Search Engine Optimization Blog

October 28, 2006 by Tricia

Some of you are startled when you find out just how many blogs and websites I own and manage. For those that don’t know – I have five blogs, and two major websites and I might add a few more blogs or websites to my network in the coming months.

Yes I am a geek and I’m not too proud to admit it.

Over the years I’ve learned a lot about Search Engine Marketing (SEO), page rank (PR) and many of the other aspects of promoting a website and getting it to the top of the search results so that people can find my sites easily and come visit and see what I have to offer.

I know all of the things that work best for my sites and have a lot of experience with creating and promoting sites but I don’t have a lot of interest in writing about it. However, I’ve recently come across the SEO Blog that has a lot of very useful information on it that I know many of my readers will find useful.

Do you have a niche blog or website? A popular blog that you want to take to the next level? Why don’t you visit the Search engine optimization blog and learn what you can do to get your site to the top of the search engine results?

Tricia Needs …

October 28, 2006 by Tricia

This is something I saw on one of my visitors sites (Thanks Mary). The idea is to do a Google search “your name needs” and see what comes up. Here’s mine:

1. Tricia needs affection, stability and devotion, not charm and empty words – she’s made the right choice. Always!

2. Tricia needs Carlos more than ever and he leaves! Carlos, Carlos how could you do this to me! Wait, who is Carlos anyway?

3. Tricia needs to take a bathroom break. How did you know?

4. Tricia needs help, needs therapy, not the electric chair. Well, some might have differing opinions on that one.

5. Tricia needs to bring me out of the clouds. Does that mean I put you there?

6. Tricia needs the forms that were in your mailboxes last week. Don’t tell me you didn’t get them?

7. TRICIA NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS! Can’t hurt.

8. Tricia needs you. And you, and you and you!

9. Tricia needs your final payment by Monday. Please don’t give me the line that the cheques in the mail, I’m not stupid you know.

10. All Tricia needs is to have her favorite music and things around her. True, very true.

Almost switched my cell phone provider

October 28, 2006 by Tricia

I’m a little upset with my cell phone provider right now. I’m supposed to have a package that includes a certain number of text messages that I can send and I think a ridiculously high number of text messages that I can receive free of charge. Unfortunately every time I send a text message or receive one I seem to get charged, and it’s not like I’m texting companies that do charge a fee for a text message. No, I’m trying to text some friends.

On top of that we’ve pretty much told anyone that is calling us long distance not to leave a message on the cell phone. We get extra roaming charges on the call when we check the message. We even get roaming charges if someone from out of town happens to be in our city and they call our cell phone with their cell phone. They are in the same city that we are in and we get roaming charges.

I’ve called my cell phone provider about this and they’ve told me that the text messages are included in my package and that I shouldn’t be getting charged for them. Fine, I end the call and the next time I text someone I notice a text message charge on my bill. Same with the roaming charges. They can’t give me a reasonable explanation.

I ended up calling them again yesterday about these problems. I finally pulled out the big guns even though it made my stomach Churn a bit to do it. I threatened to switch providers. That got some results. You see I’m a good customer – my bills are always paid on time and I get my cable, digital channels, internet and cell phone services from them. They took me seriously and gave me a small refund for all the roaming charges I’ve been getting and they’re going to try to fix my problem with text messaging.

Finally!

Have you had problems with any of your service providers? Cable, cell, internet or any others? What did you do about it?

This weeks theme is SAFE

00029122

There’s nothing safer for a baby than being with it’s mother.

I believe I can safely say that babies from all species raised by their parents feel this way. I love this photo of the baby elephant and it’s mother. It looks like it was taken at sunset.

Don’t you think this photo should be a poster?

Don’t forget to visit Odd Planet – there’s a great photo for the theme there this week!

A Comment = A Link Even if you aren’t a Photo Scavenger Hunt player you can have a link listed right below this post (any post on this site actually) just by leaving me a comment. Check it out.

Photo Scavenger Hunt players – leave a link in the Mr. Linky box. Non PSH participants links will be removed from the Mr. Linky box.

Red Sox Spring Training Camp?

October 28, 2006 by Tricia

Since I seem to be on a family kick today, I might as well tell you what just occurred to me. I think I might know another reason why I’ve been thinking more of my family this week and reminiscing about them. The World series has been on!

My father was never a big baseball fan, but my mother – she was a huge baseball fan. My brother that’s coming over sometime this weekend is also a very big baseball fan too. So much so that he’s attended Spring training camp games for a few of his favorite teams.

When my mother passed away a few years ago we – the 5 children – decided that each year we would have a family get together. Whether that be in one of the cities we live in, or as a cruise or tropical Island vacation we get together every year. This past year we all got together in the city of our births, Ottawa, to attend my aunts’ 80th birthday party.

We are still planning what we are going to do in 2007 but the topic of a baseball themed get together has come up. My brother was thinking that it might be interesting to go and see some Boston Red Socks spring training games in Florida. The Red Sox do their spring training in lovely Fort Myers in an open style stadium. I think I’d enjoy going to Florida for a vacation, family get together and perhaps to see a few Red Sox games too.

When I see my brother I think I’ll ask him if he wants to do a baseball get together next year, and if he does we’d better start looking into getting some Boston Red Sox Spring Training tickets. I’d love it if we could get some box seats, because I think that would be nice for us if we are going as a large group. There would be at least nine of us, more if some of the nephews and nieces come along too.

I’m liking the idea more and more. I think we should go for it. What do you think- should we?
