Suicide Dive

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

I must be on a stupid kick today.

You’ve got to see this video- it’s only 10 seconds long and it’s not in English so don’t worry if your sound isn’t turned on:

It’s gotta be some kind of contest, but I can’t figure out what they are trying to win, most elaborate funeral perhaps? They are actually rating the dives!

I don’t know how high the cliff is, but it must be a couple hundred feet wouldn’t you say? The diver looks like he’s landing on sandy ground. What could be the point of doing this other than as I said to get an elaborate funeral or into the Guinness book of records for stupidest stunt?

When I saw the beginning of this video I thought it was going to be a cliff dive into water.

I remember when I was very little there used to be a show on TV that broadcast an annual cliff diving competition. I can’t remember where it was but Hawaii comes to mind. The show was just a vague memory until I saw the beginning of this video and it all came back to me.

Do you have a tattoo?

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

I’m not all that cool I guess. I don’t have one single tattoo.

You know why? Well, it’s not because I don’t like them – I do like tattoos if they’re done tastefully. The real reason why I don’t have one yet is because I can’t decide!

I’ve looked at different tattoo patterns for a number of years. I’d really like to get a dragon tattoo on the back of my shoulder or perhaps my lower back but I can’t find one that looks anything like what I’m picturing in my head. The dragons I see are either too Asian, Gothic lizard dragons, cartoon dragons or real lizard tattoos. I want one that’s a mix of Asian, goth and real since I am after all – the dragon lady.

Of course if I ever do get a tattoo I can’t let my in-laws know. They’d freak, or at least I think they would. About the only kind of tattoo that I think they would tolerate would be one of those religious tattoos. Yes, they are extremely religious- they live across the street from a church and my mother in law works in another church in the town they live in. So yeah, a religious tattoo might fly, but nothing else that I could think of would be acceptable.

Do any of you know where I might find the kind of dragon design tattoo that I’ve been dreaming of? Huh do ya, do ya?

Oh and what kind of tattoo do you have- if you have one?

Gift Idea – Tassimo Hot beverage Machine

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

Hey folks, if you are trying to decide what to get your loved ones for the holidays this year I think I might have just found a really nice idea.

The product that I found is the Tassimo Hot Beverage Machine and it’s made by Braun. I think it’s an amazing idea.

We all know how popular coffee shops like Starbucks and Tim Hortons are these days right? Heck, sometimes my husband goes out to the store to pick something up and he brings home a Tim Hortons coffee for me. I love it when he does this, but it’s not like we don’t have coffee and a coffee maker right here at home. Still, I love the taste of their coffee so I don’t complain.

Now, back to the Tassimo Hot beverage machine – you can make ALL of your favorite drinks in this machine, perfectly, and in the end it they should be just as tasty as the ones at your favorite coffee shop and cheaper too. Plus there is no mess or coffee grounds to deal with when you use this machine- which might be part of the draw of going to a coffee shop for a drink since you don’t have to clean up after yourself there either do you?

The tassimo uses pre-measured T-Discs sealed to protect the flavor inside. You simply place the T-Disk that you want into the machine and the Tassimo beverage maker reads the instructions for that particular disk and makes you the perfect beverage every time. You can even adjust each cup to your taste by simply pressing a button on the machine.

The T-Discs come with pre-measured amounts of Twinings Earl Grey Tea, Gevalia and European brands of coffee, real milk for cappuccinos and lattes, and Suchards hot chocolate.

The Tassimo Hot Beverage Machine sounds great to me and it’s on sale right now too. Just follow the links on this page to find out more about the product and pricing.

Oh I’d love to get one of these if any of you have put me on your shopping list.

Amazing site stats and a way to make money too

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

A few days ago I signed up at Performancing. Do you see the performancing logo in the left sidebar? Well, if I’m lucky performancing will eventually get me a few advertisers to fill that space. The Performancing publishers program is rather young so it might take some time to sell the ad space, but that’s ok, I’m willing to wait.

You might have heard of Performancing before? They have a program called Performancing Metrics, which I took advantage of and put on all my sites. Now I have very accurate easy to access and use site stats. I see who my top 5, 10 or 50 referrers were, top posts, top comments or comment summaries, and if I had adsense on here I’d be able to see how many clicks took place each day. I can also view a lot of stats about my visitors from IP addresses, to Countries they’ve come from, the browsers they use and the screen resolution they have their computer display set at.

I can tell you that more than 50% of the visitors to this site have been using one of three versions of firefox, which means that at least this week firefox may be taking the lead in popular browser usage over internet explorer.

My friend, Fab might be jealous of my site now. He’s been trying to break into the Chinese market and get more visitors from China to his site. Well for some reason I’ve always had a lot of visitors from all of the Asian countries, and I can say, that after looking at the first 24 hours worth of stats I’ve had 5 visitors from Singapore, 2 from Hong Kong and one from China. So Fab just ask and I’ll teach you my tricks on getting visitors from China, ok?

Jewel embedded eyeballs?

November 14, 2006 by Tricia

Ok raise your hand if you typed a strange search term over at Google or yahoo or whichever search engine you use and it brought you here. Alright, not that many hands in the audience. Sigh of relief.

I’d really like to know who -and more importantly – why? someone was searching for jewels embedded eyeballs – **ewwww* – and how that ended up bringing them to my site?

That search brought the sadist to my post Sqeaky clean golden girl where I talked about preparing for a colonoscopy and, at the time, an upcoming MRI and somehow went off on a tangent. Gee when do I ever do that? The tangent led me into a discussion about how, when I used to be a jeweller, I ended with gold stuck in my eyeballs quite often.

Now I know that a tiny little sliver of gold stuck in your eyeball hurts like hell. When that would happen to me when I was cutting designs in gold with a diamond flywheel or my diamond cutting machine I’d make my way as best as I could to the optometrist that happened to work in the same building with my eye watering like mad and me trying not to blink too much as that would have made the situation worse.

So if a tiny sliver of gold is extremely painful in your eyeball think about how painful a ruby or a 1/4 carat diamond would be! Geez what was that person thinking searching for jewels embedded eyeballs? Were they searching for people with gems in their eyes or eyeball ornaments that had jewels embedded in them?

Is this going to be some new, and likely short lived, fashion trend? If it is- well remember folks, you heard about it here first.
