White lions

November 15, 2006 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

00030459

Aren’t these the most magnificent creatures?

Our Toronto Metropolitan Zoo had a white lion or white tiger a few years ago. Yes I think it was a white tiger.

It was on loan from another zoo and I got to go and see it while it was here. It’s just amazing to see such rare animals, especially when you realize that albino or melanistic? animals often don’t survive long in the wild because they stand out far too much and are more easily picked off by predators. Of course a white lion or tiger would probably have better odds at surviving in the wild since they are major predators.

Do you go to your local zoo every now and then? I haven’t been to ours for two years or so, but in past years I’d always try to get to the zoo at least twice a year.

Chris’ hair is thinning

November 15, 2006 by Tricia

Chris is going to be going to New Jersey sometime in the next few months to visit some long lost extended family. Kind of a family history family reunion type of trip I suppose.

I started look up some information about New Jersey for him- trying to find some things to do while he’s there and I came across a place that perhaps he should visit. LOL

It’s a place that does hair transplants New Jersey. Yep, Chris is starting to get thin hair up top. Well at the back of his crown. Maybe it’s time for some hair plugs?

Nah, I’m sure he wouldn’t go for it but I like to bug him every now and then. Just for kicks of course. I really don’t care one way or another if his hair is thinning in some areas.

How would you feel if someone was taping your every move?

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

I have a question to ask you and I’d love to have some feedback.

Have you ever thought of using a hidden camera in your home or perhaps even your small business?

How would you feel about the use of one in your home to say keep an eye on your nannies activities while you are working, or perhaps even to watch your child while they are using the computer?

What if you found out someone was secretly taping you? How would that make you feel? Would it depend on the reason behind the secret taping or would you feel violated no matter what the reason?

The reason I’m asking these questions is that I recently came across and new type of taping system called the StealthCam Hidden Camera. It has no wires or even wireless signals, it’s easy to use and set up and you can playback your video on the TV or your PC.

A quote from the Brickhouse Security website:

With our new patent pending stealth recording technology in our StealthCam, we have eliminated the requirement of additional recording equipment for a covert system. Sporting Mpeg4, 30fps, Motion detection, and Time & Date stamp, the hidden camera records directly to a SD card for storage and it can easily be played back on your PC. Capable of being built into different styles and featuring a knockout price, Stealth Cam is the only all-in-one solution.

I’m looking at the products that the StealthCam is embedded in – one type of product is a digital clock with a color or black and white recording Stealthcam built right into the clock; and the second product is an air purifier with a built in Black and White or Color camera built in to it too.

Looking at the products I can see why they claim that no one would ever know that they were being recorded because the products that the camera is embedded in are common ones that you will find in many houses throughout North America.

I think I would feel violated and exposed if I found out that say Chris was taping me at home while he was off at work.

I can see a need for the camera in certain situations such as the case of parents who suspect that their childs caretaker or nanny is slacking off and not caring for their child properly or even abusing the child.

I can also think of one situations where I might have considered having one of these StealthCams in my own home and that would have been when we had the Boarder from Hell living with us this past summer. She was stealing food, ruined the computer we let her use and then was sneaking onto my own computer. It got to the point where either Chris or I had to be awake and in the house 24 hours a day to keep an eye on her. A camera could have kept an eye on her and given us the proof we needed to get her kicked out of our home.

So tell me- how do you feel about the StealthCam now that you know a little bit more about it? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Suicide Dive

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

I must be on a stupid kick today.

You’ve got to see this video- it’s only 10 seconds long and it’s not in English so don’t worry if your sound isn’t turned on:

It’s gotta be some kind of contest, but I can’t figure out what they are trying to win, most elaborate funeral perhaps? They are actually rating the dives!

I don’t know how high the cliff is, but it must be a couple hundred feet wouldn’t you say? The diver looks like he’s landing on sandy ground. What could be the point of doing this other than as I said to get an elaborate funeral or into the Guinness book of records for stupidest stunt?

When I saw the beginning of this video I thought it was going to be a cliff dive into water.

I remember when I was very little there used to be a show on TV that broadcast an annual cliff diving competition. I can’t remember where it was but Hawaii comes to mind. The show was just a vague memory until I saw the beginning of this video and it all came back to me.

Do you have a tattoo?

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

I’m not all that cool I guess. I don’t have one single tattoo.

You know why? Well, it’s not because I don’t like them – I do like tattoos if they’re done tastefully. The real reason why I don’t have one yet is because I can’t decide!

I’ve looked at different tattoo patterns for a number of years. I’d really like to get a dragon tattoo on the back of my shoulder or perhaps my lower back but I can’t find one that looks anything like what I’m picturing in my head. The dragons I see are either too Asian, Gothic lizard dragons, cartoon dragons or real lizard tattoos. I want one that’s a mix of Asian, goth and real since I am after all – the dragon lady.

Of course if I ever do get a tattoo I can’t let my in-laws know. They’d freak, or at least I think they would. About the only kind of tattoo that I think they would tolerate would be one of those religious tattoos. Yes, they are extremely religious- they live across the street from a church and my mother in law works in another church in the town they live in. So yeah, a religious tattoo might fly, but nothing else that I could think of would be acceptable.

Do any of you know where I might find the kind of dragon design tattoo that I’ve been dreaming of? Huh do ya, do ya?

Oh and what kind of tattoo do you have- if you have one?
