In the daisy patch

What is nicer than a patch of daisies?

Actually this “daisy” is Rudbeckia fulgida Goldstrum.

I was just reminiscing about growing sunflowers and how they alway make me remember great hot summer days whenever I see a photo of one. I feel almost the same way about these flowers, except there’s a slight tinge of regret as well.

You see these flowers often bloom well into September and October, and while they are very pretty and add some color and life to the garden when other plants have stopped flowering, they always remind me that that a cold season will be upon us soon.

No matter how this flower makes me feel there’s no denying that I’m longing for spring and summer to hurry up and get here. I’ve had enough of winter and dull colors. I want to see the light greens of spring, and smell the scent of a spring shower.

What is it? 10 more days or so and it will be spring? I can’t wait!

Me too – I am so ready for Spring. I think I have a jump on you down here in Texas, tho. Daffodils have started blooming – and the fruit trees. It isn’t supposed to get under 40 at night any day this next week. Have my fingers crossed that there will not be another frost.

You mean it’s not already spring? Hmmm…. I wonder why I’ve been in shorts for so long already…?

I am just doing a little walk through blogville and saw this beautiful yellow daisy. I just came back from the Brussels sunday market and it was sooo crowded ! For once the weather is nice with sunshine and we have 15° (59F) which is quite unusual for march ! There were a lot of flowers and plants to buy !
