Spring is here – the garden is coming back to life

Peonies, rhododendron, hosta, lilies, daylilies …

West side

In about two months one small area of my garden, near the patio, will look like this. The Rhododendron will be blooming with it’s large cherry red flowers, the hosta leaves will be in perfect shape as yet untouched by nasty slugs, and the peonies (karl Rosenfield) and day lilies will be preparing to bloom.

Spring, late spring and early summer are the time of year that I think I enjoy the garden the most. Almost every day there is something new to look at. During that time of year the plants are growing fast, and a plant that didn’t have flower buds one day suddenly seems to develop tiny flower buds almost over night.

A few of the plants in my garden have started to show signs that they are waking up. I can’t wait until several more plants come back to life and start to grow.

Who else is excited now that it’s spring?

We cleared our garden of weeds and rubbish the other week, planted bulbs, sewed seeds and we too can’t wait for the flowers to make an appearance 🙂

I would be a lot more excited if it hadn’t snowed again last night!

Your garden is so beautiful. I’d love to have such a garden but unfortunately both my thumbs are brown.

Thanks for the comments. I meant to get out and visit all my green thumb sites yesterday and I just got so busy. I don’t normally make much money on the internet on the weekends but I managed to make quite a bit! So, as a result I didn’t get out visiting. Sorry! Hopefully I’ll get out to see your great photos today.

    Hello,
That is a beautiful garden! I am a first time home owner and this is my first spring planting experience. I am very excited and nervous as well (the neighbours are watching :). I got some plants as gifts last weekend some hydreangeas (sp?) and some miniature roses is it too early to start planting yet? I live in Kitchener-Waterloo area.

    Thanks!
