Chicago Cubs spring training

December 15, 2006 by Tricia

Remember I was talking about how my family – siblings and their spouses – get together every year for some family related activity or holiday? I mentioned it in a post a couple of months back. Well my brother and his wife are baseball fanatics and they suggested that we go to the US and catch some of the major leagues spring training camps while we are there. Everyone has agreed. So that’s what we’re going to do.

We’re thinking about getting some Spring Training tickets to the Chicago Cubs spring training. They train in what is known as the “Cactus Leagues” Most of their games at the beginning of March are in Mesa or Phoenix Arizona which is fantastic because I’ve always wanted to go to Arizona. In Mesa the games are going to be held in Hohokam Park and the best seats for those games are right behind Home plate in section 100 row L. I think those will be the seats we try to get.

Wish us luck! I guess we’ll know in a few weeks if we are definitely going and we’ll try to get the best seats if possible.

You’ll have fun in Spring Trainging, iIve gone many times. You’ll find that the Cub home games sell out fast and are the most attended(popular) teams to watch in the Cactus League. However, you can “travel” with the Cubs to any of the away games there too. There are about 6-8 teams within 30 minutes of each other, so one day you can see the Cubs at ho-ho-Kam (their home park) or visit them at a visiting park by Oakland, Arizona, San Fransicso, Seattle, Anaheim and others. Don’t venture to Tuscon though, as this is about 2 hours away from the “hub” in Phoenix/Mesa. All the fields are very intimate and great veiws.
