I didn’t really have any pictures that would depict our theme NEW this week, so I thought that photos of new rose buds would work well enough. From spring into autumn I always get a little bit excited when I discover new rose buds or any kind of new flower buds in my garden. They are so pretty and fresh looking and anticipating what they will look like when they open is half the fun of discovering them.

I suppose some people will end up posting photos of new presents that they received for Christmas. Unfortunately I did not receive any presents. We just didn’t have the money to spend on gifts for ourselves or for others this year, so I’m afraid that there’s absolutely nothing new in this house this week.

Wishing all of my visitors a very Happy New Year. May all of your resolutions come true if you’ve made any.

Don’t forget to check out my special link deal! I need your help and you’ll get a link in return.

Discount Orlando Theme park tickets

December 30, 2006 by Tricia

You might remember that I wrote a post earlier about possibly having our first vacation in who knows how long this coming year? Well I talked to Chris and he said he’d think about going to Orlando Florida. Now, when he starts to talk that way I know I’ve got him – he’ll go if I start planning the trip.

Now that I pretty much have Chris talked into going to Florida I’ve started to look around on the Internet to see what we can do there. One site that I like is Orlandofuntickets.com where I can purchase discount tickets for places like Disney World, or any of the Orlando based theme parks, dinner shows or other local attractions. Since the prices are discounted I can purchase Disney Tickets for a fairly low price. Certainly we’ll save some money by planning out what attractions we’d like to attend and buying the tickets in advance.

As I said in my earlier post I’m pretty sure Chris would want to go to Universal Studios and some of the Disney theme parks. I’ve been to Discovery Island before and I enjoyed it, and I think Chris would too. Oh I’m so pleased that I can get tickets for very low prices. I know when I went to Florida in the past I was traveling around the whole state with some friends that lived there and we’d just get our tickets right at the attractions that we choose to attend. Some of the prices were quite high. Now I won’t have to worry about that because I’ll be armed with my advance tickets.

I wonder if I can talk Chris into going to one of the dinner shows. We’ve never been to one but we both enjoy live theater and we’ve heard from friends how much fun dinner theater is. Perhaps I we’ll go to Arabian Nights or Medieval times? Has anyone been to either of these shows? Are they good?

Saddam Dead!

December 29, 2006 by Tricia

Sadam was hanged at 9:55 pm EST, sunrise in Iraq. this happened less than 30 minutes ago.

Digg this story – http://digg.com/politics/Saddam_Hussein_Dead_3

Update: 4:25 a.m EST December 30th – We ended up watching CNN for hours. In fact as I sit here writing posts for the next few days I still have CNN playing on my TV. I really wasn’t watching in the hope that I would seen Saddam hanged. I would never want to watch something like that – no matter how evil a person might be.

At 4:10 a.m. CNN finally was able to show some video related to Saddam Hussein’s hanging. The video had just been aired on Iraq TV, and quickly dispersed throughout the worlds news agencies. CNN showed video of Saddam being led into the gallows, shackled and handcuffed, and wearing what appeared to be a dark suit coat. He refused the head covering that was offered to him.

The gallowmen, what do you call those people anyway?, were wearing what appeared to be ski masks and looked very much like men dressed to rob a bank or a store. One of the men placed the head gear around Husseins neck, perhaps to protect his skin, and then placed the noose over his head and tightened it around his neck. The video freezes, as it apparently did on Iraq TV as well, with Saddam standing in position on the gallows looking straight ahead.

He looked resigned to his fate – but neither brave nor defiant – just resigned.

I’m still deciding how I feel about his hanging. Certainly he was an evil man who harmed and killed many. One commentator on CNN said that he might be responsible for killing as many as 2 million of his own people. I do think he might have been hanged too soon. I would have liked to see him stand trial for his crimes against the Kurds.

When Chris and I lived in the apartment we had a very nice Kurdish couple living above us. Both of them had lost many family members to Saddam when he gassed his own people. The Iraqi couple that lived above us left the country shortly after Husseins attack on the kurds. They missed their family, living and dead, terribly but new that they needed to make a life for themselves away from their homeland. Perhaps moving from the country was the only way they could make a good life for themselves after that.

It’s for my former neighbors, and other Iraqis that I know that I wish Saddam had stood trial for the majority of the wrongs that he’d done.

How do you feel about his death?

Want a link on my site?

December 29, 2006 by Tricia

How would you like me to link to your site in a blog post? My site currently has quite a high rank on Technorati – it’s 990, which I suppose is pretty good considering that Technorati is said to list something like 50 million blogs. Tricia’s Musings is also listed in Truth Laid Bare with a rank of 60. My sites page rank is a PR4 on Google, but I expect that it will increase when Google updates page ranks in February or March.

What I’m offering is a link in a blog post, however it comes with a small catch.

I’d like to get more links for my new blog Celebrity Scoop, and for what has now become my husband Chris’ blog Odd Planet. Both of these sites desperately need some linky love, and of course the best way to link to others is to have a link in an article or a blog post.

So here’s the deal:

1. Include a link to Celebrity Scoop and Odd Planet in one of your blog postings.

You can discuss the sites, or simply mention them in passing in a post – I don’t care which you do. Feel free to mention Tricia’s Musings as well if you’d like as that will help increase this sites rank as well, and when I link to you that will benefit your site in the future.

2. Once you have written a post that includes links to Celebrity Scoop and Odd Planet let me know and I’ll include a link to your site in one of my posts. I may do a post linking to several sites at the same time if a lot of people decide to help me out, or I may write about each site in it’s own post.

What do you say? Help me out?

Here’s a little bit of information about the two sites that I’d like you to link to:

Celebrity Scoop http://feverishthoughts.com/celebrity/ This site is fairly new and I’m still working on the best way to write the celebrity gossip articles. Celebrity Scoop discusses the latest celebrity news – read about what your favorite stars are doing, and where they are going- celebrity hot spots, night clubs, movies premieres, award nominations and award shows. I also hope to have regular articles about the latest fashion trends, and favorite products used by the stars.

Odd Planet http://feverishthoughts.com/oddplanet/ Odd Planet is a humor/ entertainment blog that brings you odd new stories, stories about dumb criminals, and strange people. You’ll also find a good number of funny pictures and videos on the site as well.

An Orlando vacation

December 29, 2006 by Tricia

I bet if I did a poll asking people where they are going for a vacation in the New Year many would tell me that they are going to Florida. Am I right? Why not? Florida, particularly the Orlando area, has many activities for both families and couples, plus the weather is quite pleasant during the winter months. It’s the perfect vacation spot.

I don’t know if we are going to have a vacation this coming year – I hope we do, but you’re talking to someone who’s been married for almost 13 years and hasn’t had a honeymoon yet so I don’t know. If I could talk Chris into it and if I felt well enough I’d love to go to Orlando Florida. What other place in the world has 52 theme parks? beaches, resorts, and inexpensive vacation homes?

I know, perhaps I could take Chris into going to Florida if I managed to book us a room in one of the Orlando Florida Hotels that’s near a golf course? I’m sure he’d love to play golf in Florida. We could also visit Disney World, Universal Studios, The hard Rock cafe – Chris is a huge fan of the Hard Rock and there’s a very big one in Florida.

The idea is sounding more and more appealing. I think I’ve talked myself into it. Now to work on Chris.
