This weeks Theme is Empty

September, Woodbine Beach in Toronto

scenicbeach

We went to the beach last year in September. It was late afternoon and although the day had been nice it was starting to get a little chilly. I suppose that’s why the beach was almost empty.

I think that I took this photo on the same day. This is part of Toronto’s famous boardwalk. This is what I would call the beginning of the boardwalk in the Ashbridges Bay area. As you can see the boardwalk was almost empty that day.

On nice days, the beach is crowded with people getting sun or playing volleyball. Throughout the whole year the boardwalk is a great place to walk. Residents lucky enough to live in that area of Toronto regularly walk their dogs, cats and just about any kind of pet that you can imagine on the boardwalk.

Right beside the boardwalk there’s a bicycle path.

We aren’t too far from the beach area. It’s about a 10 minute drive or a half hour bike ride. It’s not uncommon for Chris and I to get on our bikes anytime from April through to November and bike down to the beach area, or on some of the nice trails in the area.

We’re actually pretty lucky living in Toronto. The whole inner core of the city has ravines and parks where city residents can walk or bike. You can actually travel quite a distance throughout the city on the paths that interconnect throughout the city.

Biking on the trails, or walking on the boardwalk is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy a nice day.

Do you make time to enjoy some of the things that you can do in your city or town?

That’s a beautiful beach but it does look chilly! Toronto sounds a lovely city. Perhaps we’ll get there one day. We do try to make the most of wherever we are living, but we probably don’t make the most of it.

Beautiful photos! I’m starting to want to change my post after looking at so many others takes on the word “empty”. LOL.

This is beautiful! I had no idea Toronto had such a nice beach front with a boardwalk no less! We spend a lot of time walking in KL’s many beautiful parks, but with the tropical climate it can be hard to motivate myself to hike around outside (easier to take a nice long nap with the fan cooling me off!)

The beach is so pretty and the park so lovely.. We don’t have many (big) parks like that in Malaysia. At least not in the city anyway 🙂

    Great site!

I’ve spent alot of time at “the beach” in Toronto. The lake is gorgeous!!! I always liked watching all the dog-walkers and watching the many doggies play in the water.

I would find that lovely empty bench and bask in the air and sun with a good book. It would have to be around 60 out though. I imagine any lower temp than that would be a bit chilly if there were much of a breeze.

I love travelogues like this. There are some things in Toronto that I want to see: now I will be sure to bring my bike. It’s easier to take photos from a bike! Thank you!

What a lovely place! Mom takes me for walks in our cul-de-sac all the time, but I’d love to go for a walk there!

Thanks for your visit and encouraging me to return! I don’t think your photo was up yet…or maybe I was on the wrong blog.
I wasn’t aware either of such a nice beach front in Toronto! Very nice…

    Hey Tricia,

Sounds like a great bike trail going around and through the city. I love going for bike rides but not on the road. I’m always too worried about cars around me and other hazards. That’s why I enjoy mountain biking and bike trails.

    You been mountain biking much?

    Thanks,

    Sarah.
