What can she do anyway other than keep referring me to other specialists and I’m already seeing the best in the city for my Crohn’s anyway.

I’m so tired of seeing doctors. I think I’ve been kind of glad to have had this break.

I guess it’s good timing for the visit this time round though since I’ve been feeling worse than normal lately.
