Crack me up Friday

December 14, 2006 by Tricia

Tomorrow you should to go over to LifeCruiser and participate in her Crack me up Friday event. She’d love to have you come visit. Bring some funny jokes, hilarious stories and comments with you, or point her other visitors towards funny pictures and sites.

Have you been to a blog party before? I have and they’re lots of fun. Visit and see what it’s all about. I’m sure you’ll like it, and if you’ve never been over to visit LifeCruiser before you’ll find a great blog and blogger that I’ll bet you’ll want to visit again and again.

Oh and she’s up for a Weblog award for best diarist. Did you do me a favor the other day and go and vote for Mrs. Lifecruiser? If you didn’t you still can. Once today and once tomorrow- then the awards are over for another year.

Bluebox image compression software

December 14, 2006 by Tricia

I just came across and interesting new product called BlueBox. The company says “If you have a digital camera you need this product.” . Alright – I guess I’m one of the people that need this product. What does it do?

It’s a software product that lets you compress and encrypt images and text. The Bluebox software can compress over 480 different types of image formats including the most popularly used ones like JPEG, TIFF, and BMP. It will compress the files up to 95%.

Why would this come in handy? Well, I don’t know if you’re like me, but when you take a photo digitally you might set your camera to take the best quality photo that it can. Have you ever noticed the file sizes on those photos once you load them onto your computer? Yeah, their huge, 1 or 2 MB or more. Run them through photoshop and add some special effects to the photos and they only getting larger in file size unless you end up making the image smaller.

Again, if you’re like me, once you’ve fiddled with your photos you want someone to see them, so you send them to friends and relatives by email or upload them onto free photo display sites like flickr etc. It can take forever to send an email with a large file in it … and to make matters worse, if the person to whom you are sending the photo too has a small or fairly full mailbox sometimes they don’t end up getting the photo at all because their inbox couldn’t accept it because the email was too large.

It’s frustrating isn’t it?

Well that’s what BlueBox has come along to solve. Simple compress your photos or large text based files prior to sending them to someone via email or uploading them onto a site and TADA the file size is drastically reduced and much easier to transmit.

You can save up to 20 times more data on your hard drive and memory devices when using this compression software. Also, the compression technology doesn’t alter your original image. It’s easy to use too. Just drag and drop your images into BlueBox and they’ll be compressed to a fraction of their original size, and stored in a secure and encrypted box. Learn more about this amazing new software program at the BlueBox website.

Un-reasonable suggestions by my doctor

December 14, 2006 by Tricia

Two appointments down, one to go. What a busy week. Did I tell you I HATE seeing doctors? Especially when I know that they are having trouble figuring out how to help me?

The GI doc I saw yesterday would like to stop my pain meds. Hello? What did you say? I’ve been living in pain since 1992 and just finally was given pain meds for the hell I live in this past January after having been sick with a non relenting Crohns flare for a whole year prior to seeing the pain do, and I’m starting to function a bit better, and you what? want me to stop taking the pain meds?

Sure. Sure I will, but only if you’re going to pay my mortgage and house bills etc because I won’t be able to even sit up at the computer as I’m doing now without them. Yeah sure.

Yep that was pretty much the outcome of my latest GI appointment. He didn’t want to start me on any new Crohns meds, in fact he doesn’t think the Pentasa is doing anything for me either so why not stop that too.

I’ve been in a two year flare and he’s putting me back to square one without anything to help me get better? I was hoping he’d put me on another type of medication for Crohns to try to nip this in the bud so to speak and get me back to work. GEEZ.

I’m so frustrate.

Oh yeah … I can become a totally digital person by swallowing a camera pill to find out what’s going on inside my small bowel. Unfortunately our Insurance doesn’t pay for the $1200 or so test. I’m going to do it, but I have no idea how I’m going to pay for it.

Grrrr! I just wish a magic fairy would come by and tap me with her wand and fix this flare.

Information site for DVD recorders and players

December 14, 2006 by Tricia

I’ve just learned of a site that’s just been launched that I wish was around last year when we purchased our DVD recorder. The site is called DVD Recorders and Players Guide and it’s full of information on DVD players, DVD recorders, DVD combo record and player systems, DVD home cinema systems, DVD TV combo systems, DVD Video combos, HDMI Compatible DVD Players, Portable DVD Players, and Types of Blu-Ray Disc Players.

If you’ve been thinking of purchasing a DVD recorder or player and wanted to learn more about a specific model or do a comparison between brands and models this would be a great site to visit. As I said I wish we’d been able to visit this site last year when we were picking out a DVD recorder for our system. We ended up getting an LG DVD recorder and I’m not happy with how we ended up having to hook it up to our complex HD TV and home theater. The quality of play back is not great because of how we ended up hooking it up.

There’s also a whole section on the new blue ray Disc players where you could find information about this new type of DVD format and products such as the Samsung Blu-Ray Disc Player. I think that anyone who is thinking of purchasing one of these items for Christmas, or perhaps someone who’s just received on as a gift over the holidays would do well to read this site and learn more about the model of their choice.

Wordless Wednesday

Cheese please!

Look at those eyes! “You caught me … I swear I found it on the ground, I didn’t steal it!” Do you think it’s begging for more food or for what he has not to be taken away? What caption would you have given this photograph?

Have a great Wednesday! The week is almost over- honest!
