I enjoy a good read

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

I love my magazine subscriptions. I look forward to their weekly or monthly delivery and devour the magazines within a day of their arrival. Do you enjoy reading a good magazine? Which ones are your favorites?

Magazines Direct has subscriptions for all of the popular Magazines that many of us read regularly. If you are looking to expand on your subscriptions – perhaps to start reading a fitness magazine to help you with your New Years resolution – you might want to check out Magazines Direct. They have over 1300 different magazines to subscribe to.

Sometimes when I’m trying to figure out what kind of gift to give someone I’ll throw in a Magazine subscription to one of their favorite magazines. Luckily Magazines Direct also offers gift subscriptions and each one comes with a lovely hand written greeting card too.

Check them out.

Off to watch some Hockey

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

Off to the Hockey game! BRRRR I’ve had a fever for the better part of the last four days! I’m gonna freeze! Wish us luck that the Toronto team wins! I promise I’ll come back with some photos for the hockey fans out there.

There are hockey fans out there isn’t there? hello … ?

Ok, off to get my Parka for my cold few hour stay in an ice rink. Maybe some tylenol too. Uh huh

Earn money as a WingSix affiliate

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

You know that I’m always trying to figure out how to make money online. I have to since it’s my only form of income these days. Well I think I might have found a wonderful High Payout Affiliate Program. Honest. It’s the Wingsix Hosting affiliate program.

The Wingsix affiliate area says that it pays out a highly competitive commission for every sale referred to them – from three month hosting packages to yearly packages and reseller packages.

They apparently pay $75 for 1 – 8 transactions/sales, $85 for 9 – 15, and $100 for 16+ transactions. That’s good money and you know what? There hosting packages really are quite reasonable. The lowest price for hosting that I see is $6.95 per month and it comes with a lot of great features. Heck, I might switch over to them since my host keeps going down in the middle of the night.

House Guests!

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

Chris came home from Brantford yesterday with his brother and nephew. We’d talked around midnight late Sunday/ Early Monday to wish each other a happy new year and at that time we didn’t think Chris’ brother was going to come to Toronto until Tuesday.

Surprise … they showed up with Chris yesterday afternoon. I think they will be here until Thursday or Friday. I’m going to try to keep posting while they are visiting but if I don’t it’s because I have visitors. Don’t worry if this site goes quiet for a day or two. Ok?

This evening we are going to a hockey game. No not an NHL game, but I suppose it’s the second best type we could go to. We’re going to watch the farm teams for the NHL – the Toronto Marlees and the Syracuse Crunch at the Ricoh Coliseum. I think that I can bring a camera in, so I might take some photos.

I’m not a huge hockey fan – ahhh all the Canadians reading this are going to take me out back and shoot me now! LOL Hey – I do watch it on TV and attend games … I’m just not an avid fan.

I had asked people to write a link to two of our sites and I’d give them a link on this site – in a post. I asked this some time last week and the response has been very good. Unfortunately due to my not feeling well and having relatives in town and now in my house I haven’t had a chance to repay these people with some linky love. I promise that I will most definitely do that later this week. In the meantime if anyone else wants to get in on my link deal – read the post and I will get back to you by the end of the week with some linky love.

I luv my DVR

January 2, 2007 by Tricia

I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned in the past that I have a DVR. In case you aren’t sure what a DVR is, it’s a Digital Video Recorder. You might know it by names such a TIVO. I rent mine through my cable provider Rogers Cable, but since not everyone uses Rogers you might get one from companies such as DirectTV or other large cable and satellite television providers.

We used ours this past weekend to record some of the World Junior Hockey Championship – which of course it appears Canada is winning. HA! Some of the games were early, and others fell when my husband was out of town at his families home so he wanted to record them so that he could see the full games, and also because his brother and nephew from Chicago were coming here for a visit. They’re a hockey loving family so having some pre-recorded games on the DVR was great. They sat around watching hockey games last night. (I fell asleep on the couch- oh well).

When the regular TV season is upon us – like next week when shows like 24 start up, when Lost Returns and when all the regulars that we’ve been watching since September like House, Desperate Housewives, all the CSI’s etc come back on I’ll be using my DVR to record the programs. You see many of the shows that both my husband and I like to watch are on at the same time. Without a DVR we’d be out of luck as far as catching both shows. My DVR also comes in handy when I go out of town or when I’m working (I know I’m off sick now, but when I was working) because I would never miss my favorite shows. Even if I came home at midnight I could still sit and watch all the shows that I love and skip the commercials too by using my remote to fast forward through them.

Who else has a DVR or Tivo? Do you love it? If you don’t have a DVR and want to learn more about these amazing digital recorders you can get more info on the DVR Websites listed on this page. I think it would be a good item to have in your home if you have kids or if you have a busy lifestyle.

The DVR actually begins to record every show that you watch. So if the phone rings while you are watching your favorite show you can use your remote and put the show on pause, take your call, or put your kids to bed, and then come back and hit play and your show will begin where you left off. Or if you forget to do that you can rewind back to where you left off.

I Love it!
