My blog could be a resume

November 13, 2006 by Tricia

I have a feeling that if something happens to my current job in the ER – considering that I haven’t been there for almost a year due to my Crohns – I might be able to submit my blog, or at least a select few posts in my nursing interviews. The more I talk about nursing on this blog the more I realize that I have an awful lot of great experiences behind me.

I’ve told you how I worked for a Plastic surgeon a few years ago right? I also mentioned how I set up his office from the beginning from putting together chairs, desks, setting up the computer systems and inventory systems, the safety controls, surgical equiptment, surgical supplies and even the website for the clinic.

Back then I was doing a lot of work on websites for different companies – I’d done web work for the pain clinic I’d worked in prior to my simultaneous jobs at the Plastic surgery clinic and the ER. I guess you could say I was specializing in Internet marketing for doctors. Yes, I seem to do a little bit of everything.

Heck, between the nursing jobs that I’ve had over the years, and the computer work that I’ve done creating, promoting and marketing websites for doctors, clinics, rock bands and private individuals on my days off, evenings and weekends, I suppose I could claim that I’ve had two careers running side by side all along. Which means that if I do end up looking for a new job I’ll be able to search in two very different fields won’t I? Muhahahaha

Pexagon Store-It Thumb Drives

November 13, 2006 by Tricia

Alright I know what I want for Christmas, it will go perfectly with my laptop. I bet a few of you might want this too. What is it that I want? Well it’s a USB flash drive. The flash drives even come personalized with your name or business name laser engraved on them

You could use them to store files or projects that you are working on at the office and bring them home with you to work on if you are unlucky enough to have to bring work home from the office, or your child could use one to store his homework on and bring it back and forth from school to home as he or she completes their school work. Store photos or music easily as well. The possibilities are endless.

The flash drives are rather small, and come in 5 different colors. You can select a flash USB storage drive that is 512MB, 1GB, 2GB or 4GB. Pexagon Tech currently has a special on the 1GB Thumb Drive (any color) for $20.99 with free laser engraving, and the 2GB Thumb Drive (any color) for $38.99 with free laser engraving.

If anyone is thinking of getting me a present I’d love one of these!

Good to the last drop

November 13, 2006 by Tricia

I found a Budweiser commercial that I think you might like. Honestly, I can picture my husband doing something stupid like this, and I can also picture me looking at him with a look that screams “you are an idiot”.

There’s no sound on this clip:

Ok guys. I want to know – have you ever done something stupid like this? Tell me about something embarrassing you’ve done that others have or could have taken the wrong way.

Ladies- don’t feel excluded. Feel free to tell me your embarrassing stories as well, or even better – tell me a story about your boyfriend or husband.

I declare this – Pick on the guys day!

My Karma List

November 13, 2006 by Tricia

Do you ever watch “My Name Is Earl”? You know he’s written out a list of all the bad things that he’s done in his life and in each episode he picks an item from his list in order to try to right the wrong he did in the past. He does this to try to bring good Karma into his life – and when he fails everything goes wrong around him.

I’m sure that everyone could write a list of wrongs that they have done to others. I don’t think that anyone is good enough not to have done something to bad or mean to another.

I thought I’d try to write out a karma list for myself:

1. I used to go into my parents liquor cabinet and take a little bit of alcohol from each bottle, pouring it into a coke bottle or can to make an occasional drink to share with my friends when my parents weren’t around or when I was going out to a party. Sorry!

2. I also used to top of those alcohol bottles with water to bring the level back up. Sorry for the weak drinks you might have had Mom and Dad.

3. I had a few parties when my parents when out of town as well. One they found out about, and at least one they didn’t know about. Man I was a bad girl.

4. Might as well say sorry for going downtown to party when I was as young as 14, but looking like an 18 year old, then going over the bridge to Hull where the drinking age is 18 to party over there till 4 or 5 am. Sorry again mom and Dad.

Hmmm I can’t think of any other things that I did that were really bad. Perhaps grumbling about my old lady next door neighbor since I know she’s just lonely, but she spies on me and it drives me nuts.

What would an item on your karma list be?
