Words I dislike and one surprising find

November 2, 2006 by Tricia

Thursday Thirteen

13 words I hate:

1. Well, the first word is going to be HATE because I think it’s over used. I feel that Hate is a very strong emotion and people say they “hate this” and “hate that” and what they really mean is that they “don’t like” or “dislike” something.

2. The word Woilla – over used on designing shows, by pseudo starlets and pretty much everyone lately. The word is Voila people as in Vvvvvv wa LA.

3. Sorry – another over used word in my opinion. My husband over uses the word. He’s sorry for everything all the time. Why? drop a piece of paper- sorry, sneeze loudly – sorry. Why? Mix it up. Say excuse me or maybe sometimes don’t say anything at all because, maybe, just maybe, there is nothing to be sorry for.

4. Ok – “How are you today?” – OK, “how was your day?” – ok, “Was the movie a good one?” It was Ok. Anyone with a teenager probably knows how frustrating it is to hear this word 100 times each day, but when adults can barely hold a conversation and repeatedly answer with the word Ok it drives me nuts. I think that it’s been said that the average adult has 700 or so words that they use regularly in their vocabulary. Use them.

5. eh? Canadians do not go around saying EH all the time. Honest! Seeing as I’m in Canada and know many Canadians you can believe me when I say that no one I know says eh more than once every two or three weeks- if that.

6. We also don’t say aboot either. No matter what you think you heard when you spoke with a Canadian, we are saying “about” (AhhhhBout).

If you’re a drag racing fan …

November 2, 2006 by Tricia

Yesterday I posted about the SpeedTV.com show Pinks? You know the drag racing matches that are aired every Wednesday?

Well, I decided to write another post about Pinks.

I’m including one of their Drag Racing Clips in this post so you can see what the show is all about.

If you like what I see please remember to watch the all day marathon of PINKS followed by premiere of PINKS All Out on Speedtv on Nov 23rd. You won’t want to miss it if you are a drag racing fan.

Lose the Race, Lose your Ride:

How’d you like that?

How was your Halloween?

November 1, 2006 by Tricia

Here I am talking about Halloween and you’re probably sick of it or over it already. Am I right? If your American you’re probably already thinking of Thanksgiving. Uh huh. Well I’m just asking. LOL

I was a total party pooper this Halloween. Usually we decorate the outside of our house and even our front yard. We’ve got a Ghost, a scary skeleton in a reaper gown that shakes and moans when something moves in front of it. Cobweb making stuff galore. A scarecrow (for autumn) with bales of hay (4) and all kind of other Halloween related decorations that we put up. We even bought two pumpkins to carve and put out too.

But did I decorate? Nope. My husband had to work Halloween evening and since I haven’t been feeling all that well I decided that I wasn’t into entertaining the hundreds of kids that usually come by. We’re also a little low on funds too, so when I thought about how much all that candy costs I nixed the whole plan.

Next year we’ll do a super Halloween event. Usually we dress up and really get into it. I think we do a good job so that’s why we end up with so many kids dropping by. Next year.

So what did you do for Halloween? Did you decorate your home and entertain the kiddies? Did you go to a party? or maybe you just stayed in like I ended up doing?
